Alexia Tarabotti, Lady Maccon, has settled into domestic bliss. Of course, being Alexia, such bliss involves integrating werewolves into London High society, living in a vampire's second best closet, and coping with a precocious toddler who is prone to turning supernatural willy-nilly. Even Ivy Tunstell's acting troupe's latest play, disastrous to say the least, cannot put a dampener on Alexia's enjoyment of her new London lifestyle.
Until, that is, she receives a summons from Alexandria that cannot be ignored. With husband, child and Tunstells in tow, Alexia boards a steamer to cross the Mediterranean. But Egypt may hold more mysteries than even the indomitable Lady Maccon can handle. What does the vampire Queen of the Alexandria Hive really want from her? Why is the God-Breaker Plague suddenly expanding? And how has Ivy Tunstell suddenly become the most popular actress in all the British Empire?
Barb and I have finished another series!! Whoot whoot! 🙂 Next month we will be embarking on a whole new series! To find out what Barb thought go to her blog Booker T’s Farm, but first check out mine. 🙂
Here is what I thought
We have come to the conclusion of the Parasol Protectorate series and I have to say a part of me is kind of bumed. Although I haven’t always loved what has happened within this series I do really like the characters. This will be a very short review because well end of a series…spoilers would happen if I said to much. 🙂
In this one Alexia and Lord Maccon are off to Egypt as Alexia has been summoned by the very old vampire there for reasons I can’t say. The whole gang is going so we get Ivy, Tunstall and their kids, Madame Lefoux, the french inventor and more. There are also some they have left at home but still have a bit in the story so we get them all!
There was a murder in this one and I actually wasn’t surprised at whodunit, but felt bad for Alexia. Lots of things happen at the end and I have to say that some things didn’t surprise me and others things made me roll my eyes a bit. I think even though it was a decent end to the series certain things just felt a little over the top and hard to believe.
Overall, I am glad that we tackled this series and now I really want to read the spin off series so we might tackle it next year. 🙂
Emily Gray does a great job with this series!
