The Week in Review is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and It’s Monday! What are you reading? ย If you have never joined in on these meme’s you can check them out by clicking on the meme and it will take you to the host blog.

I can’t believe that it’s 2020! The years really need to slow down! Hope everyone had fun ringing in the new year. I spent it in a tired fog as dad had his nose surgery on Dec. 31st and we had to get up real early and I had to sleep on the couch as he couldn’t have the dogs in his room. So needless to say my new years eve was spent sleeping…lol. Then the rest of the week was just as exhausting as I slept on the couch all the way till Friday. Dad finally let the dogs back in his room on Friday so I got to finally go back up to my room upstairs. He is doing good. Friday he had the stents taken out of his nose. His only problem is there is a lot of caked blood in one side and he isn’t allowed to blow his nose yet and it’s bothering him. He has saline spray to spray up in there to try and loosen it up and clean up his nose. We go back on the 10th to see the doctor and see if everything was a success and maybe he will be able to blow his poor nose!

That is pretty much all I have to report as I haven’t really had much time to do anything this week but walk around like a sleepy zombie…lol.

Have a great week and happy reading!

What you might have missed on my blog

Books I have added

I would say I am breaking my one of my goals for 2020 already but I don’t think favorite authors or series should count. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Netgalley

  • Dressed Up 4 Murder – My favorite cozy series so I had to grab up this one! Doesn’t streetman looks so cute in his hat and bowtie! ๐Ÿ™‚
  • Here Comes the Body – I just found out that this is a new series from one of my favorite authors but she is writing it under a different name. This is Ellen Byron from the Cajun Country mysteries using her grandmother’s name as a tribute to her which is sweet.

Publisher for tour

  • We Are Monsters – Finally got this one in the mail, was starting to worry since the tour is this month. I am really curious about this one as it’s a horror about an asylum.

Books read last week

  • Magic Triumphs -This was my last book read in 2019 and so good! I know I have said it a lot already but so glad that Barb and I read this series! ๐Ÿ™‚ I am also glad that a lot of you enjoyed are binge of this series!
  • The Peculiar Incident on Shady Street – First audiobook finished in 2020 and it was a cute middle grade haunted house story.
  • Marked for Murder – The Shelby Nichols series is one of my favorites and this was no different. I really enjoyed it. There was just only one problem with it that kept it from five stars. A Buddy read with Berls and we both liked it so yay!
  • Mindy Kim and the Yummy Seaweed Business – This was a short one and so I decided to kick it out so I wouldn’t have to worry about it. It was a cute story about a little girl in a new place trying to make new friends using her seaweed snacks by trading them for other snacks.

Currently reading

  • The Janes – I have made it to about 40% and it’s starting to get interesting.
  • Project Duchess – My buddy read with Berls is going good and I have made it to about 50% or so and it’s a good one!
  • A Ghostly Undertaking – I have always wanted to read this series so I was excited it was up for review with Tantor Audio! Only 3.8 hours left!
  • Sense and Sensibility – I am on a buddy reading role! Since the readathon for COYER is about remembering friends who past on last year (Tiffany and Grace) we were to pick a book from their goodreads list. I have read this before but this will be my first time listening to it and going to buddy up with Sophie! Starting this one today.

What might be up next

  • Cold Nose, Warm Heart – Trying to kick out some more January review books!
  • The Magnificent Monsters of Cedar Street – Starting on a February read! I am so trying to stay caught up this year!
  • A Trick of the Light – One of my series I want to finish this year! This is book #7!

  1. Oh goodness! I couldn’t imagine not being able t blow your nose when it’s filled with stuff like that. Hope the doctor appointment goes well and that he continues to heal on the mend!

Nice new reads! Those are new to me ones but I hope you will enjoy them all!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

    • Stormi

I am glad he is on the mend and seems to be back to normal. I hope We are Monsters is good as it does sound like one I would enjoy!

  2. Glad things are going good with your dad. I was going to ban me on buying book but changed my mine. I plan to only get books if they are on sale or if I have a gift card. ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a great week, Stormi! Happy Reading! xx

    • Stormi

Yeah, if I have the money for buying books I wouldn’t ban myself, but trying to do better about grabbing all the review books. I need to be more realistic that if I grab more than I read in a month then something isn’t getting read…lol.

  3. I know what you mean about sharing the couch with dogs. I fall asleep on the couch and my dog hogs it while I’m sleeping. I end up hanging off the side. LOL I just got We Are Monsters too. I wasn’t crazy about his other book, Will Haunt You, and I’ve got my fingers crossed for this one.

    • Stormi

Couch and dogs just don’t mix…lol. I have Will Haunt You but haven’t read it yet so that is not good…lol. I hope we both like We Are Monsters!

  4. I hope your dad is doing well after his surgery. A friend of mine had a similar surgery this past summer and is doing well. Both Dressed Up 4 Murder and Here Comes the Body look like fun. I love those covers. ๐Ÿ™‚ I hope you enjoy your reading, Stormi! Have a great week and Happy New Year!

  5. Oh your poor dad! That sounds incredibly uncomfortable. And poor you for the couch sleeping. It’s not easy when you get that off your routine with sleep. I feel in a fog for WEEKS after something like that happens. I couldn’t resist Dressed Up 4 Murder and I’m so glad you’re enjoying Project Duchess! I have it and really need to read it. Sabrina Jeffries is a favorite. Have a great week!

    • Stormi

Yeah, I am still kind of drowsy and catching up on my sleep from my couch time. Sabrina Jeffries is one of my favorites and I have the second in this series that comes out in Feb. so I was like I need to get to the first one! ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. Wow that does sound tiring! Best wishes to your dad as he recovers, and hope it goes smoothly here on out. New Year’s Eve was pretty laid back here too, and I loved it haha.

    The Janes looks pretty interesting!

    • Stormi

It was and I am slowly catching up on sleep…lol. I like a laid back NYE! ๐Ÿ™‚ The Janes is pretty good so far!

  7. I love Streetman. He does look rather dapper. I hope Cold Nose Warm Heart is good as I’ll be reading it next weekend as well. I’m glad your dad’s surgery went so well and than you are getting more sleep now!

  8. I am glad that your dad is doing well. I can only imagine how much his nose must be bothering him though. It is great that you were there to help care for him (and keep an eye on the dogs). Nice new reads this week. I hope you have a great week, Stormi!

  9. You’re definitely always allowed to add books from your favorite author or series to your collection. It’s only reasonable! Happy New Year!!
