The Week In Review #247

May 12, 2019 Memes 12

BMR,OHMy (1)The Week in Review is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and It’s Monday! What are you reading?  If you have never joined in on these meme’s you can check them out by clicking on the meme and it will take you to the host blog.

It’s like we have went in reverse with the weather! I know it’s weird everywhere but it is so annoying. One day it’s 80’s then now I feel like we are sliding back into winter with temps in the 50’s lows in the 40’s! Not to mention all these freaking storms!!!!! If I have stress it’s because of storms, worrying if they come with tornadoes or not!  We finally have a few days reprieve from storms but there are more coming some time next week. I have seen a lot of places getting them and it just I can never remember a May being like this where the whole month is just pretty much rain/storms. It’s just so crazy! We have been luckier than some places so shouldn’t complain, but I am…lol.

What have I been watching

So I watched Ms Fisher’s Modern Mysteries which is a spin off of my favorite series called Miss Fisher’s Mysteries. It’s not modern as in present day but more modern than the 1920’s since it’s set in the 1960’s. 🙂 It’s an Australian series that is on Acorn TV. It only had four episodes though they are an hour and 40 minutes so it didn’t take long to watch, I want more. 🙂 Then I decided to start back on Murdoch Mysteries since I had only made it through season 5, I am now on season 7 and almost done with it. It’s a Canadian historical mystery series which features a lot of famous figures in it, a lot of times they are accused of murder…lol. (Churchill, Tesla, Edison, etc.)

What you might have missed on my blog

Books I have added

Netgalley

  • Left Fur Dead – So I really didn’t need another cozy mystery series to start but look at that cute rabbit!!! I couldn’t help it as most always feature dogs or cats and this one has rescue rabbits! 🙂
  • The Girl in Red – I have had my eye on this since I seen it come out and have had it requested for some time and figured I wasn’t going to get it but I DID! I am so excited to try the authors take on Red Riding Hood.

Books read last week

  • The Mystery of Black Hollow Lane – This one was just okay. I had higher hopes for it but it didn’t really pick up till about 65% into it and then it went rather fast. I am not sure if I am on board for the next one when it comes out or not, they need to wow me with the blurb and I am sort of curious but on the fence.
  • Wound up in Murder – On a roll with trying to catch up on some of my cozy series. This is book three of six that are currently out so yes very behind…lol. It was enjoyable.

Currently reading

  • Antarctic Ice Beast – The first book for the Shea in May buddy that Barb and I are doing. Need to get cracking on it so bumped it up over the other books currently being read. 37% in and it’s okay though a little slow.
  • 50 Harbor Street – Book 5 in the Cedar Cove series and I am enjoying it and about 32% in.
  • The Devouring Gray – Sounded good but kind of boring so it’s been hard to keep going even though I am sort of curious so I have been reading about a chapter or so then going to a different book. Not been picking good ones to read lately…lol. 62% into it. Some cool things have happened but not enough.
  • Devious Lot – Been a while since I have listened to this series so it’s taking me a bit to get into it and the characters but I always remember liking it so I know I will.

What might be up next

If you liked Miss Fischer you might enjoy the spin off. Not heard of the book you added I will have to check it out.

  1. Jessica @ a GREAT read

Yeah the weather this month has been wacky! We had to turn our heat back on yesterday and I had my ceiling fan running on high just days before! It’s weird!

Nice new reads! I can’t wait for The Girl in Red! I love fairy tale retellings and Christina’s Alice books were awesome! Happy Reading!

It’s cold and wet in Australia too, but then it’s only a few weeks til the official start of Winter.

I love Ms Fisher and the spin off, I hope they do another season.

    Have a great reading week.

It’s been so cool and rainy here too- a weird spring so far. Hope you get a warm up! I watched the first episode of Miss Fisher’s and liked it, a while back… the new one set in the 60’s sounds fun.

I’ve been kinda waiting on the Devouring gray and I’ve heard similar things, so I might wait on that one… I keep changing my kind lol.

  4. Tina @ As Told By Tina

The weather has been like that too! We had a couple rain storms and now its back to 80 to 90 degrees. Pumpkin War looks so cute.

I hope you have had a wonderful week.
