The Week In Review #260

August 11, 2019 Memes 15

The Week in Review is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and It’s Monday! What are you reading? Β If you have never joined in on these meme’s you can check them out by clicking on the meme and it will take you to the host blog.

Well, this hasn’t been a great week. I either have a summer cold or an allergy induced cold or maybe the combo I don’t know. I do know that it has about kicked my buttΒ  this week. I am almost over it but still have a bit of a clogged nose but at least I can function…lol. So my reading was off cause I couldn’t concentrate. πŸ™

We have had lots of rain and now it’s back to being really hot again…blah. I really could live with weather in the 70’s but this 90’s with heat index in the 100’s just isn’t good…but it’s better than freezing.

So I got caught up to the new Veronica Mars and only watched a few episodes and to be honest I am not sure what to think of it. It’s a lot darker and instead of individual cases it’s 8 episodes that all involve finding a bomber. It has a lot of the the quirks of the old show but it’s really not the same. I am not in a hurry to finishes it if that tells you anything. I will say that Logan has gotten cuter! πŸ™‚

Have a great week and happy reading!

What you might have missed on my blog

Books I have added

Netgalley/EdelweissΒ

  • Murder at Kensington Palace – It’s the third book in the Wrexford and Sloane series and my third favorite historical mystery series behind Veronica Speedwell series and Kat Holloway series. I can’t wait to get to this one!
  • Christmas Cow Bells – I keep telling myself no new cozies but look at that cover! I couldn’t pass it up…lol.
  • Clique Bait – Not extremely original but I always like trying these types of YA mysteries.
  • The Deceivers – Just recently read (still need to review!) book one and so I was excited to see the second one up for grabs! It’s a good action adventure story for young readers.

Books read last week

  • Aru Shah and the Song of Death – Book two if the Padava Quartet and it was packed full of action and I liked it more than the first one! Now to wait for the next one! πŸ™
  • Molded 4 Murder – Book 4 in one of my favorite cozy mystery series and it was just as fun and what I needed to read when I wasn’t feeling good! Look at that cover! Streetman is so cute!

Currently reading

Β
  • The Book of Life – Just getting started on this one so you will probably see it on here for a few weeks! It’s over 500 pages and I just kind of read on it at night.
  • Something Read, Something Dead – Got to get those library books done so I started this one and I am only a few chapters in but it’s a series I enjoy so can’t wait to get it finished.
  • They Kill – When I was sick I wasn’t in a horror mood so 50% into this one and hopefully I can finish it this coming week.
  • Ghost Story – I was so excited to get this till I found out it has a different narrator. πŸ™ I don’t know if there is two different versions but this one was the one overdrive had but audibles says James Marster is the narrator but not in the one I have. πŸ™ I am almost to the point of just reading the book. Not that the narrator is horrid but he is not Harry Dresden! James Marster is! πŸ™ About two hours into it.
  • The Cruelest Month – At least this one still has the same narrator…lol. It’s only book three though so you never know! I am almost two hours into it and so far it’s good.

This is what happens when you don’t feel good and you just start everything…lol.

What might be up next

  1. Jessica @ a GREAT read

Ugh bummer about the cold! I hate getting sick, but even moreso in summer. It feels like an added betrayal to all the heat and grossness that you have to get sick, which generally happens in winter. I’m with you in wanting more 70 degree days instead of this 90+ and heat index in the 100+ but I definitely would rather take the colder weather instead! Lol.

I’m still in my slow rewatch of Veronica Mars myself. Still at the beginning of season 2, but I did have my aunt come into town so I’ve been hanging out with my family this weekend and that took up my evening binging! I still haven’t watched one of my DVR shows either! So behind! Lol. I talked to my aunt about borrowing her Hulu subscription as well, and she’s about to get rid of it, so I figure I’ll just buy Hulu for a month and binge the 8 episodes when the time is right.

Nice new reads too! Those are all new to me ones but I hope you will enjoy them all!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

Allergies have been kicking my ass all summer. My nose is forever clogged, I don’t know what it is.
We have had some wicked storms lately, they just pop up out of no where. The weather today reminds me of fall (at least this morning) I am sure it will go back to ugh hot later.

I hope this week is awesome for you Stormi! Happy Reading! Miss you! oxox

Sorry to hear your allergies are real bad too! I don’t want a wicked storm but it could please pour us a little rain to cool it down! πŸ™‚

I don’t think the new 90210 will be as good without my favorite person, Luke Perry!:(

I hate it when narrators change partway through a series. And that’s such a good series, too. I have to check out Molded 4 Murder since that dachshund is so cute! I love the cover of Christmas Cow Bells. Now I’m off to look for some of these books!

Hope you feel better and have a good week, Stormi!

Aw, sorry to hear about Veronica Mars. I’ve been curious about that show but if I watch I’ll start with the original if I can. That way I’ll know what’s going on lol.

Clique Bait has me a bit curious!

Hope you feel better- I hate being sick in the summertime, it always seems worse w/ the heat.

    • Stormi

Yeah, I would start with the original Mars if you can that way you can see how much better that is than the new stuff…lol. πŸ™‚

I am so sorry to hear you have been under the weather. I hope it passes soon and you are feeling 100% better soon. My husband has seen the new season of Veronica Mars, but I haven’t yet. I’ve heard it’s been getting mixed reviews.

Murder at Kensington Palace sounds like something I would like. I hope you enjoy all your new books! I hope you enjoy The Book of Life. I really enjoy that series. Something Read, Something Dead sounds like a lot of fun!

I hope you continue to enjoy your reading, and have a great week!

    • Stormi

Thanks, I am feeling a lot better. If you think Murder at Kensington Palace sounds cool check out book one called Murder On Black Swan Lane. πŸ™‚

  6. Tina @ As Told By Tina

I have never seen Veronica Mars but I have seen on Twitter that people have been a bit disappointed with the new episodes. I would like to watch the original eventually but I have so many shows I’d love to see that I don’t think I’ll ever have time for.

I’m glad you liked the second book in Aru Shah! I have read the first book and plan on re-reading so that I could get to the second book. I love the cover of Clique. I do hope you enjoy your new reads!

    Have a wonderful week.

I know there are so many shows I want to watch too! I hope you enjoy your reread and then the second book as well! πŸ™‚
