The Week In Review #403

The Week in Review is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and It’s Monday! What are you reading?  If you have never joined in on these meme’s you can check them out by clicking on the meme and it will take you to the host blog.

Hi everyone!

Seems like we flipped and did a complete 360 on the weather from rain all the time to unseasonably hot…lol. I will take it though! I am so tired of the rain that the heat is fine with me. 🙂 I know some don’t like it but I do. I don’t care if I have to shower twice a day cause of the sweat…lol. 🙂

You might have noticed my blogging has kind of falling by the wayside. I do more on my youtube channel now with weekly reading vlogs etc and just don’t have the drive to blog much. I am going to try and get back into it. If it wasn’t for Kathy’s post there wouldn’t be much happening…lol. I almost thought about going back to a free blogger to save on the hosting expense but not sure, still giving it some thought.

Hope everyone has a great week and happy reading!

What you might have missed on my blog

Books I have added

Got print copy from publisher

  • Onyeka and the Academy of the Sun – It’s about a girl with magic hair…not sure about magic hair but it’s based on some Nigerian folklore and I was curious…lol.

Books read last week

  • Spineless – An environmental adventure historical middle grade and it was cute.
  • Nate the Great Vol. 2 – Set of four super short but very cute kids mysteries.
  • Encyclopedia Brown #1 & #2 – Listened to a bind up of book one and two. This was my nostalgia read for middle grade May because I loved these as a kid and wanted to try them again…super short cases that were a lot of fun.
  • The Natural Genius of Ants – This was a decent middle grade contemporary. Learned a lot about ants. 🙂
  • Homicide and Halo Halo – I wasn’t a fan of book one and I think I might have liked this one a tiny bit more than the first one. I really want to like this series but the main character is so wishy washy and it just doesn’t have that fluffy cozy feel I want, but it’s about the Filipino culture as I have been to the Philippines  and I want to like it!!! I really love Halo Halo, minus the beans as beans don’t belong in ice cream…lol. 🙂
  • Hide and Seeker – This was a fun middle grade horror!

Currently reading

Yes a bunch more middle grade! #MiddleGradeMay

  • Gone with the Wind – Made a bit more progress and I am on page 713 of 1023. I must say that right now Suellen is worse than Scarlett! I didn’t think that would be possible but what she did was deplorable! Will must really like Tara (the plantation). Listening to this and the narrator does a great job.
  • Project X – It’s a lot of fun hanging out with Ben and the gang again! On page 140 of 330.
  • Charlie Thorne and the Curse of Cleopatra – Made a little progress with this one but not quite a hundred pages into it, but it’s not bad. This series is probably my least favorite of Stuart Gibbs but it’s still good.
  • Egypt’s Fire – Just started this one so only about 7% into it but so far it’s not bad.

What might be up next

  1. I’ve been the same way with blogging. Slacking. 🙂 But I’m going to try and get back into pit this week. We’ll see how it goes lol. Same here with weather. It’s not super hot but it has definitely warmed up. Like you, I’ll take it.

Ooh The Penderwicks. I thought about reading that a while back but never did…

  2. I hope you decide what to do about the blog. I understand about the drive waxing and waning. I stopped blogging for three years and then started up again this January. Sometimes, you just have to step away for a while. Good luck!

  3. Nate the Great!!! I loved those books as a little kid.

Glad to see I’m not the only one who says that Charlie Thorne is his/her least favorite of Stuart Gibbs’s series. But I’m looking forward to the next Spy School this fall.

    • Oh I am also glad to see I am not the only one who doesn’t like Charlie Thorne as much…lol. Project X was a lot of fun! I love Spy School!

  4. I prefer the heat to all the rain too but I wish the mosquitoes would go away! I can deal with heat no problem and even don’t mind the humidity too much but the mosquitos are killing me! I think I remember looking at the first book in the Homicide and Halo-Halo and deciding not to pick it up. Or at least I think so – I may be getting it confused with another book. Have a great week!

I agree, I prefer heat to rain and it’s all we are getting. I don’t think a garden is happening this year because it been to wet to plow. I might do container tomatoes.

You should! I am not the greatest and I ramble a lot but it’s fun and I have made some cool friends and do live reading sprints with them!
