BMR,OHMy (1)The Week in Review is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and It’s Monday! What are you reading? ย If you have never joined in on these meme’s you can check them out by clicking on the meme and it will take you to the host blog.

Boy is this weather crazy! Feel bad for y’all who are getting snow but let me tell you I appreciate it if you would keep it…lol. We could get some snow but I think it’s going to go mostly around my area.

This year has just started off kind of weird especially with my reading. I knew there was a reason I decided this year my reading count would be lower! I just can’t seem to get into it and have only read like 4 books. I have a lot of different ones going though! I have been distracted with trying to get healthier and watching a lot of youtube videos about the keto diet (actual doctors as well as normal people who have lost a lot of weight). Reading lots of post on it and I got a book from the library (so guess I am reading…lol) My dad’s A1C was 8.1 and the doctor told him he would have to get on another pill if he doesn’t get it down. We have three months. He is diabetic and should be on a low carb diet anyway and we can’t afford for him to have to get another expensive pill that just puts more poison in his body. So we are trying a lifestyle chance which has me chancing too I guess with what I am reading and making a priority.

Once I we get a new routine down and I think we get going with this I honestly think it might help me focus more. I have been really depressed lately and just a lot of brain fog not to mention my bad knees. Sometimes I just cry my body hurts so much and I don’t like being overweight and can’t afford any kind of surgeries (no insurance) so leafy greens it is! ๐Ÿ™‚ย  I am actually kind of excited to try it as I have done it before and lost 30 pounds but didn’t stick to it. It’s time to stick to it.

We have to ease into it so not going full blown yet as I told dad it might be easier to stock up on some things first. I have to do a freezer clean out to make room for new yummy stuff. (Lots of stuff been in there forever…lol)

Soย  reviews are slim so thank goodness for Kathi’s reviews or it might be pretty slow around here but I am sure I will get back into the groove soon but for now if you don’t see much from me on here that is why.

Rambled enough on here so signing off! Happy reading!

What you might have missed on my blog

Books I have added

Probably shouldn’t have gotten these but I had asked for them before I realized my reading was going to pot!

  • The Hummingbird Dagger – I am a sucker for a historical mystery!!
  • Will Haunt You – This sounds like a cool horror book and it’s about a spooky book! ๐Ÿ™‚

Books read last week

  • Hunting Prince Dracula – Finally I finished something! Just in time too as I had like less than an hour left on my overdrive time…lol. I liked this one just about as much as the first one. I am curious about the next one.

Currently reading

ย ย ย ย
  • Slayer – Not feeling this book so haven’t read any on it this week.
  • Dead as a Door Knocker – 31% in but didn’t really read on it this week.
  • Pairing a Deception – One of the books I did work on this week and I am 58% in and enjoying it.
  • Strangers on a Train – Didn’t listen to any more of this one this week so only a few hours in.
  • Black in White – Listened to this one a bit while on the computer so I have 3.5 hours to go. It’s different. ๐Ÿ™‚

Yeah, I am doing lots of research this go around and I am actually kind of excited to give this a try, so maybe that means I am ready to do it. Lifestyle changes don’t come easy and so you have to be in the right mindset and I am sick and tired of being sick and tired and being 43 but feeling 80. :\

  1. Jessica @ a GREAT read

Good luck with the new lifestyle. The keto diet seems intimidating to me. I wish you the best of luck with it for you and your dad.

Nice new reads though! The Hummingbird Dagger looks intriguing. I’m keeping an eye on that one myself. I hope you enjoy your new reads!

    Here’s my STS

    Have a GREAT day!

Thanks, I think people think it seems intimidating because it says you can eat fat and we just think that doesn’t sound right but I have been finding some really yummy looking recipes and can’t wait to try it. ๐Ÿ™‚

I do hope Hummingbird Dagger is as cool as it sounds too!

  2. Priscilla Bettis

Best of luck to you and your dad on your new low carb lifestyle. Hang in there during that “keto flu” transition.

I read a scary, real-life story about Brian Kirk’s book. (Rats, can’t remember where.) Chills! Will Haunt You is definitely on my wish list!

    • Stormi

Thanks, I have read up on “keto flu” and will make sure I get enough electrolytes so I don’t get it hopefully! ๐Ÿ™‚

I think Sci-fi and Scary had something about Brian Kirk’s book on their site as I think that is where I first heard of it and knew I had to have it! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Stormi

Thanks, I am pretty excited about a lifestyle change so maybe that means it’s time! ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Nicci @ Sunny Buzzy Books

Magic Bites is my least favourite book in my absolute favourite series… lol. I don’t know why but it’s true. If you have mixed thoughts about continuing after reading it, I advise reading at least until book 3 as they get better and better and yeah. Awesome. ๐Ÿ™‚

Good luck with Keto. It’s not something I could stick to but Melissa at LilyElement has lost a lot by following it and her instagram is full of yummy looking (Keto) food!

    • Stormi

I am liking it so for but like a lot of UF books the first one isn’t as good as the ones to follow so I can’t wait to plow through them!

I am pretty determined as I need to lose a whole large person and I want to feel 43 and not 80 and I have been finding some cool recipes.

  4. Michelle @Because Reading

Make sure to keep calling it a lifestyle change and not a diet. A diet is short term, a life style change lasts a lifetime. I am excited for you. You should considered doing the fitbit post that Felicia does. That might help keep you motivated and almost like keeping a journal which I heard also helps. I have been wanting to get a few healthy cook books but I have so many people in my house that eat all different stuff, It’s really hard but I am trying. I heard the Keto food is really good.

I hope you have a great week, Stormi! If you are feeling depressed at all, I am always hear if you need me. Happy Reading! xx

Well, we didn’t get much snow either but man, the cold wind has arrived. I think winter is such a key time for depression so make sure you are taking care of yourself – that’s what matters. As for Magic Bites, I’m finding it a very fast read and since you are listening to it, I bet you’ll finish it in no time. I saw Bookables mention how excited she was for Slayer but she is a HUGE Buffy fan and based on what you’ve told me, I’m anxious to hear her review when she is done.

  6. Anne - Books of My Heart

Yes, we went gluten-free last May and that has helped my daughter with the brain fog, but we both need to be more active. I think everything in moderation. But I hurt my back and it’s really cold for a couple days, so it’s going to need to wait until Tuesday or Wednesday (the exercise part). It’s going to be 15 at night which our heat doesn’t usually keep up. So the next couple mornings we will want to stay in bed.

Good luck! I hope you figure out what works best for you. We threw lots out of the cupboard and freezer when we went GF.

Good luck with the diet changes! I went vegetarian recently and it’s going pretty well- I’m just trying to find healthier stuff and my diet used to be pretty bad lol so I figure it can only get better from here! Hope you guys have lots of success!

Hope Slayer gets better, and Death in the Stacks looks fun!
