The Week In Review #258

July 28, 2019 Memes 11

The Week in Review is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and It’s Monday! What are you reading? Β If you have never joined in on these meme’s you can check them out by clicking on the meme and it will take you to the host blog.

Not a lot happened this week. I did participate in the Reading Rush and almost got all my books finished. It doesn’t officially end till Midnight tonight but I don’t think I will get the three books I have left done but that’s okay I read 4 out of 7 and met most of the challenges. πŸ™‚

I got a little side tracked with watching Veronica Mars! I want to watch the new season but when I seen the three older seasons were on Hulu too I decided to start from the beginning as it’s been a while since I watch the show. I am almost done with the first season. Also watched Mary Poppins again for the umpteenth time as one of the challenges was to read and then watch a book adaption. I love the movie but never read the book so decided to do it. Good excuse to watch the movie and sing along! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Have a great week and happy reading!

What you might have missed on my blog

Books I have added

  • Hood Academy – It is all Barbs fault as I seen this on her blog. πŸ™‚ I featured it on my WoW this week as well.
  • Puppy Christmas – I thought I wasn’t going to get this oneΒ  but I got lucky! I loved Puppy Love and this is book two in the Forever Home series. It’s about the older sister who is a bit more serious than the others so I am curious about her love story. Also that dog looks almost like my dog Dresden! πŸ™‚

  • The Okay Witch – It’s a middle grade graphic novel and looks super cute! About a young girl who likes all things witchy and then I believe she finds out she is a witch.

Books read last week

  • Amelia Fang and the Barbaric Ball – Cute but slightly silly kids book about a young vampire and her friends. When the spoiled prince stills her pet pumpkin Squashy she does what she can to get it back with their help.
  • Amelia Fang and the Unicorns of Glitteropolis – Continues on with some information that happened at the end of book one. Amelia and her friends have to travel into the land of the Creatures of the Light to find someone. As like the first one it was cute and slightly silly which makes it perfect for kids.
  • Chained by the Fierce HighlanderΒ – I wanted to like this one it’s a self published authors first book and it was given to me through bookfunnel but it’s horrible. Either it’s because I haven’t read a historical romance in a while or they got more cheesy than I remember…lol. It’s a hate to love type but it’s short so really no character development making the change from hate to love seem unreal and silly.Β  Then if she said Magnus, my love one more time I thought I might throw my kindle…lol.
  • Mary PoppinsΒ – Way different than the movie that is for sure but still a good story. There was some talking animals though I was most disappointed when she took only Bert into a chalk painting and there was no talking Penguins!!! πŸ™‚

Currently reading

  • A Scandal in Scarlet – This will get me caught up on the series till January when I new one comes out. πŸ™‚ I am enjoying it. Gemma Doyle is kind of a sherlock holmes type in her deductions and runs a Holmes bookstore with all things Sherlock as well as other Gaslight mysteries. I am about 35 % into it.
  • The Night is Forever – This is book 11 in the Krewe of Hunters series. I was on a role with this series a few years ago and kind of fell off it so I am jumping back on! It’s getting way ahead of me as I think there are like 27 or so now! I know you can read them out of order but I just can’t do it! The audios with Luke Daniel are the best! πŸ™‚ I am about 3 hours from finishing it!
  • Murder’s No Votive Confidence – I had put it on hold for all the book above because of a readathon so need to get back to it. πŸ™‚

What might be up next

In a horror mood. πŸ™‚

How was your week? What did you get?

  1. Jessica @ a GREAT read

I decided I needed to rewatch Veronica Mars before diving into the new season too! Though I’m really bad at binging! I pretty much wait until the weekends to do it! I’m almost 3/4 done with season 1 too! I got so caught up in watching it yesterday that I almost forgot to do my StS post! Lol!

Hood Academy looks interesting! I will have to keep an eye on that one! I hope you enjoy it and all your other new reads!

    Here’s my StS

4 out of 7 books is great, Stormi. I’m struggling to find time to read. I keep falling asleep, and not because the stories aren’t good. Just tired. I’m going to binge some of Veronica Mars today! LOL

I need to watch Veronica Mars at some point. It seems like a show I’d like.

A Scandal in Scarlet looks fun. And how did I never know Mary Poppins was a book???

  6. Jessica at Booked J

I ended up rewatching Veronica Mars at the start of the year but after watching the new season I’m like, okay, I NEED TO REWATCH THE OG RUN AGAIN. Because honestly. Well. I WON’T SAY IT SINCE YOU HAVEN’T WATCHED THE REVIVAL YET. But! BUUUT!! Ah. I hope you enjoy it.

Aw, those Amelie Fang books sound super cute/fun.

  7. Nicci @ Sunny Buzzy Books

I’ve yet to watch the new Mary Poppins and I was never a fan of the old one… My husband loves the old one though so I’ve no doubt at some point we’ll watch the new one too!
Veronica Mars is another show I haven’t seen but I hear good things! Glad you’re enjoying it.

  8. Melanie Simmons

I’ve never watched Veronica Mars. I’ve been busy at work and at home. I’m hoping things slow down soon. I’ve got five reviews to write.

  9. Barb (boxermommyreads)

That cover for Puppy Love is awesome and that’s it – blame me for the other one πŸ™‚ That’s okay, you’ve enabled me enough in the past right? I’m curious what you think about They Kill so I vote for that one!
