The Week In Review #301

May 24, 2020 Memes 16

The Week in Review is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and It’s Monday! What are you reading?  If you have never joined in on these meme’s you can check them out by clicking on the meme and it will take you to the host blog.

Another week and pretty much same old thing. Even though a lot of things have opened up we still don’t go out much, our only luxury is hitting our favorite Chinese place after church since we can go inside now. We haven’t ventured out to any other places. We never do anything for Memorial Day anyway so that won’t be any different. Hardly anyone in our area wears mask so I always feel stupid going out with it but I do anyway cause of dad. He is older and more susceptible to things and I won’t be the cause of him getting sick.

Weather wise it’s been chilly, then rainy/storms then a couple day break but then starting on Monday it shows storms all week again and I am so sick of rain. I don’t want a drought but a month off of rain would be nice!

We watched Survive the Night starring Bruce Willis and Chad Michael Murray and it was okay, dad enjoyed it. It was about a family trying to make it through the night after a couple robbers (one who was unhinged) needs a doctor (Murray) to stitch one of them up. It was nothing original but entertaining enough.

Still playing Guns of Glory and I think I have finally messed up the tendons in my wrist from holding the phone a certain way as it really hurts and is tingly but still I want to play…lol. I have let up a little but not much but I fear I am going to have to limit my phone game playing if I can. Here are pics of what it looks like, each person has their own castle in an alliance.

What you might have missed on my blog

Books I have added

Netgalley

  • No One Saw – Read book one in February and so when I was sent a link to this one and asked if I wanted to read it for blog tour I jumped on it. I really enjoyed the first one Ten Days Gone so can’t wait to see if book two is just as good!
  • Dwarf Story For Arty to miss a day of school, either he is very, very sick or a fairytale-character turf-war has begun in his backyard — such as what begins this particular Wednesday. Not sure about you but this sentence made me want this…lol. Hope it’s cute.

Books read last week

  • The Stolen Letter – The latest book in the Scottish Bookshop Mystery. I enjoyed it and just love the Scottish setting!
  • And Then There Were None – Been wanting to read this one for a while so I am glad that Barb and I buddy read this one and can see why those who have read it really like it. Also I can see a lot of newer books that have taken from this close circle mystery.
  • Death Brings a Shadow – This is the latest book in The Gilded Age Mystery series and I really liked it! I just love historical mysteries! I also like being caught up on another series…lol.

Currently reading

  • The Mouse Watch – This is cute and I could finish it if I could just concentrate on reading. Audios are my thing right now cause I can’t seem to put down my phone game! 50% into it.
  • The Fallen Girls – Like I needed to start another book but I have a blog tour coming up so I must get this one read!
  • Titan’s Day – Not really read on it but I need to so I am putting it here.
  • How The Light Gets In – I need to get into this series more if I am going to catch up this year as it is a goal. This is #9 and #16 comes out in September so would like to be caught up by then if I can! 🙂

What might be up next

  1. Jessica @ a GREAT read

We keep getting told there’s going to be rain but never get any. I guess you’re keeping it all! Lol. That Survive the Night sounds familiar, but I don’t think I ever saw it. I know I first thought of Danielle Vega’s book of the same title that I thought was optioned for film and was wondering did I miss it releasing already?! Lol. But yeah, it definitely wasn’t about a robbery gone awry.

Nice new read too! That’s a new to me one. I hope you enjoy it!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

    • Stormi

Well, you can have all our rain! 🙂 I am so sick of it. Yeah, Survive the Night has been done many times before, I think people will watch this one if they enjoy watching the actors/ess not because it was anything original…lol.

  2. Berls

Sounds like you have a nice routine going with your church and Chinese lunch 😁. I think it’s smart to wear your mask – it’s a shame others aren’t doing it. Around here, if you go to the store almost everyone has a mask on. If everyone would wear a mask (& properly) then we could seriously slow the spread of this thing.

Careful that wrist! Lol game injuries – my step son thinks he’s developing carpal tunnel because of game playing 🤣. I laugh because it’s the weirdest way to get an injury. But seriously, careful!

Have a great week and stay safe!

    • Stormi

Yep, we have a Sunday routine lol. For a while it was messed up with just going through the drive thru and so not the same…lol. Yeah, I hate wearing them so I get it and I think because we don’t have many cases here and it’s not talked about as much in the local news people think we don’t need the mask. We have only 16 cases in our county (19 small towns). I just do it cause I don’t want to be the reason dad gets sick or I probably wouldn’t…lol.

Yep, my wrist hurts and is all tingly all the time, some times it has this weird heated feeling. I have had problems before from typing on the computer a lot. I know I need to slow down but it’s hard I am addicted…lol.

  3. Tammy @ Books, Bones & Buffy

It sucks that people aren’t wearing masks. I’m determined to stay in as much as possible and let everyone else be stupid and cram the beaches, etc. I’ll be reading The Only Good Indians very soon too😁

    • Stormi

We don’t go many places, walmart, aldis, church, chinese place…lol. 🙂 I would never go to a place like the beach or lake where they crammed themselves in as that is really just asking to get sick. 🙁

I hurt my pinky with phone games! They’re dangerous! I got No One Saw too and it looks so good. I loved the first book so I can’t wait to see what happens next. We are about 50/50 here with mask wearing. I finally broke down and ordered cloth ones for myself and my husband so we don’t have to wear the heavy duty N95 masks anymore. They’re absolutely miserable. Have a great week!

    • Stormi

Yeah, keeping my hand, wrist in a certain way I guess was a bad thing but I really didn’t think about it till the tingling started and now even typing this is making it hurt. 🙁

I wish we were even 50/50 here but it’s more like 25% I would say, mostly older folks too. I keep sewing trying to make one I like but it’s not going great…lol.

  5. Greg

You do feel kinda self- conscious going out with a mask when almost no one else does, huh? lol I’ve had that same feeling. A lot of people are just kinda not doing it! I’ve had people actually try to talk me out of it! I’m like, live and let live. I would never hassle someone about it lol.

They’re not fun though ugh. I feel for the people who have to wear them for hours on end at work. How do they breathe???

Anyway hope your reads are good this week!

    • Stormi

Yeah, I am shy by nature so going out and having people stare at me and my mask is hard lol. Yeah, I don’t think I could work all day with one…ugh.

  6. Carole

I don’t like wearing a mask either but I don’t want to spread anything so I wear one. We haven’t been to a restaurant yet but I am glad that you have been able to go out and enjoy yourself. I hope you enjoy your new books and have a great week!

  7. Laura Thomas

We have to wear masks at work but they don’t make the customers wear them. Don’t understand that at all. And we finally got some rain and everything looks so clean and green.
