The Week In Review #294

The Week in Review is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and It’s Monday! What are you reading?  If you have never joined in on these meme’s you can check them out by clicking on the meme and it will take you to the host blog.

Welcome to another week in this new wild and crazy world we live in! It’s official starting Monday Missouri is going into lockdown, no more roaming free unless getting foods, or going to essential jobs. I don’t know if it’s happening everywhere but I heard Walmart will be limiting how many can go in the store at one time. If people wanted a little taste of socialism where here it is folks! Waiting in line all day just to get you some groceries! Good times! NOT!!!!! (That’s my political rant for the week.)

So I haven’t been on my blog much this week as I have been trying to figure out how to make a mask. I should have practiced more with my sewing machine in my younger years, but nope it has been sitting in my closet waiting for me to decide to learn to quilt as that was what I got it for to begin with but nope. So now it’s getting a fair amount of use trying to make a mask. I keep practicing till I think I finally have it then I will make the real deal…but they still won’t be pretty but as long as it does the job I guess that is what matters.

The weather this week is about as crazy as the world is! One day it’s like 72 then it storms and the next day doesn’t get above 34! I’m so ready for some nice steady warm weather without all this up and down crap. I need something good to happen like warm weather!

Okay, I have ranted and rambled enough so on to the good stuff like books!!!

Have as good a week as you can and happy reading!

What you might have missed on my blog

Books I have added

Netgalley

  • Hunting November – The sequel to Killing November and I can’t wait to give it a try and fingers crossed it is as good as the first one!

And lots and lots of freebies! 🙂

Books read last week

  • Kindness Goes Unpunished – Third book in the Longmire series and it was just okay.
  • The Dark Corners of the Night – I finally got it finished. It was really good, I just wasn’t in the mood and that can dampen your love of a book.
  • The Wizards of Once – This was a cute MG book and was made even better by the fact that it was narrated by David Tennant!

Currently reading

  • Titanshade – So far this is pretty decent. I am about 37% into it and it really does feel like a noir crime novel.
  • The Deceivers – This one is decent so far too but only about 19% into it so only time will tell. 🙂

What might be up next

Okay to be honest I haven’t a clue, my reading has been kind of moody and I know if I put something here I won’t read it…lol. 🙂

How was your week? What did you get?

  1. Yeah, I had to wait in the line at Walmart yesterday too. I woke up early so I could get there just around its opening time, but there was a line already. Once I got in though it was smoother sailing. Until checkout when I got behind a couple who wasn’t used to the self-checkout lane. It always aggravates me when people who have no clue how to operate that decide to use that instead of waiting in the cashier line. I had two orders I was trying to accomplish so it was easier for me to be in the self-checkout anyway.

Wishing I had some kind of sewing skill for creating a mask, but alas, I do not. So I get to go to work everyday in panic mode and have to act chill while there as no one is wearing a mask or taking precautions. So I strive to keep myself as far away as I can from everyone!

Nice new reads! Those are new to me ones but I hope you will enjoy them all!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

I haven’t had to wait in a line yet, but heard that was going to be the next phase. We won’t be doing anymore shopping till dads check on the 15th so at least I don’t have to go anywhere till then. I can’t believe they are not at least supplying you with mask if you have to work. Is your job really deemed essential? They can’t let you guys work from home? No clue what you do but stay safe! Look for some non sewing ways to make mask. They don’t have to look pretty to protect you. I have seen some using a bandana rolled up with rubber bands tucked in them and they look pretty decent. Might not be hospital worthy but work, so check out youtube!

      Stay safe and happy reading!

  2. California has been in lockdown for three weeks, I think? I’m actually grateful for the way stores limit the amount of people who can go in, I hate being within 20 feet of anyone these days! The trick is finding that sweet day/time where there aren’t any lines.

    • Stormi

I don’t mind the distancing, but if all states don’t lockdown then does it really make a difference. If someone from say someone from a non lockdown state travels to our state that is lockdown, maybe they do or don’t have the virus. If one state is going to lockdown they all should or in my opinion it doesn’t really stop the virus.

I am just feeling ranty as I am not for government control of my life but not much I can do about it. I don’t have to venture out for groceries till around the 15th, so no telling what things might look like then but that is when we will have a bit of money.

      Stay safe!

  3. Good luck with lockdown haha! We’ve been under one for a few weeks now and hopefully it’s gonna help get this thing under control. I think stores have been limiting here too- well, some lol. Was at the store the other day and there were TONS of people there- whole families, so clearly not every store here is doing it!

I go later too as there are less people around at night. 🙂

Same with masks haha! everyone is scrambling now…

I can’t WAIT to read Hunting November!

    • Stormi

Yeah, I am already ranty and it doesn’t start till tomorrow! By next weekend I could be a lot more moody…lol. We don’t have to go out till after the 15th or so, so we shall see how ranty I am in a couple of weeks! 🙂

I know they are like make your own mask! Well not everyone just has material lying around to make mask with or the sewing ability…lol. Who would have thought I would have to add mask making supplies to my shopping cart!

I hope we both enjoy Hunting November!

  4. We went under lockdown starting Saturday night. I’m not sure what will really change for us as we’ve only been leaving the house for takeout or groceries. The only thing I’m questioning is that it specified “Solitary outside exercise” so I guess no taking walks as a family? I mean it makes sense I guess because people have no sense and are getting together in large groups to go for walks and whatnot but still! Have a great week!

    • Stormi

Yeah, I don’t know. It’s all just a pain and I am ranty…lol. My dad and I met up with two friends the other day at the park with take out. We sat on one end of the picnic table and they sat on the other end with about six feet between us…lol. It was nice to socialize a bit. They are older and not techie so it’s not like I can say lets video chat as the woman can verily operate her smart phone to make calls. I think walks as a family as in immediate family like husband wife and kids are okay but yeah, no let’s get the whole large family and friends together type walks…lol.

  5. The world is definitely so different now, with, indeed, the supermarket limitations.
I’m a teacher from home now and my whole social life and teamsports life is gone.

Just stay safe and healthy! We’ll get through this 🙂

  6. Some of the stores here in Massachusetts have begun limiting the number of people inside. I don’t love it but it helps cut down the virus spread and the hoarding of goods. With supply lines and businesses having to adapt to the different demands on goods and products, it won’t be a quick process. Patience is not one of my virtues but I’m trying.

Enjoy your new books and good luck making the masks.

    • Stormi

It doesn’t help cut down that much spreading of the virus if people still keep gathering in large groups elsewhere. 🙁 I am just really ranty, couped up with my father is very trying as he gets bored and wants to go somewhere and I am like NO!

      Stay safe and happy reading!

  7. I bet you were thrilled to get that sequel from Netgalley. Our Wal-Mart started doing that the day after I last went so I will see how it goes. You did inspire me to make some masks but rather than break out the sewing machine, I went the no-sew method. Now there’s a sentence I never thought I’d write.

Stay safe my friend and tell dad to stay put 🙂

    • Stormi

I was excited to get that sequel! We don’t have to venture out till next week so no telling what might be happening by then! Well, I have been wanting to practice sewing so I guess this is a good excuse! 🙂 Blah!
