Waiting on Wednesday is a meme hosted by Breaking the Spine. Now called Can’t Wait Wednesday hosted by Wishful Endings. It’s where we display a book that we can’t wait to read because it sounds so good. đ
I am the legion of the night
He appears in the darkness like a ghost, made of shadows and fearâthe Midnight Man. He comes for the parents but leaves the children alive, tiny witnesses to unspeakable horror. The bedroom communities of Los Angeles are gripped with dread, and the attacks are escalating.
Still reeling from her best friendâs close call in a bombing six months ago, FBI behavioral analyst Caitlin Hendrix has come to Los Angeles to assist in the Midnight Man investigation and do what she does bestâhunt a serial killer. Her work is what keeps her going, but something about this UNSUBâunknown subjectâdoesnât sit right. She soon realizes that this case will test not only her skills but also her dedication, for within the heart of a killer lives a secret that mirrors Caitlinâs own past. Hesitancy is not an option, but will she be able to do what must be done if the time comes?
Tense and impactful, Edgar Award winner Meg Gardinerâs latest UNSUB thriller will leave you on the edge of your seat until its riveting conclusion.
I can’t wait!!! I absolutely loved the first two in the Unsub series and it seems like I have had to wait forever for this one to come out…lol. She usually bases her unsubs on a real serial killer but gives them a different tweak. (First book: Zodiac Killer, Second book: Ted Bundy, maybe the third one is Night Stalker?? Not sure yet!!) Comes out February 18th.
When a young woman is discovered brutally murdered in her own apartment, with an intricate pattern of lines carved into her face, Copenhagen police detectives Jeppe Korner and Anette Werner are assigned to the case. In short order, they establish a link between the victim, Julie Stender, and her landlady, Esther de Laurenti, whoâs a bit too fond of drink and the host of raucous dinner parties with her artist friends. Esther also turns out to be a budding novelistâand when Julie turns up as a murder victim in the still-unfinished mystery sheâs writing, the link between fiction and real life grows both more urgent and more dangerous.
But Estherâs role in this twisted scenario is not quite as clear as it first seems. Is she the culpritâor just another victim, trapped in a twisted game of vengeance? Anette and Jeppe must dig more deeply into the two womenâs pasts to discover the identity of the brutal puppet-master pulling the strings in this electrifying literary thriller.
ÂDon’t know this author but this sounds pretty good. Not like I really need to start a new series but…well you know how that goes…lol. First book in the Korner/Werner series and comes out January 14th.

You know how badly I want to read that Gardiner book! It’s been such a long time coming. The other one sounds really good as well. I can’t believe how much time we wish away waiting for good books to come our way – like we don’t have enough to read already.
