The Week In Review #283

January 19, 2020 Memes 20

The Week in Review is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and It’s Monday! What are you reading? Β If you have never joined in on these meme’s you can check them out by clicking on the meme and it will take you to the host blog.

Not a whole lot going on here to talk about and I am good with that! Still some crazy weather going on and by the looks of next weeks forcast it’s going to be really cold and then I might need a boat by the end of the week with three days of rain coming! I have never been so tired of rain, I bet last year was the wettest year we have had in a while and it looks like it’s continuing into this year…blah.

So let’s see what have I watched. Watched Captain Marvel which was okay, then Aladdin which was better than I thought it would be. I watched a strange show on Acorn TV called Going Postal which was adapted from a Terry Pratchett series in the Discworld (never read any of that series), but the show had a favorite actor in it so watched it and it wasn’t bad. Still watching Deputy and Lincoln Rhymes and all I can say is good thing there are apps because I am so use to streaming that I forget about regularly scheduled programing…lol. Watched the new Martha’s Vineyard mystery show on Hallmark M&M. Have I saidΒ  how HAPPY I am that my mysteries are back on the Hallmark Movie and Mystery channel even if they have to put a stupid Christmas movie on on Thursdays! (Like we didn’t have enough of them already!)

Have a great week and happy reading!

What you might have missed on my blog

Books I have added

Trying to be so good but it’s only semi working but one is not bad! πŸ™‚

Netgalley

  • The Secret of White Stone Gate – Not even sure I should have grabbed this one but I was kind of curious. See I wasn’t a super fan of the first book but I guess I am having high hopes for the second one. πŸ™‚

Books read last week

  • Cold Nose, Warm Heart – I thought this was a pretty decent contemporary romance. I loved that it featured dogs in it and that they were a prominent part of the story.
  • Project Duchess – I think I have been really missing Historical Romances as I really enjoy this one! Sabrina Jeffries is one of my favorite authors and still is! Buddy read this one with Berls, but I kind of got ahead of her as I couldn’t wait to finish…lol.
  • Clowns vs. Spiders – This was kind of meh and I really wanted it to be cool…lol. Not scare, not even gory and not even much action fighting spiders.
  • The Dog Who Knew Too Much – Book 6 in one of my favorite pet themed cozies and I am happy to be caught back up again!

Currently reading

Β

Yes, I am still reading all the books! πŸ™‚

  • The Cold Dish – So I am not hating it but it’s a bit dull and rambly at times. I like the characters especially Henry and Vic. It’s a lot different than the show and I am trying to keep that in mind. I am not a huge fan of the authors writing style it’s choppy and confusing at times.Β  Thankfully it’s gotten a bit more interesting and I am 65% in.
  • The Magnificent Monsters of Cedar Street – I am about 35% in and it’s okay but hopefully it will get a bit more interesting. The monsters are cool though!
  • We Are Monsters – Just getting started so no real opinion yet.
  • Gunslinger – A little confusing at least to me and kind of slow. Hope it gets better.
  • Memories and Murder – Just starting this today as a buddy read for a COYER readathon!

What might be up next

  1. Jessica @ a GREAT read

Wow. Christmas movies still?! I mean, wasn’t the 2+ months of Christmas movies enough for Hallmark? I know my mom gets aggravated with them because she likes to watch the old I Love Lucy reruns in the morning and they were always playing Christmas movies! Even after Christmas! I can’t remember when the show finally came back and their schedule went to normal. I mean they have to have played every Christmas movie that they have at least twice if not more because they have soooo many! And I never even watched one! Lol.

Nice new read! I’m trying to be better this year with book requesting and buying too. This week I was pretty good since all I got was one of my subscription boxes! And I think this week I only have 1 book preordered! Hopefully this will be the year I can make a dent in my TBR pile. Fingers crossed!

    Happy Reading!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

I know, they had Christmas all the way through like the first week or so of January and now they are still putting two Christmas shows a week on, one on the regular Hallmark and one on the Movie and Mystery channel, it’s aggravating! Oh well, I just won’t watch their channel when they are on…lol.

It’s so hard trying to behave when it comes to books! πŸ™‚

WEATHER IS STUPID AND I HATE IT! Lol We are finally getting winter weather, nothing above 50 in the next week. I am just hoping no rain, I hate when it’s really cold and raining.

You did a lot of watching, I am almost done with Criminal Minds, then I can move onto something else. I feel like I need to finish a series before starting a new one. πŸ™‚

Have a great week, Stormi! Happy Reading! xx

    • Stormi

The weather is really stupid! I think winter has finally hit and I don’t like it! πŸ™

  3. Katherine @ I Wish I Lived in a Library

It’s getting cold here too so I’m glad that we are fleeing south! I am not designed for cold weather! I’m excited about the mysteries on Hallmark too. I enjoy the Christmas movies but the mysteries are by far my favorite. You set the bar high with Sabrina Jeffries! She’s one of my favorite and one of the few I trust with just about any plot.

    • Stormi

I wish I could flee south, you are so lucky! Though some of those southern places are getting some cold weather too! Yeah, Sabrina Jeffries is one of my favorites too! She always seems to have really good books!

That Hallmark Mystery channel sounds kinda fun. I like just having mysteries play once in a while- they’re fun to watch. πŸ™‚ I started that Dracula thing and also The Expanse season 4 this week. And good luck with the weather! We got snow here and it’s kinda messy. πŸ™‚

Longmire haha! I’ve never read the books…

    • Stormi

The hallmark mysteries are really good if you are a fan of cozy mysteries! How are you liking Dracula? It’s different, right? I think you would like Deputy if you get the Fox channel or Foxnow! The Longmire book wasn’t bad, finished it last night. It was so different from the show though!

      • Greg

Dracula IS different! I just finished the first episode and didn’t see the twist coming re: who the nun was. I’m kinda liking it? Although it’s kinda gross too lol. I’m not squeamish usually haha but when he was shyapechanging f/ the wolf I was like ewww… πŸ™‚

  5. Carole's Random Life in Books

I am not a fan of the cold. It was in the teens today and miserable. I do not want any more rain. My backyard has a small lake and the rest is mud. Only 1 book from NetGalley is great. I hope you have a great week, Stormi!

    • Stormi

Me either, so can’t wait for summer! Tired of rain too! I am trying really hard not to get those NG books but they all look so pretty! πŸ™‚

  6. Yvonne

I hope your weather starts getting better. I haven’t watched Hallmark in awhile. I really should. I love their mysteries. Have a great week!

    • Stormi

Oh me too, I hate winter time! πŸ™‚ You should watch them they have some good new ones!
