The Week In Review #348

The Week in Review is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and It’s Monday! What are you reading? Β If you have never joined in on these meme’s you can check them out by clicking on the meme and it will take you to the host blog.

I am ready for warmer weather! I am tired of the back and forth and my plants need nice weather! I have my garden planted now I have to rig up something to cover them because of the possibility of frost especially this coming Tuesday when there could be a freezing mix in APRIL! I don’t remember that ever happening where I live before. I am officially ready for summer. I know I am strange but I would rather sweat than freeze. πŸ™‚

Worked a lot planting this week and you can tell by the amount of audiobooks I got through this week. This time of the year my audio listening goes way up with taking walks, moving or being in the garden! Had to get stakes and some plastic for my garden since Winter wants to laugh at me and say you just thought I was going away and get down to 28 onΒ  Tuesday!

Saturday we had a craft day at church and I got talked into going…lol. I find I am to much of an overthinker to do crafts. πŸ™‚

I made a flower arrangement out of a book!! I said it was blasphemy but since the lady already had the whole cut out of it with the foam thing in I would go ahead and do it…lol.Β  I would never personally do that to a poor book.

Still working on watching Death in Paradise. I am on season 7 out of 10 and there isΒ  new DI, that is the third one in the series so far, you definitely can’t get use to your characters…lol.

What you might have missed on my blog

Books I have added

  • Murder at the Royal Botanic Gardens – Book 5 in one of my favorite historical mystery series and I can’t wait to be back with the characters!
  • You Will Remember Me – A guy has amnesia and two different women are looking for him for different reasons…hmmm.

Books read last week

  • Near the Bone – Absolutely hated this one. Sad to say I have gave up on the author. Out of four I have only loved one of her books. πŸ™
  • Killer Queen – Love this series! Nothing beats a fun cozy set in the 70’s. Listened to this one on 2x speed.
  • Shunned and Dangerous – Very enjoyable series set in Amish country! Listened to this on 1.75x speed
  • Suspendered Sentence – I really liked this one maybe more than the one above.
  • Assaulted Caramel – This was a good start to a series also set in Amish country! Listened to this on 1.75x speed.
  • Murder on Waverly Place – So I had to hurry up and listen to this because it was time for it to back to overdrive and they wouldn’t let me renew it because they didn’t have it anymore. They took the audios off, I am so sad. πŸ™ I love this historical series and this was good! Listened to this on 2x speed.

Made up for my lack of reading last week…lol. Can you tell it’s working in the garden time again! πŸ™‚

Currently reading

  • Pride and Premeditation – I am really liking this!
  • Needful Things – This is a reread for me. I am a bit nervous because I loved it as a teen but my taste have changed so will it hold up! Barb and I both reading this for our retro horror read! πŸ™‚
  • The Beekeeper’s Apprentice – I had to put this listen on hold as you can see above it was Amish in April and so I listened to a couple Amish books instead, plus the rush to listen to the one before it left my overdrive…lol. I am liking it and about 72% into it so almost done!

What might be up next

Wow! Your garden looks so neat, and amazing! You really put in some work! I wish there was a way warm air could be directly over our plants, but keep everywhere else cold.(lol) I really enjoy my cold weather. Kudos on the reading too! Hugs, RO

  2. I hope your garden is ok with cold weather coming, I’m impressed! (I can’t grow anything) And that book flower arrangement is something I’ve never seen before! It hurts to think that poor book had a hole cut out of it, lol. Have a good week, Stormi😁

  3. Yeah, the back and forth weather is annoying. I feel like that’s our normal spring in my neck of the woods. And I hate it. Makes it hard to dress for work when it’s freezing when I go in and hot when I leave. Eck. I’m ready for fall! Lol! πŸ˜€

Nice new reads! Those are new to me ones but I hope you enjoy them!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

  4. LOVE the garden, I am so annoyed I haven’t been able to do mine yet. It might be in May and I might do a few plants and not like I usually do. I just want fresh tomtatoes and basil. The weather has been crappy here also. Cold and warm. Like pick one, hopefully cold πŸ˜‰

Have a great week, Stormi! Happy Reading! xx

  5. I have so much admiration for people who garden! I’m terrible at it. My garden is so overgrown with weeds, I don’t even know where to start. I hope your plants survive the freeze. The books you listened to sound fun, and I’m glad you’re enjoying The Beekeeper’s Apprentice even if you didn’t get to read it today.

I know what you mean about destroying books for crafts… but honestly, there are so many books that end up in landfills because no one wants them (even used bookstores.) Better they should get a second life as a pretty decoration than end up in the trash. I framed three color plates from an old book that was completely falling apart — not mine; I rescued it from the trash for precisely that purpose. The book didn’t even have its cover anymore, but the plates were in pretty good condition, and the art is by my step-great-grandpa, so it’s fun to have it on my walls.

  6. Yay I love having the garden planted. It’s warmer here but I’m used to all the years in MN where you couldn’t plant until Memorial Day. I love the Victoria Thompson historical mysteries. I listened to the first 7 or 8 but when they changed narrator I had to switch to ebook.

  7. Wow that looks like quite the garden. I’m not that organized. πŸ™‚ Although I’d like to be. Death in PAradise sounds fun.

Murder at the Royal Botanic Gardens looks fun. I want to read that April Henry too- heard it’s a trip. Oh wait I just looked closer- you gave it one start. Er, maybe not lol.

  8. I liked the 2nd Death in Paradise guy. Killer Queen sounds great. I have Lethal Licorice on my TBR shelf. We are going to have cold weather here on Tues and Wed and I do not appreciate that at all!

  9. I have some perfectionist tendencies which does not pair well with the inability to make my hands do what I see in my head so I get frustrated very easily with crafts but the flowers look great and I like the book thing. Creative but I would need to be assured that the book was in bad shape before it was dismantled! I’m so glad you’re enjoying the Laurie R King! I’m reading the new Victoria Thompson and I always forget how much I enjoy that series until I pick one up. Have a great week!
