The Week In Review #3

Week ReviewWelcome to this weeks The Week In Reviews. This is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and Monday! What are You Reading?

This week was my first full week of work and it was sort of slow. I think that Scholastic went a bit overboard in hiring people to take orders for their books this year as I remember last year being busier. This go around I have had plenty of time in between orders to get in some reading. If I was a faster reader I bet I could have finished more than just one I won’t lie though I like it being a little slow so I can get paid for reading..hehehe.

I would like to take a few minutes to invite some of my lovely blogging friends to be a guest on my blog in October. I am trying out something new on the blog and if it gets over well then I will do it every year. It’s  called Monsters, Madmen, Mayhem. Oh my!  I am looking for bloggers and authors that would like to be on my blog for a guest post or guest review. Something that goes with a spooky or Halloween theme type guest post. I am excited to have Bethany Griffin (The Fall), Emily Ford (Hell Town) and Laurie Faria Stolarz (Welcome to the Dark House) will have a post.  I am hoping for some more authors but we will see.  I am also doing a giveaway during the month so hopefully it will be a lot of fun!  Email me at if you would like to be a part of it!

Oh and if anyone had trouble posting on my blog the past couple days, I do apologize. I didn’t know it wasn’t working right until a couple of blogging friends point it out to me. I had uploaded a stop spam comments plugin and for some reason it interferes. All is taken care of thank God and I am ready for those comments. 🙂

Reviews on the blog last week:

Stormi’s reviews:

The School of Good and Evil by Soman Chainani (Was a cute story but a bit long for my liking)

Blackbird by Anna Carey (I’m sorry to say I had to DNF this one. Just couldn’t stand that second person POV)

Kathy reviews:

The Hangman’s Revolution by Eion Colfer (I always wanted to try this author but looks like Kathy wasn’t to keen on this one.)

Bitter Spirits by Jenn Bennett (This one sounds like a to get me a copy!)

The Competition by Marcia Clark (I still need to read the first one in this series.)

Ghost Ship by Clive Cussler and Graham Brown (I really need to read Clive Cussler, can’t believe I haven’t yet!)

Other things going on on my blog:

The followers have voted and so my first TBR list voted book from the new meme hosted by Michelle at Because Reading will be The Pines by Blake Crouch. I hope you”ll picked me a good I have been wanting to read this one for a while and now that it’s going to be a TV series I am even more curious. So look for my review of this book on the last Saturday of this month.

What’s going on around the Blogosphere.

Michelle from Because Reading has some good author spotlights plus her review of Mary: The Summoning.

Berls from Fantasy is More Fun has her running commentary on the Outlander series (Since I haven’t read the books but am watching the series I find them very, she also reviews her first horror novel in episodes, Cruelty 1-5 and it sounds like something I want to read.

Lexxie from Unconventional Book Reviews as a discussion about the organization of her ebooks, and a review for Falling for Max.

Kimberly at Caffeinated Book Reviewer has the sign up for the Ho Ho Ho Holiday read-a-thon. I think I am going to join up so come on out and join me! She also has reviews of Ugly Love and  Rights of Passage.

Ashley from Nose Graze has a discussion about Reconstructing your blog and some tips and tricks. She also reviewed Ugly Love and I really like getting the two different perspectives of this book from two of my fav. blogges. 🙂

  1. You got the Throne of glass at such a cheap price, you’re lucky ! I’ve already seen the comparison between the Iron trial and Harry Potter on other blogs. Enjoy your book haul and have a great week !

I did indeed! I know there are comparisons to HP, but I am just saying I don’t think it’s exactly like HP, there seems to be a lot of people on Good Reads that don’t even look like they have read it that are calling it a HP rip off and I don’t see it as that at all. I mean come on there was kids and magic before HP ever came around, it’s hard to write a book these days without people calling it a rip off and sometimes it’s not fair to the book. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by and you have a great week too!

I have had a lot of blogger friends keep telling me read it’s going to be the first on my new post called Shotgun reading. Sort of the book version of Shotgun 🙂

  2. I just bought a hard copy of Throne of Glass (I have an ARC and a digital). I missed my chance to meet Maas last week. I just wasn’t up to the traveling and heard it was packed. Some day! I love that series so much. I really want to read The Iron Trial (missed meeting them, too, boo!). Enjoy your haul. My STS

Oh that is to bad that you missed being able to see the author. I never get to see any authors, I live to far away from any place they might come. 🙁 Thanks for stopping by!

I hope I do too! I am so leery of hyped books cause I tend to not like them, but I am diving Thanks for stopping by!

  3. Throne of Glass is wonderful. I still haven’t read the newest release but I’m trying to get to it as soon as possible. I bought House Immortal but I still haven’t gotten it in the mail.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and thanks for stopping by Tynga’s Reviews.

With all these wonderful people I know telling me how good it is I just couldn’t help but grab it up so I can see what I think. 🙂 Hope you get a copy of the new one soon. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by.

  4. I’m all for visiting other peoples’ blogs and commenting on their posts. It’s awesome. but when you copy and paste the same message it’s kind of rude to link your haul. People leave genuine comments on your post, so why do you feel the need to leave copy and paste ones that are so fake?

    • ladystorm

I don’t know why you would think my comment to you was a cut and paste. I don’t cut and paste if you see my comments on anyone else’s stack it’s not the same. I left my link so you could come comment on my stack..umm I do believe others left their link as well. I am sorry you thought my comment rude. I thought the whole point of this meme was to visit each others blogs, forgive me if I am wrong. 🙁

  5. Very nice haul, Stormi! I want to read Throne of Glass, too. But I’m trying very hard to read the books I have already on my kindle… even if I did add more anyway.
Thanks for linking to my discussion post 🙂 It’s fun when a real discussion starts on those.
I hope you’ll enjoy all your new books. Happy reading .

  6. Some dark, scary books on your stack this week! I enjoyed The Competition very much and have Bitter Spirits on my wishlist. Thanks for sharing and glad you fixed the problem– I’m a new follower and couldn’t comment the other day and thought I did something wrong 🙂
Enjoy your week, and have a blast reading.

  7. That’s too bad that Blackbird didn’t work out, I have that one to read soon but I’ve seen a lot of dislike for the 2nd person narration style, so I’m really not sure if I’ll like it or not. Ice Shear does sound like a good read…

I’m looking forward to the Hohoho readathon too, lots of great autumn-y and holiday features and readathons happening…

  8. Lots of creepy books, I love the cover of The Fall. What a bargain for Throne of Glass, it’s on my TBR mountain too. Have a great week and happy reading 🙂
