The Week In Review #97

July 17, 2016 Memes 29

BMR,OHMy (1)The Week in Review is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and It’s Monday! What are you reading? Β If you have never joined in on these meme’s you can check them out by clicking on the meme and it will take you to the host blog.

So spent my birthday doing much of nothing but reading. Nothing different from most birthdays, so I bought myself some audio and ebooks for my b-day. It’s the only way I get books (or presents for that matter…lol). That is the single life, you got to buy it yourself or you don’t get it.

It rained a few days this week but it’s still been pretty hot but not real bad. Now next week that will be a different story as we are suppose to be pretty hot and the heat index will be yucky.

Well that is about all I have to report on this week. Kind of of a boring week. πŸ™‚

What you might have missed on my blog

Netgalley/Edelweiss

death among the doiliesΒ chillsΒ blue moonΒ jersey devilΒ rockinghorse

Audiobooks for review

guilty as cinnamon devious lotΒ War of rosesΒ cryptic lines

Ink and bonesΒ big vamp on campus1 vampire mail order bride
  • Ink and Bone – I have a hard copy but thought this might be a better way for me to go with this series so we shall see. (credit)
  • Big Vamp on Campus and The Vampire’s Mail Order Bride – I decided to get myself some b-day presents and since I owned the ebook they were really cheap to buy. πŸ™‚

Books bought (kindle)

a gilded graveΒ fixerΒ christie curse

Got me a couple of books for my birthday since they were on sale for 1.99 each.

Freebies (kindle)

copper kingΒ spirited manorΒ 0749 Joel Goldman ecover STONE COLDΒ demon hunter

If one catches your fancy, make sure you check they are still free. πŸ™‚

Won

20160716_171050Β voodoo killing
  • Won Toasting Up Trouble off of a facebook giveaway! Won it from Denise Swanson, author of cozy mysteries. She does a Tuesday Treats. I can’t believe I won! πŸ™‚

Books read last week

supergirlΒ Click to Start HereΒ Rose Petal graves

Currently reading

What the dead wantΒ corpse in the cabanaΒ Skeleton CrewΒ To Love a Wolf
  • Skeleton Crew is Β just one of those books that will probably take me a while as I listen to one or two short stories at a time until I finish it…not a huge short story fan but listening to it has been the best way to go about it…lol. (So expect to see this one sitting on my currently reading for a while.)

What might be up next

Liar, liarΒ Murder most curiousΒ We are Holding the Pres Hostage

How has your week been? Did you get any good books? Read anything good?

I am going to have to tell you married life is like that also. If you want it get it yourself because either the family doesn’t get it or they don’t remember what you wanted.

Give me your Netgalley password so I can change it. I wonder how long it takes before you go completely insane and come to my house to get it back πŸ™‚

You did good reading this week! I really need to step up my game πŸ™‚

Have a great week, Stormi! Happy Reading!

*hangs head* I know I did really bad this week with netgalley, but…but darn it I was doing good till right up Friday and Saturday….lol. πŸ™‚ I am not giving you my password cause even if I went to your home you still wouldn’t give it back..your a meany…lol. πŸ˜‰ I would probably go crazy.

I did really good reading wise, shocked that they are all ebooks and not audios…lol. πŸ™‚

I’ve had my eyes on Liar Liar and I think we just trade recommendations each week because I just went and grabbed The Gilded Grave. I usually buy my own book gifts too except for Christmas where I give my husband a list and he pretty much walks in a bookstore and hands it to them. Haha! Hope it’s not too hot for you this week but I feat we’re both in the way of some scorcher.

One thing about Liar, Liar is that to really understand the MC you need to start at the beginning with Eeny Meeny. This is book #4 in the Helen Grace series and she is a different sort of DCI copper. πŸ™‚

Ha ha, yep we probably are not good for each others TBR list. πŸ™‚

At Christmas time I normally have to point out what I want for my dad to get me or give him a list. I also like the secret santa that COYER does cause it’s my one chance to get a bookish item. πŸ™‚

If the week is anything like today…gaah…if I wanted a sauna I would build myself one…lol. πŸ™‚

    • Stormi

Yeah, not tried this author but I have book one in this series so now I really need to get to reading. πŸ™‚

    • Stormi

Thanks for the b-day wishes. πŸ™‚ I hope we both enjoy that cozy! πŸ™‚

Happy birthday! I’m all for buying yourself presents! How else do you get what you really want! I ordered myself a bunch of shirts from Out of Print for my birthday and loved them. Our temperatures are supposed to be awful this week too. I like heat and all that but it’s getting ridiculous. Death Among the Doilies has been tempting me. Maybe it’s time I just go get it. Have a great week!

Thanks, some times the best gifts are the ones you buy yourself. πŸ™‚

I had the email for Death Among the Doilies haunting me in my inbox till I just gave up and got it…lol.

  4. sjhigbee

Yes… I was given a bunch of book vouchers for my birthday, so I shall be spending them as and when I see something I cannot resist – when my TBR is less ridiculous, hopefully! Hope it isn’t too hot for you and you have a great reading week:)

    • Stormi

My dad think I have to many books as is and will not help my addiction. πŸ™ So I never get bookish gift cards or anything. πŸ™ So I have to just do it myself. πŸ™‚ I browse my wishlist everyday for deals, I am surprised some times buy some of the great books that go on sale for .99 or 1.99 so I always check. πŸ™‚

    • Stormi

Thanks Whitney, it wasn’t a bad day. I think I just get depressed the older I get and I think about how I should have did things differently. Every year just seems like aaah I am getting old. πŸ™‚ So bookish gifts make me feel happy. πŸ™‚

  5. Kathy

I’m married and I buy my own gifts. That way I get what I really want. And I’m still shopping for myself for this last birthday lol.

You showcased a lot of great books in this post and I’ve added some to my TBR. I have some credits on Audible so I’ll have to do some shopping.

I hope you have a great week!

My bday pretty must is just another day. Though I did get lots of bday wishes on facebook, even my dad who lives with me wished me happy bday via facebook…lol.

Yeah, went a bit overboard with the books this week so really need to stay away from Netgalley and other place. Did you see Michelle is threating to take my netgalley password…lol. πŸ™‚

  6. Greg

Happy birthday! Glad to see you’re joining the High Summer readathon- I’m doing that one also. Death Among the Doilies-lol love that title, and Click Here to Start- whenever I see that cover I want to read that one!

Thanks! Oh I am glad to see someone I know in the read-a-thon! If you like gaming or treasure hunting books and don’t mind MG books you really should read Click to Start Here! πŸ™‚

  7. Lark @ The Bookwyrm's Hoard

Happy birthday, Stormi! I’m sorry you have to buy your own presents but at least that way you get the books you want! Enjoy reading them — looks like you got some great titles this week.

I hope you weather the heat wave OK (sorry; that was an inadvertent pun.) I’m not enjoying it; it broke for a few days (which means it’s only around 87 right now) but it’s headed up to 100 by the weekend. And humid. Ugh.

Happy Birthday! So sad you had to buy your own presents but at least this way you know you wanted what you got. I’m right there with you. If I want something, I have to buy it myself.

I haven’t read most of those books you have got, but I really loved The Fixer.

    Happy reading!

  9. Lola

I hope we get some rain here soon, it’s been really warm here this week. I don’t like the heat. Sounds like you had a good birthday, even though you had to buy your own books. I also got Death Among the Dollies for review, I hope we both enjoy it! That’s awesome you won Toasting up Trouble in a giveaway, it’s n my wishlist as it sounds great. Looking forward to hear what you think of it! I hope you’re having a great week!
