Kate Daniels works for the Order of the Knights of Merciful Aid, officially as a liaison with the mercenary guild. Unofficially, she cleans up the paranormal problems no one else wants to handle—especially if they involve Atlanta’s shapeshifting community.
When she’s called in to investigate a fight at the Steel Horse, a bar midway between the territories of the shapeshifters and the necromancers, Kate quickly discovers there’s a new player in town. One who’s been around for thousands of years—and rode to war at the side of Kate’s father.
This foe may be too much even for Kate and Curran, the Lord of the Beasts, to handle. Because this time, Kate will be taking on family…
Both Barb and I have really been enjoying this series and this book was no exception! After you read my review go check out Barbs!!
What I thought
This one was a lot of fun, made me chuckle a lot!
So from the start Curran is in the
dog lion house for not showing up to the dinner Kate made. This adds a lot of fun to the book!
Then it seems Kate is always the one who is picking up the jobs nobody wants to do and she gets a call to head out and check out a brawl and a body that looks horrible. While investigating she finds out there is a new player in town who has been around for a very long time who knows her father and throws Kate into a very dangerous situation, not just her but Curran as well.
Kate does her best to keep Curran out of the line of fire while trying to figure out how to fight and win.
So in this one there are a lot of pranks done between Kate and Curran which were somewhat childish but funny at the same time. Kate is mad he didn’t come to her dinner and thinks he brushed her off because of what the pack told her. Curran has his wires all crossed two and instead of sitting down like adults they are at war with each other with their pranks, they do eventually get it settled but it made for a few chuckles.
I think the reason I love these books so much is that they are full of action!!! I love me some action!
These books get better and better and I can’t wait to get to the next one (though we are taking May off so won’t get to another till June. 🙂 )
Renee Raudman does a great job with this series!
