The Week In Review #296

April 19, 2020 Misc. 8

The Week in Review is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and It’s Monday! What are you reading?  If you have never joined in on these meme’s you can check them out by clicking on the meme and it will take you to the host blog.

So another boring week here at home, though we did venture out and get groceries. I am not a fan of shopping with a mask on I feel stupid!  The weather has been up and down and not very spring like! Next week looks better.

Don’t really have a whole lot to say this week. We watched Call of the Wild which was actually better than I thought it would be.

Welllll, stay safe and happy reading!

What you might have missed on my blog

Books I have added

Netgalley

  • Lineage Most Lethal – I really enjoyed the first book so I am excited for this one. Goodreads doesn’t have a blurb so no clue what it’s about except genealogy! I just love the cover because it is a family tree but looks like a skull!! 🙂
  • Someone’s Listening – So this line pulled me in! – She wrote the book on escaping a predator Now one is coming for her. So I knew I would grab it…lol.
  • Puppy Kisses – I absolutely love this series! This is the third book and it’s about the sister Dawn, a cute golden retriever and a sexy cowboy, what more do you need…lol.

Books read last week

  • Another Man’s Moccasins – Okay, so I am not really seeing why this is such a popular series! I think I have been tainted by the tv show…lol. It’s just not as good as the show.
  • Written in Stone – I really like this series and it had been a while since I started it but I am determined to finish it as part of my catch up on cozies campaign…lol.
  • Poisoned Prose – Binging the series because of what I said above. 🙂 It’s a good one!
  • Proof of Murder – This one keeps me caught up on a series! Determined to try and stay up on cozies that are newer! I can’t say this is a favorite as really some things just ticks me off and I feel like the MC has teenage angst but at the same time I keep listening to it…lol.

Currently reading

  • What I Like About Me – I am over halfway through it and it’s not bad but the teen angst gets to me sometimes.
  • Deeplight – Not really gotten far into this one but it’s crunch time if I want to get it done for the readathon I am doing on booktube!
  • Hood Academy – I am about 10% into this one and so not really much opinion about it. It’s for the readathon too! UGH.
  • The Funhouse – My retro read for this month. I am a bit worried as I found out Owen West is actually Dean Koontz and I wasn’t a fan of his other old book I read. Hope he got better in the few years between that one and this one…lol.
  • Lethal Letters – I am over halfway done with this one as I continue to binge the series!

What might be up next

This will finish out the series as there hasn’t been any for this series since 2017 so I am thinking it’s finished anyway.

How was your week? What did you get?

I guess boring is better than sick 👍. I know, the masks feel weird, but then you see everyone else wearing them too and it’s like a strange sort of comroderie. Like, we’re in this mess together, at least.

Stay safe! Have a great week 🤗

  2. Jessica @ a GREAT read

I actually stayed in yesterday. My stepdad did an initial grocery run and got the main things that we needed. The few things that we didn’t get can probably wait until next week. I haven’t gotten a mask for myself yet. My work is supposed to be supplying them hopefully this coming week, so hopefully I can get one then. I tried using a scarf last week and it was awkward. Mostly because I couldn’t get it to say where I needed it properly and it was hard to breathe. Then at the first store I went to, only about 1/5 people wore one and I passed maybe 20 people altogether.

Nice new reads. Those are all new to me ones but I hope you will enjoy them all!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

I love the cover for The Funhouse. I wasn’t aware Deen Koontz wrote under the name Owen West. I do know The Funhouse is the novelization of the 1981 horror film directed by Tom Hooper, which I have seen a few times. Recently, I read The Eyes of Darkness written by Koontz, which was originally published under the pseudonym Leigh Nichols.

ooo, you got some posts I missed. I’ll be back later for those . I feel odd wearing the mask too. It’s not comfortable and my glasses fog up. Stilesl, a necessary inconvenience. Bah humbug.

Happy reading and enjoy your series binge!

I’m not a huge fan of the masks lol! Only because they’re uncomfortable. Isn’t this virus thing fun? Not!

    Someone’s Listening sounds fun!

  6. Aj @ Read All The Things!

I hate the masks too! They’re hot, and ugly, and fog up glasses, and sometimes I’m the only person wearing one. I guess it’s better than spreading disease. It also provides an incentive to stay inside because I don’t want to put it on. I have to think if I REALLY want to go outside.
