The Week In Review #253

June 23, 2019 Memes 22

The Week in Review is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and It’s Monday! What are you reading?  If you have never joined in on these meme’s you can check them out by clicking on the meme and it will take you to the host blog.

So at the beginning of the week it rained so much some of our roads was flooded but thank goodness we didn’t get a lot more of the rain they called for and we had our hottest day so far on Friday as it was in the 90’s. It’s suppose to rain some more though but just hope they are severe!

I planted a couple tomato plants and pepper plants sort of late into the season in some tubs and I have one bell pepper on a small plant and some flowers on my large tomato plant but no tomatoes yet, seems backwards…lol. I guess when everyone else runs out of goodies in their garden I will still be getting some of mine…lol.

Well, that’s about it happy reading! 🙂

What I am watching

Didn’t really watch much this week besides just the normal background noise shows. I did watch Creed on a new channel I found on sling called Paramount TV it has some cool movies. The movie was okay it was just like Rocky but with Apollo’s son. I was glad to see Rocky made him chase chickens like Mickey did!! 🙂 Tonight I will be watching Good Witch (Hallmark) and Murder 101: Playing Dead! (Hallmark Movie and Mystery) 🙂

What you might have missed on my blog

Books I have added

Netgalley

  • Can’t Judge a Book by it’s Murder – As if I needed another new cozy series but I can’t help it when it comes to book themed ones! 🙂

Books read last week

  • The Halloweeners – A Cute and slightly spooky book about a Fisher who has to save his friends from turning into true monsters after they ate some candy they shouldn’t have.
  • The Girl in Red – You can check out my review of this one but it was disappoint. I am in the minority though…lol. 😉
  • The Never Game – This is the first in the Colter Shaw series and I really enjoyed it. About a ‘reward seeker’ who is an expert tracker and looks for missing people for the rewards their families put up. He is also willing to work with police and ends up wrapped up in the tech world of a video game.
  • Witch Slapped – Book 3 in the Beechwood Harber mysteries and it was cute. Holly is always getting herself in trouble!
  • Turn Coat – Love me some Harry Dresden on audio!! I am getting so close to catching up on this series. If I get the books fast enough from overdrive I might finish it by the end of the year! Patiently (or not) waiting for the next one on overdrive!

Currently reading

  • Diggin Up Dirt – Been wanting to get to the newest Kenni Lowry book so here I am. Just as fun as always!
  • The Right Sort of Man – It’s not really interesting me right now so it’s kind of been on hold but I will try it again soon.
  • Shadow of Night – It’s my July buddy read but them babies are big so I have to get a bit of a head start lol. Only about 140 pages in out of 580+!
  • Kingdom of Exiles – Just started this one on a whim so not really sure yet.
  • Turn Coat – Love me some Harry Dresden on audio!! I am getting so close to catching up on this series. If I get the books fast enough from overdrive I might finish it by the end of the year! Have about 6 hours of this one to go.
  • Gunmetal Magic – About 4 chapters or so into Barb and I’s buddy read. I am curious to see how this one goes

I know, I know! Can’t help myself…lol.

What might be up next

  • Gone with the Wool – Book for in the  Yarn Retreat series. Trying to catch up on some cozy series!
  • A Gentlewoman’s Guide to Murder – I have enjoyed this author before so curious about her new series.

I read gunmetal magic in May and really enjoyed it. Love Andrea, so it was fun spending some time with her POV.

That’s funny about your plants – I hope those tomatoes come in for you, even if it is backwards! Someday I’ll try gardening (when I get to have a yard).

    Have a great week!

  2. Michelle @Because Reading

It finally stopped raining! I am so happy lol. I rained ALL week! So far it seems to be the pattern, rains all week and then gorgeous on the weekends. I hope it stays like that since if we go to the shore at least it will be nice.

I wasn’t able to plant my garden this year. I was totally bummed. I really wanted to do Tomatoes this year.

Have a great week, Stormi! Happy Reading! xx

I am so tired of rain!!!! We only put a few plants in some big tubs or I wouldn’t have had anything. Two tomato plants, one poblano and one bell pepper plant.

    • Stormi

Yeah it has been pretty humid here…blah. No, they are not hard to grow but they do take a bit to get them going.

I love Paramount TV! At least, what I’ve watched on it so far. Also, I keep trying to get into Deborah Harkness’s books but every-time I start to something else happens! I think I’m cursed when it comes to her!

Here’s to hoping this week is great and you get some good reading in!

    • Stormi

I was glad to find we had Paramount TV, my dad is enjoying Yellowstone.

Oh no, that is a bummer hope you can get into Harkness some time. After about the first 100 pages I feel it picks up a bit.

      Have a great week!

    • Stormi

If Shadow of Night stands out you need to get A Discovery of Witches which is the first book and sooo good! 🙂

  4. Greg

I love tomatoes out of the garden- those are the best. And sorry to hear about the rain/ flooding- yikes! It’s been raining a ton here too throughout June. In fact it’s raining now lol (although just a little).

Murder 101 sounds fun! And I think I’m reading The Girl ion Red after my current read- although I did see your review and I’m gonna try to keep my expectations in check. 🙂

    • Stormi

Me too, it is pretty much the only time I eat tomatoes! It flooded big time today! I mean we had to turn back from trying to go to church as the roads were getting bad and the rain was so hard we couldn’t see, I was afraid we would get blocked out from coming home. So tired of rain.

The Hallmark mysteries are good. 🙂 I am excited for Murder 101! Hope you enjoy Girl in Red!

    • Stormi

Love me some tomatoes! Thanks, glad you like the new design! Everyone I know likes Girl in Red so I am starting to think it just wasn’t one for me…lol.

  5. Barb (boxermommyreads)

I’ve been really curious about A Gentleman’s Guide to Murder and can’t wait for your review. Looks like your reading has definitely picked up. I am also waiting for all those Netgalley requests you made to start appearing.

  6. Katherine @ I Wish I Lived in a Library

I really enjoyed A Right Sort of Man though it did feel like there were times it seriously dragged on. I’m hoping first book syndrome. Glad to hear it stopped raining long enough to keep from washing away and I’m jealous of your tomato flowers. I planted some tomatoes but they’re not really doing much of anything. I’m despairing. Have a great week!

  7. Lola

I listened to the first Beechwood Harbor book and enjoyed it, but still need to continue the series. Too bad The Girl in Red was a disappointment, it’s always sad when you don’t enjoy the book as much as you would’ve liked. Gone With the Wool sounds fun. Good luck with the gardening, that sounds nice to have veggies form your own garden :).
