The Week In Review #293

March 29, 2020 Memes 10

The Week in Review is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and It’s Monday! What are you reading?  If you have never joined in on these meme’s you can check them out by clicking on the meme and it will take you to the host blog.

I am sure I am not the only one that is ready for 2020 to be over, who would have thought a new decade would be so complicated! Isolating and staying home isn’t much different than how I usually am but it’s the thought that they government is telling me to stay in that makes me wrestles and not being able to just go when I want to is grating on my nerves.

Our church is having a drive in, sit in your car service today so I am excited about that as I can get out and go to church but not be in contact with everyone. Not sure how they plan on doing things but it’s a big church with a pretty decent sound system, so guess they are setting it up outside…lol. It’s times like these that I need to be able to go to church!

My reading has been strange but hasn’t stopped. I think I am just more interested in audiobooks than ebook or print.

We will attempt to replenish some foods around the first of April, I so hope this quarantine crap is over soon. We do have some squirrels around my house that are trying to make a home in our house. Someone should warn them that it’s times like these where they are not cute but considered food! 🙂

Have as great a week as you can and read a good book or two! 🙂

What you might have missed on my blog

Books I have added

Netgalley

  • The Essence of Darkness – Five unexplained child disappearances have plagued the small town of St. Marys in the space of four months. All the elements indicate that these are abductions. FBI Special Agent Elliott Cooper is sent to investigate. Sounds pretty cool, right! 🙂

From Publisher

  • Deeplight – The blub said Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea meets Frankenstein so of course I was intrigued! Thanks Amulet Books!

From author

  • The Goodbye Family and the Great Mountain – It’s a middle grade book with simple illustrations about the weird west undertakers Otis, Pyridine and their daughter Orphie. It sounds cute.

Books read last week

  • Cross Her Heart – I really enjoyed this one and look forward to trying other books by this author.
  • The Secrets of Winterhouse – I enjoyed Winterhouse so much I jumped into the second book in this trilogy.
  • A Tangled Yarn – This is a series I enjoy though it’s not a favorite, but I am wanting to get caught up and think I have two left.
  • The Future King – I have really enjoyed this series so I was kind of itching to find out what happens next, only problem is now I have to wait for The Timeless One to find out what happens next! Boo

Currently reading

  • Kindness Goes Unpunished – I should be over halfway through this by today! I am enjoying it.
  • The Dark Corners of the Night – I am over 60% in and I just need to stick to it and finish. I have just been more in a MG mood than mystery which is very weird…lol.
  • The Deceivers – Not read much from this one but hope to finish it up this week.

What might be up next

How was your week? What did you get?

  1. Jessica @ a GREAT read

Sounds like a busy week! Glad you’re able to keep busy for the most part! I would not mine being able to stay home and not go out. Sadly, I still have to work everyday with over 10 people in the building, so I’m pretty stressed when I am at work. No one seems to care really as no precautions are taken anywhere. So yeah…I might have to take a vacation day or two after this week just because I’ve been so stressed lately!

Nice new reads! All new to me ones but I hope you enjoy them all!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

I’m definitely ready for 2020 to be over. It’s been horrible and we’re only three months into it.

The Melinda Leigh book looks really good. I’m going to check that one out.

Thank you for the hugs for my cat and for visiting my blog.

    Take care and stay safe.

  3. Berls

Hahaha watch out squirrels, you’re about to be dinner! Lol!

Seriously, 2020 really knows how to disappoint, doesn’t it? I was all geared up to start a new decade and a fresh chapter. *sigh*

Stay safe and I hope church goes great today!

  4. Nicci @ Sunny Buzzy Books

You’ve summed up how I feel about self-isolation/social distancing etc perfectly! I too am perfectly happy staying in and keeping to myself but the minute I know I CANT go out I start tweaking. It’s so strange! lol

Stay safe and fingers crossed this passes before too long!

Haha about the squirrels! And that’s cool about your church service. We’ve been watching on stream the last few Sundays. It is hard when we can’t get out of the house- I mean as an introvert it doesn’t bother me all that much but I know it’s driving some people crazy!

Hope you’re well this week Stormi!

  6. Bea's Book Nook

Drive-in church service sounds interesting. My church has been doing services, coffee hour, and other events and meetings online using YouTube and Zoom. It’s been pretty decent.

    Stay safe, and happy reading!

  7. Barb @ Booker T's Farm

I love that your church found a way to hold services. I think it’s so important at times like these because so many people need to keep it in their lives. It’s times like this church can be the most comforting. You guys pulled it off and didn’t even have to mess up the social distancing!

We had some very warm temps this weekend but now it’s back in the 50s. At least the sun is shining. And hey, at least you’re getting lots of books read no matter what the format.

  8. Katherine @ I Wish I Lived in a Library

I’ve seen a few churches do either drive in or online services which I think is such a great idea! I’m not quite sure I’ll ever get squirrel hungry but luckily my husband was able to find not squirrel meat so I won’t have to test that theory for a bit. Have a great week and try not to go too stir crazy!
