The Week In Review #200

June 10, 2018 Misc. 22

BMR,OHMy (1)The Week in Review is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and It’s Monday! What are you reading? Β If you have never joined in on these meme’s you can check them out by clicking on the meme and it will take you to the host blog.

This week just seemed to fly by for me! Not a lot happened either, just working on my house. So some of you want to see my garden pics so here is my very late garden. I think a lot of people planted late gardens do to the stupid cold spring…l

I forgot to take a pic of my jap pepper plants but here is one of my tomatoes, zucs and cucs. πŸ™‚ The other veggies are not big enough to take pictures of yet. πŸ™‚ I have 8 tomato plants, 5 zucs and 6 cucs, 3 jap peppers, 6 bell peppers (if they grow lol) and some radishes. Not as much as before because of the late start.

Have a great week and happy reading!!

What you might have missed on my blog

Books I have added

Β Β
  • Rattus New Yorkus – I love me some Shea horror! And since I have been reading When Animals Attack and watching a lot of the movies referenced (A whole lot of cheesy horror!), I have been in a bit of a horror mood. I actually just watched a rat horror called Deadly Eyes so I am down for more rats! πŸ™‚
  • Behind the Door – I read Chill by this author a few years ago and Kathy Ryan was a part of that book and I guess the author has decided to give her a series! So even though this one is the first in a new series I kind of feel like it’s the second one or Chill was a prequel…lol. Anyway I liked Chill so had to have this one.
  • Twas the Knife Before Christmas – I know, can you believe it’s only June and I have a Christmas cozy on my blog!!!! Going to read it soon too for COYER’s Christmas in July readathon as I loved the first book in this series and must read this one soon! The readathon gives me a good excuse to not have to wait. πŸ™‚

Library Loot

  • To Kill a Kingdom – I have heard a lot of good things about this one and how it’s a bit dark and I really wanted it. I requested my library get it and I ended up second in line so now I get to try it! Yay! It’s kind of a dark retelling of little mermaid but with sirens.
  • Hell House – In a horror mood and always wanted to try this one.

From the Publisher

  • Darking Dreamers Club: Milla Takes Charge – A Diverse cast of characters based on Disney’s Dream Big, Princess campaign. The words Disney was all I really needed to snatch it up. πŸ™‚

Books read last week

Β Β Β
  • Scandal Above Stairs – I really liked this one! I wished for more of the banter between Daniel and Kat that was in the first one but it was still good and I am ready for another one! πŸ™‚
  • B is for Burglar – This one wasn’t to bad and I might pick another one up before the year is out.
  • Let Me Lie – Finally a thriller I liked!! The twist actually caught me off guard, I knew something was not right but just couldn’t figure it out!
  • Cold As Ice – Love this series! All caught up on audio till the next one comes out as it’s in ebook I believe but I love this series on audio.

Currently reading

Β Β Β Β
  • Staged For Murder – Just getting started but it already has me laughing with the antics from the book club and her mother.
  • Milla Takes Charge – Just picked this one up as well so no opinion yet. Trying to get it done quickly like the pub wishes. πŸ˜‰
  • When Animals Attack – Okay, I am not sure how some of theses movies were voted best horror with killer animals…lol. Some are so boring it’s hard to watch! Some have been surprisingly good as well. I am up to Monkey Shine being my next movie (cute little monkey turns killer!).
  • Blood Rites – I am about 3 hours in and it is so fun being back with Harry Dresden. Love it and James Marster the narrator…sighs. (This one is on my pc)
  • Blindsighted – This one is geared up to listen to tomorrow when I go water my garden. (It’s on my phone)

What might be up next

Β Β

As you can see I need some horror or dark stories…lol. πŸ™‚

What I watched

So mostly watched horror movies from When Animals Attack. I watched Deadly Eyes (rats) 1982, Dogs 1976 , Frogs 1972 (with a young Sam Elliott, hubba hubba!), Grizzly 1976, Kingdom of Spiders 1977, Locust 1974, and Long Weekend 1978 (this was more man vs nature than animal attacking).

How was your week? What did you get?

Congrats on the garden. I haven’t been able to do any work outside, but I will be starting this week and I look forward to it. Jurassic Florida looks great.

The garden look great! Fresh is always the best way to go. And your library has the best books, I wish we had a larger library. But I do live in a small county, so. πŸ™ Have a great week.

I love fresh veggies! Especially tomatoes this time of the years is pretty much the only time I gorge on tomatoes as I don’t like them out of a grocer. I live in a small county but we do have a pretty good library, though most of that is due to overdrive!

    • Stormi

Thanks! That is so odd you didn’t get approved for the Shea books, glad you pre-ordered them! They look so fun!

    • Stormi

Yeah, my tomato plants are the only things with veggies on them everything else is still too small. Hope we get lots of yummy veggies when they grow!

I couldn’t help myself with the books but at least not all were review books! πŸ™‚

Your garden looks like it’s doing well – maybe because you started it late with the cold spring! And now we have the HOT summer… at least we do. And it’s not TECHNICALLY summer yet. *sigh* Hope you have a great week πŸ™‚

It’s been pretty warm here but not extreme yet but I am sure it’s coming. πŸ™ I wanted a spring…sniffles. πŸ™‚

I didn’t end up doing a garden this year and I’m already kind of regretting it because no fresh tomatoes! All the other stuff I can buy else where but nothing is better than a tomato fresh from the garden. I’ve got Scandal Above Stairs coming up and am really looking forward to it. I loved the first book but will keep my expectations low on the banter situation. Staged 4 Murder is another one I’m looking forward to. Have a great week!

You should do a couple of container tomato plants, that way you could at least have fresh tom. πŸ™‚ I hope you like Scandal Above Stairs, it was really good. It has a lot more of Elgin Thanos in it and I like him, he is one geeky gentleman. πŸ™‚ Staged 4 Murder is so funny!!! You need to get to it.

  6. Greg

Twas The Knife Beofre Christmas- ha ha. that cracks me up. πŸ™‚ I need to get Jurassic Florida too, because why the heck not? Looks awesome! πŸ™‚ I love animal attack movies, and Frogs sounds awesome (ha ha). We need more killer frogs. Also- Rttus New Yorkus? Oh my…

Scandal Above Stairs and of course Cold As Ice look great!

    • Stormi

You got to love cozy titles!! πŸ™‚ I really like Hunter Shea he just has fun horror books.

    • Stormi

Yeah Behind the Door sound great! πŸ™‚ I hope To Kill A Kingdom is a good one too.

I read Hell House a long time ago and if I’m remembering correctly, I found it slow. Having just breezed through Jurassic Florida, I think you’ll love it. Behind the Door does sound great. To Kill a Kingdom wasn’t bad, I think I was just not in the mood for it. I still love the cover though and it was a solid read. I hope it works for you.
