The Week In Review #229

January 6, 2019 Memes 16

BMR,OHMy (1)The Week in Review is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and It’s Monday! What are you reading? Β If you have never joined in on these meme’s you can check them out by clicking on the meme and it will take you to the host blog.

Okay so my January isn’t getting off to a great start when it comes to reading as you will see below. I think I am slumping and so I raced the the library for the next book in a favorite series to try and get myself going again!

Also, on January 2nd my blog went down and it was down all day while they worked on it. Then all my post from the last part of December where gone! So they worked on it some more and thankfully by the next day all was well and my post were back but the beginning of January is not off to a great start. πŸ™

The weather has been cold and rainy but now it’s like 60 degrees! Not that I am complaining but this up and down weather kind of gives me the blues which could contribute to my reading blahs.

Other than that I have nothing to report.

Happy reading!

What you might have missed on my blog

Books I have added

Library grabs

Β Β

See what happens when I slump I go to the library and come back with more than I intended! πŸ™‚

  • Death in the Stacks – Since I was slumping I went and got book 8 in the Library Lovers series! YAY!
  • Assaulted Pretzel – I really enjoyed book one and it was sitting write there where I was sitting while waiting to be picked up as dad went and had tires fixed. πŸ™‚
  • A Willing Murder – I browsed the new releases and this one just said take me home! I have enjoyed this authors romances so I am curious about her mysteries.

Books read last week

  • A Curse So Dark and Lonely – I finished this one Sunday night and then my week bottomed out! πŸ™ Upside this is a good book!

See I told you the year was off to a great start! πŸ™

  • An Anonymous Girl – I didn’t like the writing style and I tried really hard and got about 80 pages or so but it was so slow and boring. It had first person and second person POV’s and that was just weird and confusing and just didn’t make sense to me. I am not a fan of second person POV anyway so just had to quit.
  • The Devious Dr. Jekyll – I guess I am not in a steampunk mood as I thought the first one was okay but that was a couple years ago and my reading taste has changed a lot and this one just irked me. I might have liked Eliza/Lizzie before but I don’t now. So I am already failing my Calendar of Crime challenge since this was the one I picked for it because I used the prompt (word in title starts with the letter J). I didn’t have a backup and well I just don’t care. πŸ™ πŸ™‚

Currently reading

Β Β
  • Death in the Stacks – My lifesaver books! It’s just as good as the others in the series so I think it could bring me out of my funk. At least I am not playing Candy Crush instead of reading!!! πŸ™‚ I am currently 126 pages in so almost half way through.
  • Strangers on a Train – Just started this on audio so not sure yet but it hasΒ  a decent narrator. Only 48 minutes in but better than my previous audio which I DNFed above.
  • Dead as a Door Knocker – So this is okay but it’s not as fun and cutsy as a lot of cozies and it was dragging me down. So I will keep going with it but it’s not a priority. I am about 30% in.

What might be up next

  • Assaulted Pretzel – Second book in the Amish Mystery series and another of my hopefuls of keeping me from slumping!
  • Magic Bites – Relisten as Barb and I have chosen this series to read this year and it’sΒ  been a few years since I read book one so I need to give it another go.

How was your week? What did you get?

Well, hopefully that means I am getting all the nasty out of the way and the rest of the year will be better. πŸ™‚

Having your website go down and also losing some of your posts just makes me shiver, Stormi. I’m so glad they fixed it all for you.

And sorry about your reading slump. That’s frustrating. Hope you get out of it with the series you love. I haven’t been reading too much so far either this year. I have a book that’s going okay, but I read a chapter and then put it down to do something else. After I finish it I’m going to pick a favorite series and/or author to get me back on track.

I hope this next week is a better week for you!

Don’t think of your blog going down as a negative, be thankful it was only down for a day and now it’s al fixed, nothing to worry about.

Maybe you can try some short reads, something that you can read through quickly. That way you can get a few reads in and might help you get rid of that slump.

I hope this week is awesome for you Stormi! Happy Reading! I miss your face! xx

  3. Greg

It’s relatively warm here too today for January. I’ll take it. πŸ™‚ And sorry to hear about the problems! I haven’t finished a book yet in the New Year either. I’m slacking. πŸ™‚

Bummer about An Anonymous Girl. Glad So Dark and Lonely was great though!

  4. Berls

That stinks about the blog – I’m glad it got all recovered, but still, no fun! I know what you mean about the weather, I wish it would make up it’s mind — preferably without the rain and cold! Hope this week is better for you πŸ™‚

  5. Nicci @ Sunny Buzzy Books

You’re right, that’s a pretty sucky start to the New Year but on the flip side it’ll get better!

I have an ARC of A Curse So Dark and Lonely too. I held of reading it last year so I could read closer to the release date. Glad you enjoyed it!

One of my biggest fears is my blog crashing and losing content! I’ve had my host server go down for a day and that made me crazy! And I had my entire computer crash a couple years ago, such a nightmare! I’m glad they were able to get everything fixed!
Last January was really rough for me reading-wise and I only finished one book, but I went on to read 134 for the year, so it’ll get better!!

At least the temps have been tolerable and I’m glad that you finally got your blog worked out. I really do hope your reading picks up. At least the McKinlay book should be good for getting out of your slump. Only 20 more pages of the Whale book and I’ll be back on The Passage.

  8. Anne

Hopefully you are back on track now. I’ll have to try that Library Lovers series, it sounds good. Hey you could have re-read Kate Daniels with us last year?!

I am reading library and KU this week since they count for COYER this week. Here’s to a better week and more great reads ahead. Anne – Books of My Heart

  9. Tina @ As Told By Tina

Oh no, I’m sorry that January hasn’t been off to a great start. I’m having similar troubles with reading. I want to read but I don’t know what I want to read. I do hope that January gets better for you.

  10. A Voracious Reader

I’ve said it once and I’ve said it lots, but I’ll say it again, this weather is ridiculous! *sigh* I’m off to a really slow start this year, too, but I finally finished two books. Whew! And YIKES for your blog. That’s scary! Glad it’s all back now.
