Virgin River is abuzz with the news that a stranger bought the town's abandoned church on eBay. The buyer, a young widowed reverend, is a little like the building itself: in need of some loving care.
Noah Kincaid arrives ready to roll up his sleeves and revitalize his new purchase, but he's going to need some help. An ad in the local paper brings an improbable candidate his way.
"Pastor's assistant" is not a phrase that springs to mind when Noah meets brassy, beautiful Alicia Baldwin. With her colorful clothes and even more colorful past, Alicia needs a respectable job so she can regain custody of her children. Noah can't help but admire her spunk and determination, and she may just be the breath of fresh air he needs.
This unlikely duo may come from two different worlds, but they have more in common than anyone would have expected. And in Virgin River lasting happiness is never out of the question.

We are back with another Virgin River book!! I am so glad that eight books in and both Barb and I are still enjoying this series! After reading what I have to say go check out what Barb thinks at Booker T’s Review!

Here is what I thought

Noah is a pastor in need of a church and he sees the one that Hope puts on ebay. It’s a rundown old church but he sees potiental so he decides to by it but he needs an assistant to help him. In walks Ellie the total opposite of what Noah was expecting but maybe just what he needed.

Ellie is a single mom who was a dancer in a club, but after her ex-husband got custody of her two kids that are not even his kids because he is very controlling, she needed a new job. One that would help her get her kids back and so she applies for the job as assistant to Noah. He knew right away she was not the lady for the job, she didn’t dress right, or talk right, but she got to him with her tale of wanting to get her kids back so what could he do? Well, hire her of course.

I really liked Noah and Ellie, they were the complete opposites but it worked so well. I loved how much Noah liked to help people and how fired up Ellie could get trying to protect her kids from her ex who was so horrible. You couldn’t help but root for this couple.

My only thing about this was that I am not use to reading a book about a preacher in a secular setting. I know they are men too, but growing up in church, it just felt weird putting preacher and sex in the same scene!! I had to fast foreward my audiobook…lol.

Overall I just really love the Virgin River series because each time you start a book it’s like spending time with family and this one was no different. The couple focused on my be new to Virgin River but the side characters are all the same and you get to know more about what is going on with them and the town and I just really like that.

Highly recommend this series but you must start from the beginning!

The Narrator

Thérèse Plummer does a great job with this series and just has a really nice voice.

  1. Oh I can definitely see the issue with a preacher in a romance novel! I grew up Catholic so I’ve never really thought about it but yeah I can see there being an issue – or it just being weird. I love Teresa Plummer so I should try this series on audio.
