The Week In Review #349

The Week in Review is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and It’s Monday! What are you reading? Β If you have never joined in on these meme’s you can check them out by clicking on the meme and it will take you to the host blog.

So you remember last week when I showed you my lovely veggie garden and how proud I was of it. Yeah, then mother nature decided I shouldn’t have planted my garden and hit us with a snow, freeze and frost!!! πŸ™ So my pretty garden has dwindled to half of what it was. I lost all my eggplants, peppers, zucchini (well one zuc might survive) and all but three tomato plants (though the verdict is still out on those three) πŸ™ The survivors are my kale, lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage because they are heartier plants that can stand a bit more colder weather.Β  I did my best I had them covered with plastic, I froze my booty off several times the day it snowed trying to keep the snow scrapped off my plastic. We went to the nursery a few days ago for plants for round two! Hopefully the severely cold weather is over and I can plant again next week.

Here is a pic of one of my poor plants and one of the zucchini that I think might survive as it has some small leaves that are still alive and kicking!

Other than that happening not a lot of anything else happened this week, but this was bad enough…lol.

I don’t think I watched anything of interest this week either…lol. I didn’t continue with any of the series I have been watching, probably because I have been trying to listen to Needful Things and it’s a beast!!!

Have a great week and happy reading!

What you might have missed on my blog

Books I have added

Netgalley

  • A Brush with Murder – I have been hanging out on youtube and discord with some cozy lovers and now I just want to read cozies…lol. This one was just to cute looking not to grab. πŸ™‚

Won from Goodreads

  • The Diva Serves Forbidden Fruit – Newest book in this cozy series and I haven’t read any, so might need to try out book one soon…lol.

From Library

  • Lethal Licorice – This is the second book in the Amish Candy Shop series and I really liked the first one so thought I might try it.
  • Murder Past Due – I have heard a lot about this series and since they had the first one in the Cat in the Stack series I grabbed it.

Like I said about I chat with a bunch of cozy readers every day on discord and now I just want to read cozies…lol.

Books read last week

  • The Haunted Forest Tour – This was a fun Romp and Chomp book. Think Jurassic Park but with a forest and all sorts of creatures…lol.
  • Big Little Spies – I really enjoy this series and so excited to keep caught up with one of my cozies. πŸ™‚
  • Pride and Premeditation – This was a fun whodunit type retelling, there was certain things that I wasn’t a fan of but for the most part I really liked it. It was a little weird having my favorite characters in a different setting!
  • You’ll Thank Me For This – This was just kind of meh,Β  I was confused most of the time and you all know I am not a fan of being confused lol. I don’t even think there was a twist because I knew who was after the girl from the beginning that was so easy to figure out.

Currently reading

  • Needful Things – Retro read for this month and it’s a beast! Barb and I have decided next time we decide to read a huge King book to start the month before…lol. So this one is taking up all my audio time because I am listening to it to kind of help me get through it as it’s big and it’s a little over 20 hours. I am currently down to 10 hours!
  • The Beekeepers Apprentice – So nothing against the book but I just didn’t have time because I need to get Needful Things done before Thursday!

What might be up next

  1. Oh no- that’s not good about your plants! I hope you have lots of survivors… I wish I could grow that much stuff… πŸ™‚

Pride and Premeditation looks fun. Bummer about You’ll Thank Me For This.

  2. I am sorry about your plants, Stormi! I took my mom yesterday to get some plants for the raised garden we put together for her. Then I was talking to neighbor that knows a lot about gardening who told me to never plant a garden before Mother’s Day. Hopefully, she was wrong or I’ll be buying more plants soon. I hope that you enjoy your books and this week of reading!

  3. I have really enjoyed the Cat in the Stacks books but I was kind of meh on the first one. It took a book or two for me to really connect with the series. The Beekeeper’s Apprentice is a good one though it is one you have to really pay attention too. That sucks about your garden. Always disappointing when everything looks great and then the weather messes you up. Hopefully your books cheer you up and you’re having a good week!
