The Week In Review #284

January 26, 2020 Memes 19

The Week in Review is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and It’s Monday! What are you reading?  If you have never joined in on these meme’s you can check them out by clicking on the meme and it will take you to the host blog.

Have I mentioned before that I hate the cold! 🙂 Our house is so drafty and I think winter might have finally set in here and my upstairs room is chilly…brrr. We got lucky and the snow mostly went around us and we just got a little dusting that was gone the next day.

Anyway not a whole lot going on here but hunkering down under covers…lol. Trying to remember what I watched this week…hmmm. Oh, I watched Dumbo and it was cute, well mostly Dumbo was cute but the movie wasn’t to bad. I also starte the new netflix series October Faction it’s based on a graphic novel series that I haven’t read but heard about from Barb. (My library has a horrible GN section and I couldn’t find it on overdrive or hoopla so boo. 🙁  ) It’s okay, not like the best thing ever but entertaining enough.

Well that’s about it so happy reading and have a great week!

What you might have missed on my blog

Books I have added

Netgalley

  • The Future King – I really liked the first book and I have the second one and meant to read it but time got away from me last year so I will be getting to it soon and so I had to grab the next one. 🙂

Kindle buy

  • Death by Dumpling – I have always seen this one around and thought it looked cool and since I have some GC money to play around with and it was on sale for $1.99 I grabbed it! 🙂

Books read last week

  • The Cold Dish – The first in the series Barb and I decided to try and it was okay but not great so I hope the series gets better!
  • The Bachelor – You guys might have seen my review of Project Duchess and how much I enjoyed it and I couldn’t wait to dive into book two and really enjoyed it too!
  • Memories and Murder by Lynn Cahoon – I had  been needing to get to this one so I was happy to buddy up with Kara from our COYER group and had a lot of fun talking to her about this book! This is probably my number one favorite series as it was what got me into cozies and listening to them on audiobook.
  • A Trick of the Light – Remember my goals post for 2020, this is one of the series I want to catch up on so I am so glad to have been able to fit in #7 this month. I really enjoyed it!
  • We Are Monsters – I really wanted to like this one but it bored me to tears…ugh. So not a book for me and I gave it a good shot and read over 200 pages and it’s only 326 pages but it was putting me in a slump as reading wasn’t fun so I said nope I am done.

Currently reading

  • The Magnificent Monsters of Cedar Street – Technically not reading it yet though I have read about 35% but going to buddy this with someone from COYER this week so I will be reading it sometime during the week.
  • Dressed Up 4 Murder – One of my favorite cozy series and I couldn’t wait any longer to dive into the newest book that is out next month. Trying to start on some of my Feb reads already in my goal to try and stay ahead of the game. 🙂
  • The Stand – So you probably won’t be seeing what Barb and I think of this one till the beginning of next month, the month got away from us both and we had other obligations that had to be read so still working on it. 🙂
  • Claw Enforcement – The latest installment in the Second Chance Cat mysteries another favorite series so I am glad I am staying up on this one! 🙂

What might be up next

Getting a jump on a couple books that have actual deadline dates I must read and review on.

How was your week? What did you get?

You know I totally share your dislike of the cold – maybe I’ll get you to move to Dallas, even though I’ll never get cold-loving Michelle here! We were chilly this week, but got up to 50 most days. So not horrible.

I’m so glad you liked the next book in the Sabrina Jeffries series! Yay! It’s an ARC right… Not out yet? I’m looking forward to reading it too.

Have a great week and stay warm!

    • Stormi

One of these days I would love to move farther south…lol

Yes that Jeffries is an eARC it comes out some time in February.

  2. Bea's Book Nook

I have The Last Sister also, part of a blog tour next month. I hope The Monsterland sequel is good; I wasn’t impressed with the first one. Stay warm and happy reading!

    • Stormi

I think I am probably part of the same tour for The Last Sister! 🙂 I thought Monsterland was fun so I hope the second one is too but when it comes to books like this the sequel could totally bomb but I hope not since it’s a tour book too…lol.

It got here here too and I’m over it haha! I’m all about the blankets now when I’m sitting around reading or whatever. 🙂

I’m sorta between shows other than ridiculous Riverdale lol.

A Trick of the Light looks like it could be interesting.

    • Stormi

I am so ready for cold to be over! I really need to start Riverdale season 3 but I keep putting it off…lol.

If you like a good police procedural type crime book then the Louise Penny Books are very good and you should try them. It takes a couple of books to really get into it and to start getting invested in everything going on.

  4. Katherine @ I Wish I Lived in a Library

Thanks for the heads up on the cozy that I got up this week. I’ll go into with adjusted expectations. Hopefully the first book was a fluke. I’m sorry to hear about your cold temperatures. I hate cold so much! I’m reading Claw Enforcement too and really enjoying it. Such a fun series! Have a great week!

    • Stormi

You might enjoy that cozy series more than me. I can’t even remember what it was I didn’t like, if I remember right the cat had its own chapters which was different but I don’t know it just didn’t capture my attention and I put it down and never went back to it…lol.

OMG, Claw Enforcement had like the saddest killer reveal ever!!
