The Week In Review #230

January 13, 2019 Misc. 20

BMR,OHMy (1)The Week in Review is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and It’s Monday! What are you reading?  If you have never joined in on these meme’s you can check them out by clicking on the meme and it will take you to the host blog.

So if it rains any more I am going to need a rowboat to get out of my lane! Though I will take it over the snow that the upper midwest is getting!

I think my slump is on it’s way to being over as I read a good bit this last week. Still can’t make up my mind on what to read so have a few going but I don’t feel bad about it so that’s better. 🙂

That’s about it for now. Happy reading!

What you might have missed on my blog

Books I have added

Netgalley

  • Pinot Red or Dead – I love this author’s other series and I have the first couple and really need to get on this series. So this one will be a series I catch up on this year. 🙂

Books read last week

  • Death in the Stacks – I am feeling a little back on track with reading! This one was really good and can’t wait to get the next one even though that catching me up on the series. 😐 🙂
  • Assaulted Pretzel – Another good one! This was book two in the Amish Mysteries and I can’t wait to read the next one soon.
  • Stranger Beside Me – A booktuber Peter Likes Books has a book club on Goodreads and they are doing a year of true crime and this was the first book and I thought why not. Might not read all of them but sometimes I do get curious. 🙂

Currently reading

Still haven’t totally got my grove back and can’t make up my mind what book to read. 🙂

  • Slayer – About 72 pages in and it’s okay but nothing great has happened yet but it’s 400 pages so it has time to pick up and I hope it does. I do know that if you’re a huge fan of Buffy you might get mad at home much the MC hates her and mentions it a lot.
  • Dead as a Door Knocker – This one is kind of slow-moving and I don’t know if it’s just me or the book, just not feeling it.  About 29% into this one.
  • Pairing a Deception – This one fits my challenge of pick a theme as my theme for this month for cozies is food/drink. Just started this one so 13% in and enjoying it so far.

What might be up next

My two buddy reads with Barb, need to get rolling on them. 🙂

How was your week? What did you get?

I didn’t get a new book, but I started one that’s been sitting too long in my TBR: Atonement, Tennessee by Teagan Geneviene. It’s quite engaging, a little spooky, a lot of fun.

I am doing good with only getting one new book…lol. The book your reading sounds good!

I listened to A Stranger Beside Me too. Did you have the version read by Lorelei King or Ann Rule? I do like the true crime stories. I’ve also read one on John Wayne Gacy and Charles Manson. I find serial killers interesting, but scary as hell. I can’t wait to see what else you read. I just haven’t gotten into BookTubes. I prefer reading blogs to watching videos.

I am glad I am not the only one who find them interesting. I was always called weird in High School because I use to read a lot of true crime.

I like watching people on booktube cause if I want I can speed them up by going forward…I will admit to scanning blogs as well…lol.

  3. Jessica @ a GREAT read

We got a ton of the white stuff this weekend myself, I envy your rain! Stayed home all day yesterday and it drove me crazy. Cabin fever totally set in and I found I couldn’t get comfortable to read. So it was an unproductive day sadly.

That’s a new to me read, but I hope you will enjoy it!

    Here’s my STS

    Have a GREAT day!

Yeah, I saw that on the news, I will admit I am glad it stayed up your way lol. I am a homebody lol so staying in doesn’t bother me. 🙂

We didn’t get the snow like we had thought. I think the southern part of Jersey is getting it more than us up North.

I hope Slayer picks up, I would love to read it but I am not sure about the MC hating on Buffy, that doesn’t sound like something I would like. Buffy is the original Slayer you can’t hate on her.

I hope you have an awesome week, Stormi! Happy Reading! xx

That is why I mentioned it cause I was thinking man some huge Buffy fans might not like the way she is portrayed in this book because she basically ruined the world or as the MC says Buffy broke the world and killed magic.

Yeah, it’s hard to resist those ARCs! I am trying really hard myself. I told myself that this year I would get less new books and try and catch up on backlist books. We shall see how that goes. 🙂

I’m cautiously optimistic that maybe I’ve found something I want to read lol. Hope your slump passes too. 🙂

Slayer looks fun- hope it picks up. And the Raybourn book too.
