The Week In Review #204

July 8, 2018 Memes 20

BMR,OHMy (1)The Week in Review is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and It’s Monday! What are you reading? ย If you have never joined in on these meme’s you can check them out by clicking on the meme and it will take you to the host blog.

Oh my goodness, do I have a lot of junk! I must say the living room and kitchen is starting to look better because I can now move my things up to my room. I just didn’t realise how much crap I had till I have to box it and carry it upstairs and find a place for it! I am still in the process of arranging things how I want and organizing the books I can bring up. I can’t bring all my books because of the short walls (half A frame walls) I can only have short bookcases. My legs are tired but hey maybe it will gain me some muscle and lose me some weight going up and down those stairs!

My dogs haven’t gotten brave enough to follow me up yet and I am okay with that for now as I don’t want them snooping in my things while I am putting things up. Poor dad has extra bed buddies though…lol. They are coping pretty good with me being upstairs and not having me with them all the time but I kinda miss them. ๐Ÿ™‚ Who know being wallered off your bed would be something I missed…lol. They are so excited when I come downstairs!

This weather is a killer, feel like I am melting. I don’t mind warm but this is ridiculously HOT! This coming week is still going to be in the 90’s but the weather guy said low humidity, so we shall see if he knows what he is talking about! ๐Ÿ™‚ The heat is totally killing my garden but I did finally find a couple half ripe tomatoes so I picked them and put them in my window seal to finish ripening as I was afraid they might rot if I left them out there…lol. I also found a small cucumber! I think something is wrong with my zuc plants so nothing happening there.

ย

Got a lot of reading finished this week so it made up for last week! Hope you’ll got a lot of reading done too!

Happy reading!

What you might have missed on my blog

Books I have added

Netgalley

ย
  • A Killing by the Sea – I liked this authors other cozy series and even though I still need to get to book one, I couldn’t help but pick up book two!
  • A Scandal in Scarlet – I still need to read book three but since it’s a series I am reading I had to grab it.

Trying to limit my grabs to author I love and series I am currently reading and not getting new ones and boy is that hard but I did pretty good. ๐Ÿ™‚

Library Loot

  • Beartown – I don’t normally pick up contemporary reads but head a lot about this one and I was curious so I figured getting itย  from the library was the way to go. ๐Ÿ™‚
  • Pet Sematary – I loved this when I was a teen and was curious about the audiobook version. ๐Ÿ™‚

Books read last week

ย ย ย ย ย

It looks like I read a lot but Salem’s Lot and Dead Beat where almost done last Sunday…lol. Spent lots of free time organizing books and working on my room so audios was the way to go this week…lol.

  • Batman: Nightwalker – I actually liked this one more than the Wonder Woman one and it’s also my first book by this author! Shocked I know…lol. ๐Ÿ™‚
  • Salem’s Lot – This was a reread through listening and I must say that even though I liked it, I don’t think I liked it as much as I did when I was a teen.
  • Dead Beat – Another fun one in the Harry Dresden series! These books are just so fun and I could listen to the narrator all day long…lol.
  • Rockets’ Dead Glare – A novella in my favorite cozy series and I thought it was fitting to listen to this week. ๐Ÿ™‚ Novella and only a couple hours on audio.
  • Aru Shah and the End of Time – This is a Rick Riordan presents book and I was curious about it. I enjoyed it and it was interesting learning about mythologies of India.
  • The Outsider – OMG! This was so good! Might have renewed my faith in Stephen King! So awesome on audio! Will Patton was great with the voices!

Currently reading

ย ย ย
  • Death and a Pot of Chowder – Cozy mystery set in a small Maine town. 15% in and so far it’s not bad.
  • Broken Promise – Romantic suspense and it’s okay.
  • Pet Sematary – This is a reread through listening as it’s narrated by Michael C. Hall (Dexter), so I was curious and it’s my favorite Stephen King book because it was my first one. About 10 hours left and I am enjoying it so far. ๐Ÿ™‚
  • Beartown – Not my normal read but I was curious as I have heard a lot about it so I thought I would give it a try since overdrive had it. Only about an hour into this one so not real sure about it yet.

  1. Jessica @ a GREAT read

Ooh nice new reads! Hope you enjoy them all!

Hope your move goes along smoothly too! It’s always heartbreaking when there’s not enough room for books. And omg, I am with you on this weather! It’s a killer! Though yesterday it seems Mother Nature gave us a break as it wasn’t killer hot and the humidity was low. I think it will be really hot today though. Ugh…is it winter yet?! Lol!

    Here’s my STS

    Have a GREAT day!

It is making me look at my books and decide if I really need to keep them or give them away. Some I have had so long and my reading taste have changed and I haven’t read them, but it still hard to give them up…lol.

  2. Jenea's Book Obsession

Good luck withe the cleaning. We’re doing a clean out out our house, it’s not going well. lol.. I don’t even know where half the stuff we have even came from. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Enjoy your week and the new books too.

  3. Carole @ Carole's Random Life in Books

I wonder if your dog will brave the stairs. My three dogs will not attempt the stairs leading to my basement. They sit at the top and drop their toys down when I am down there. I carried them down once but they are not small dogs so it didn’t go well for anyone. I hope you are getting the same break from the heat that we have had. Have a great week and enjoy all of your new books!

Dresden has started meeting me halfway up the stairs, but she hasn’t figured out that she can come up them any other time…lol. I am not sure the little ones will unless I carry them as they are small and old. One tried and fell down three stairs and about gave me a heart attack!

No breaks from the heat it was so hot today. ๐Ÿ™ We really need some rain it’s so dry here.

    • Stormi

We have ate a couple of tomatoes and they were sooo good! It’s the only time I eat tomatoes as I don’t like store bought ones.

Return to Fear Street looks really good and you know I’m anxious for your thoughts on Beartown. I’m glad you’re getting settled in and I know what you mean, when we don’t have a dog in bed at night, it does certainly feel differently. Of course they have great beds in the bedroom which they tend to use more when it’s summer, but once cooler weather hits, back in the bed they come!

    • Stormi

I hope the Fear Street book is fun…lol. So far Beartown is boring but I am not into hockey so all the town talks about hockey is dull.

    • Stormi

I won’t have room for all my books so most have to stay downstairs but I had to have some lovelies up here with me…lol.

    • Stormi

      I know, I have way more stuff that I thought…lol. Yes, it’s a tomato almost red! ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Aj @ Read All The Things!

The weather has been awful. I canโ€™t stand the heat. Good luck with getting your stuff moved. I never want to move my books because there are so many of them! I hope you have a good week!

  6. Tina

The weather has been dreadful. I have wanted to do some cleaning but I then I get hot and I just stop so that plan just isn’t working out for me. I totally understand about not having your dogs in bed with you. My son had a sleepover with my mom and he usually falls asleep in my bed and I have gotten so use to being kicked throughout the night, I couldn’t sleep. It was weird.

I keep seeing The Outsider out! I want to listen to the audiobook, Will Patton is one of my favorite narrators. I also listened to Aru Shah and I really enjoyed learning about the mythology. It was so interesting.

I hope you have a wonderful week!

I don’t envy you all the moving! I’m about to tackle one section of what was once a kid’s bedroom and is now the storage/catch all room and I’m DREADING it. Tackling a whole room sounds exhausting. I’m keeping the going outside to a minimum. I’m not a fan of the humidity and it’s making my hair enormous! Too bad about the zucchini plant. I’ve had blossom rot something fierce on squash plants two years in a row and I was so annoyed! Have a great week!

  8. Emma

How do we all collect so much junk. I threw so much out two years ago when we moved and I swear iโ€™ve โ€œRestockedโ€ since then.

  9. Rachel

Too bad about your garden. I have a garden this year that’s being killed by weeds. I didn’t want it because I don’t like weeding, but my sister-in-law planted it anyway.lol I do love tomatoes, though. I should go see if there are any ripe ones.
