This week was my first full week of work and it was sort of slow. I think that Scholastic went a bit overboard in hiring people to take orders for their books this year as I remember last year being busier. This go around I have had plenty of time in between orders to get in some reading. If I was a faster reader I bet I could have finished more than just one book..lol. I won’t lie though I like it being a little slow so I can get paid for reading..hehehe.
I would like to take a few minutes to invite some of my lovely blogging friends to be a guest on my blog in October. I am trying out something new on the blog and if it gets over well then I will do it every year. It’s called Monsters, Madmen, Mayhem. Oh my! I am looking for bloggers and authors that would like to be on my blog for a guest post or guest review. Something that goes with a spooky or Halloween theme type guest post. I am excited to have Bethany Griffin (The Fall), Emily Ford (Hell Town) and Laurie Faria Stolarz (Welcome to the Dark House) will have a post. I am hoping for some more authors but we will see. I am also doing a giveaway during the month so hopefully it will be a lot of fun! Email me at email@example.com if you would like to be a part of it!
Oh and if anyone had trouble posting on my blog the past couple days, I do apologize. I didn’t know it wasn’t working right until a couple of blogging friends point it out to me. I had uploaded a stop spam comments plugin and for some reason it interferes. All is taken care of thank God and I am ready for those comments. 🙂
The School of Good and Evil by Soman Chainani (Was a cute story but a bit long for my liking)
Blackbird by Anna Carey (I’m sorry to say I had to DNF this one. Just couldn’t stand that second person POV)
The Hangman’s Revolution by Eion Colfer (I always wanted to try this author but looks like Kathy wasn’t to keen on this one.)
Bitter Spirits by Jenn Bennett (This one sounds like a winner..got to get me a copy!)
The Competition by Marcia Clark (I still need to read the first one in this series.)
Ghost Ship by Clive Cussler and Graham Brown (I really need to read Clive Cussler, can’t believe I haven’t yet!)
Other things going on on my blog:
The followers have voted and so my first TBR list voted book from the new meme hosted by Michelle at Because Reading will be The Pines by Blake Crouch. I hope you”ll picked me a good one..lol. I have been wanting to read this one for a while and now that it’s going to be a TV series I am even more curious. So look for my review of this book on the last Saturday of this month.
Michelle from Because Reading has some good author spotlights plus her review of Mary: The Summoning.
Berls from Fantasy is More Fun has her running commentary on the Outlander series (Since I haven’t read the books but am watching the series I find them very helpful..lol), she also reviews her first horror novel in episodes, Cruelty 1-5 and it sounds like something I want to read.
Lexxie from Unconventional Book Reviews as a discussion about the organization of her ebooks, and a review for Falling for Max.
Kimberly at Caffeinated Book Reviewer has the sign up for the Ho Ho Ho Holiday read-a-thon. I think I am going to join up so come on out and join me! She also has reviews of Ugly Love and Rights of Passage.
Ashley from Nose Graze has a discussion about Reconstructing your blog and some tips and tricks. She also reviewed Ugly Love and I really like getting the two different perspectives of this book from two of my fav. blogges. 🙂
Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas ( I have seen a ton of positive reviews on this all my blogging friends are telling me I really need to read this one and it was only .99 on amazon at the time I decided to buy it..boy did I get lucky..lol.)
House Immortal by Devon Monk (audio)
Storm (Salt #2) by Danielle Ellison
Thank you Tantor audio and Entangled Publishing!
I did really good this week!!!! 🙂
Ice Shear by M. P. Cooley (review to come next week) (audiobook)
Of Monsters and Madness by Jessica Verday(review to come Oct. 1st)
Blackbird by Anna Carey (DNF)
The Iron Trial by Holly Black and Cassandra Clare (I am currently 40% in and for those who thinks it’s a HP rip off I am not really finding it to be anything like HP..yes some similarities..but most books of the same genre or type have similarities.)
Twist (Mageri #2) by Dannika Dark (Not really feeling this book, but I am trying. I have two more of the books to review in audio so I am hoping I like it a bit more. I am only about an hour in and it’s ten hours so there is time for me to still like it..right? 🙂
It by Steven King (This one is going to take me a while and I want to review it in Oct. so I best get started now. 🙂
Pines by Blake Crouch (Because it was picked for my TBR pile read. I might not get to this one just yet but never know my mood)
The Fall by Bethany Griffin (for the R.I.P. Challenge and to review during Monsters, Madmen, Mayhem. Oh my!)
So there you have it. This is what has been going on with me and my blog and some of what is coming next. Send me a link to your STS,TSP, etc and I will go take a look! 🙂
