The Week In Review #208

August 5, 2018 Misc. 22

BMR,OHMy (1)The Week in Review is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and It’s Monday! What are you reading? ย If you have never joined in on these meme’s you can check them out by clicking on the meme and it will take you to the host blog.

I was so enjoying those nice 70’s and 80’s days but we are back into the 90’s but that is expected for this time of year. I am not going to rush getting to winter so I am complaining but not complaining…lol. ๐Ÿ™‚

I participated in my first readathon as a booktuber and it has been a lot of fun. I am learning that I am a horrible vlogger as my life is just not that interesting. ๐Ÿ™‚ I tried one of the video challenges and did some of the instagram challenges but kept forgetting about the twitter ones. I read a bunch though short books helped. I am sort of readathoned out but it was fun.

Not much more to report. Hope everyone had a great week and happy reading!

What you might have missed on my blog

Books I have added

  • An Anonymous Girl – Them publishers know I have no control when they send me emails about thrillers…lol.

Library Loot

  • Mistletoe Murder – I have been wanting to try this series for a while and going to give it a go even though it’s a Christmas one…lol.
  • Annihilation – Been wanting to try this one. Hope it’s not to sci-fictionish…lol.

Books read last week

ย ย ย ย ย ย

So I changed my TBR a little for the booktubeathon I participated in but still managed some how to get 7 books in! Yes, this clearly means I have no life and I am a hermit who does nothing but read.

  • The Snow Queen – So I have never read the actual Snow Queen and I only know the disney version of Frozen and this was a lot different than that so I am kind of curious about the original version of the Snow Queen. I did enjoy this but can’t compare it to any other version.
  • The Hound of the Baskervilles – I really enjoyed this one but I have never read the actual story so can’t compare it either.
  • A Murder for the Books – This was a different kind of cozy with a hunt for the truth of what happened a long time ago brings to light some unsettling things in the present. I really liked it.
  • Rattus New Yorkus – Typical fun Shea reading with lots and lots and I mean LOTS of nasty rats…lol. That in itself was creepy.
  • Persuasion – This was a reread and it was just as enjoyable as always.
  • Winnie-the-Pooh – was a quick decision as it was short and I wanted to get more books in…lol. It was cute though the narrator was horrid.
  • Undead Girl Gang – I liked this one. Mila performs a spell to bring back her dead friend so she can find out what happened to her and accidently brings back the two mean girls who died a week earlier as well.

Currently reading

  • The Black Country – So I am trying hard to get this one done at least on Sunday, but as I type thisย  I am about 155 pages in. It was for one of the booktubeathon challenges but if it doesn’t get read in time that is okay.
  • Killer Green Tomatoes – Second book in the Farm to Fork mystery series and I believe I am enjoying this one more than the first one. ๐Ÿ™‚

What might be up next

ย ย
  • Behind the Door – I can’t wait to dive into this one. It’s a new series involving Kathy Ryan who was in the book Chill which I enjoyed.
  • Onyx Webb – One of my bookish friends Laura sent this to me and I have yet to read it so I need too. I told myself that I am going to read more of my own books so for every couple eARCs I am reading from my shelves!
  • Annihilation – Been kind of curious about this since the movie came out. I haven’t seen the movie as I wanted to read the book or in this case listen. ๐Ÿ™‚

How was your week? What did you get?

  1. Jessica @ a GREAT read

OOoh nice new reads!! Those are new to me ones! I love a good thriller as well, but I find I’m kind of pickier about them. I’m not sure exactly what I look for in a thriller, but yeah. Lol! Hope you enjoy your new reads!!

    Here’s my STS

    Have a GREAT day!

Thanks for stopping by! I have a love hate relationship with thrillers so I hope this one is a good one! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Laura Thomas

It sounds like you’ve been ding lots of challenges and deserve a break, Stormi. LOL I hope you enjoy Onyx Webb. It’s a very addictive series.

    • Stormi

Yeah, but I can’t help myself sometimes with challenges. Especially readathons now that I am on booktube cause they are doing them all the time and I just want to join in…lol.

    • Stormi

I don’t mind warm but I hate hot, but then I don’t want it to be cold either…lol. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Stormi

I can’t wait to try Onyx Webb either as Laura really enjoys it so I am curious. ๐Ÿ™‚ At least someone is enjoying my rambling on

  3. Carole @ Carole's Random Life in Books

It has gotten really hot here again as well. I knew the nice weather couldn’t last but it was nice while it was here. It’s pretty boring around here and I don’t seem to able to get as many books read as you did this week. Have a great week!

  4. Greg

An Anonymous Girl looks good. And Annihilation- I hope you like it. I thought it was okay, it was more weird then science fiction-ish, I thought? Curious to see what you think!

    Killer Green Tomatoes lol.

    • Stormi

I watched a booktuber talk about Annihilation during booktubeathon that has made me decide to not read it and go on to something else…lol. He gave it like a 1.5 stars and I think there are more better books to try. ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Jenea's Book Obsession

I understand the weather completely. If it would make up it’s mind that would be wonderful. Our leaves are already starting to fall off the trees. That normally means a bad winter for us, so I am not wishing for the cooler temps just yet. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  6. Northwoman

Well it is great to have a good reading week and some fun choices in reading for the upcoming week. I’m struggling a bit and hope to read more this week. Anne – Books of My Heart

    • Stormi

Hope you have a good reading week this week and can find something to help you over the struggle!

  7. Katherine @ I Wish I Lived in a Library

I liked Killer Green Tomatoes more than the first one too. Maybe less setup? I just felt more connected though the South Cove series is still my favorite! I’ve subscribed to your channel but haven’t actually been able to get to any of the videos – it’s been a weird week. I hope your week is going great!

    • Stormi

I think maybe that is it, less set up. She had her restaurant established and her relationship with her man going good. It just ran smoother. South Cove will always be my favorite I think as well! Hope you get to check out a video or too. I am so horrible on there but I am sure I will get better. ๐Ÿ™‚

I think I would hate vlogging. I just don’t want to be videoed. I also say that I prefer reading reviews to watching them, truthfully. I’m not sure why, but I do. I think, maybe, because I read through it faster than listening to someone talk about it (which is kinda funny when you think about how much I enjoy audiobooks). The heat here has been tough too, though it is really the humidity that is killing me. I hope you get some cooler temps soon.
