The Week In Review #2

September 6, 2014 Memes 42

BMR,OHMyMy Week In Review is where I combine three memes that sort of go together and put in into just one post. Β It’s easier for me to get it done this way and I also won’t forget one. Β Stacking the shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews, The Sunday Post is hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and It’s Monday, What are you reading is hosted by Book Journey.

First off I would like to put a huge thank you out there to Michelle from Because Reading for making me this lovely button for my post. It’s way prettier and cooler than the one I attempted last weekend. πŸ™‚

So this was my first week back at Scholastic and it was a training week. I really already knew all the stuff from working there before but thought I would need a refresher course and found out I really didn’t. So I had one of the most boring weeks ever!! It made the day soooo long and then when I got home I was so tired I didn’t want to do anything. So I didn’t really get much reading done this week. And I don’t have any extra reviews made up ahead of time as I am sort of a read one review one type gal, so only one review from me last week. My blogger buddy on the other hand put out some good ones. Β (I have already browsed the bookstore at my workplace…there goes half my paycheck..lol..I must resist!!!)

It’s times like these I wish I read books faster, because I have some serious reading I need to do and wish I had some reviews to schedule. πŸ™

A few excited things did happen this week as I became and Avon Member and was excepted to be part of the Klovers official review crew!! I am so excited.

avonmember klover

Reviews from last week.

Stormi’s Review:

For the Longest Time by Kendra Leigh Castle (Cute second chance romance)

Kathy’s reviews:

Zac and Mia by A. J. Betts (sound a bit to sad for me)

Stitching Snow by R. C. Lewis (A part of me wants to read this one and a part doesn’t..hmm)

Shadow Spell by Nora Roberts (I want to read this series myself! Sounds good.)

White Hot Kiss by Jennifer L. Armentrout (This one sounds good too!)

New books this week.

You ever have one of those weeks when you don’t think your getting to many books and then all of a sudden all the books you had requested come in..that was my week. I really thought I was doing good this week but then looking over it I am like oh my that is a lot.

Thank you Tor Books!

Book I finished last week.

How to Fall by Jane Casey (review)

Books currently reading.

Of Madness and Monsters by Jessica Verday (I was suppose to have read this one but wasn’t in the mood)

Blackbird by Anna Carey (didn’t get to it last week so it’s what I am currently diving into)

The Fall by Bethany Griffin

The Iron Trails by Cassandra Clare and Holly Black

If I get those done which I am a slow reader so I seriously doubt I will finish all three, but if I do I will list what is up next.

Up next.

It by Steven King (been saying I was going to read this one for years but keep putting it off, so going to read it a little at a time. Anyone want to do a read-a-long with me just let me know..lol.)

Illusions of Fate by Kiersten White

Then what ever gets picked off of my TBR list.

Things happening on my blog right now.

I am joining in on the TBR pile read-a-thon, I figured this would be something I could accomplish because I needed to get to some of these books listed in my post I did a few weeks ago. If you want to participate check out Wishful Ending’s blog post and sign up.

I also joined in on the R.I.P challenge since I love reading these types of books around this time of year. Come join the challenge!

I would love for you all to come check out the new meme by Michelle at Because Reading. It’s the My TBR List meme and you list three book from your TBR list and then readers vote on what they want to see you read. Which is why I said what ever gets picked from my TBR list. You can check out my list here and go check out Michelle’s and come join the fun!

Great haul! I’m slowly getting back into my Net Galley/Edelweiss ARCS. I’m trying to shave off my TBR list some before I go crazy. Thanks for stopping by my STS!

    • ladystorm

I am going to have to make a new years resolution that says no netgalley until my percentage goes up a LOT and no edelweiss (but when Harper does there upload I can’t help myself..lol) Thanks for stopping by. πŸ™‚

  2. Sandy @ Somewhere Only We Know

Sorry you had a boring week at work. Hope it gets better. That’s definitely quite a haul. I know exactly what you mean about all your review books getting approved at one time. I’m not quite on an official ban, but I’ve purposefully avoided NetGalley and Edelweiss until I can catch up on some of my review books! Hope you have a great week!

I tried to ban myself a few months ago and it worked for a little while, then I caved. I think starting the beginning of next year I am banning new ones unless they are part of a series I have read. I got to catch up.

      Thanks for stopping by!

  3. Alison

I’ve had to make myself say no to NetGalley for the time being. I NEED to actually stop reading long enough to write some reviews! I’m looking forward to reading The Iron Trial. I’m curious to see what you think of it.

    • ladystorm

I wish I read fast enough that I had reviews to catch up on. I am sort of a read one review one type person, but I would like to have some so I could be a bit ahead on my blog. πŸ™‚ Thanks for stopping by!

  4. Michelle@Because Reading

Thank you for the mention! I am so glad you are happy with the logo πŸ™‚
YOU MUST read Of Monsters and Madness. I really liked that book. It’s such a mix of things I just think she did a good job regardless of what reviews say I enjoyed it πŸ™‚

I am 100% with you. I am such a slow reader and I wish I was a lot faster. I have a list to get to as well and I am not sure I will get to them all πŸ™ I need a reading vacation lol

    Have a great week Stormi!!!

    • ladystorm

Well, I am conflicted on where or not I care for Blackbird so I might just start on Of Monsters and Madness…lol. πŸ™‚ Thanks for stopping by!

    • ladystorm

I’m not ready for Christmas and I can’t believe so many books with that theme are already out!!! I couldn’t help but grab a few..hehe. Thanks for stopping by!

  5. Kirsty-Marie

Does sound a little boring. πŸ™ But being a part of a review crew sounds exciting! πŸ™‚ My True Love Gave to Me! I don’t usually read Anthologies but I have to make an exception for that, so many good authors! πŸ™‚

    • ladystorm

I don’t really like anthologies either but I thought I would give this one a try because it has a great selection of authors. Thanks for stopping by!

  6. Terri M.

Resist the books! Oh, who am I kidding, it would be nearly impossible for me too. I used to work at The Disney Store part-time and basically I would spend a lot of my paycheck there every week. πŸ™‚

Have a good week and enjoy the new job.

    • ladystorm

I know I need to resist, but when paperbacks are only 35 cents it sure is hard..lol. I think it would be worse if I had kids because there little kid selection is awesome! Board books for only 2 bucks you can’t beat that when most of those are like 12-15 dollars!

      Thanks for stopping by!

  7. Greg

I’m not that good at getting ahead on reviews either, although I’m getting better at it. I think The Wolf In winter looks good, and the holiday anthology doesn’t look bad either. I do like to read a good anthology sometimes…

The vote on your next read thing looks like fun, I voted for Pines. Sounds like a good thriller…

    • ladystorm

I feel like I need to take a break from my blog..read a few books spread out the reviews so I have some and then get back to the blog..lol. I just cant seem to do it. πŸ™ Thanks for stopping by!

  8. Berls @ Fantasy is More Fun

Love the logo (isn’t Michelle awesome?)! I know how it feels- I’m a slow reader and blogger. I say blogger because I don’t have a job and yet somehow I can’t keep up with things like everyone else who has a job?! WTH? Oh well, we do our best πŸ˜‰ Hope you have a more exciting week at work (I think? LOL exciting can be bad… so good exciting!) and congrats on Klover (me too) and Avon (I haven’t applied…) Have a great week!

    • ladystorm

Even when I wasn’t working it seems like it takes me half the day to work on my blog..lol. I have to get started on my Weekend Review way early or it takes me all day…LOL. I am so excited about the Klover and avon memberships. (Avon is easier as you just sign up and your a member, but have to work your way up to avon addict) Thanks for stopping by and have a great week too!

  9. Tressa @ Wishful Endings

I don’t know how I missed the Christmas compilation, but I’m hoping I’m not too late to get a copy. Thanks for joining the read-a-thon! I hope you get a lot of reading done!! Working at Scholastic would be a hit on my paycheck. πŸ™‚

    • ladystorm

Hope you get the Christmas book I am sure it’s still available! Thanks for stopping by!

  10. Lexxie @ (un)Conventional Bookviews

LOL, yes, that thinking I was really good this week because I hardly got any books at all and then wham! several e-mails from Netgalley informing me I’ve been accepted for several books. It’s great in many ways, but also a little daunting.
Your list of new books look amazing though.
I’m sorry your first week at work was so boring! I hope it will be better next week, Stormi. And that you’ll enjoy work without spending all of your money on books πŸ˜‰
Have a great week, and happy reading.

    • ladystorm

I don’t know if taking teachers book orders will be considered interesting..but I can think of it as all those kids who are getting a joy out of reading. πŸ™‚ Thanks for stopping by! Hope you have a great week as well!

  11. Katherine @ I Wish I Lived in a Library

Pretty much every week is one of those where I don’t think I’m going get many books and then end up with a ton. I enjoyed the Susan Mallery you got. I don’t love all her books but I thought that one was really sweet. Hope next week is a little better work and readingwise! Congrats on Klover and Avon. I’m curious about Avon. I love so many of their authors! Have a great week!

    • ladystorm

Well, I know that I have to try and come up with a review plan because I am so behind. I must ban myself from NG and EW for a while until I catch up..but checking out every one’s stacking the shelf only makes me want to go get books..lol. You should check out the Avon membership it’s easy to get into but you have to work on becoming an Avon addict where it looks like you get a lot of cool stuff! Thanks for stopping by!

  12. Lark

Wow, that’s a lot of book requests to come in all at once. And congratulations on becoming a Klover and Avon Member!

    • ladystorm

Yep, it was a bit daunting when I seen all them..must not request for a while. πŸ™‚ Thanks for stopping by!

  13. Nikki

Haha, I often have the problem where you’re trying to have a low-book week and then suddenly all your requests are approved and so on! Good luck with getting through them all, and I hope you enjoy!

    • ladystorm

Yeah it’s fun to get the books, but then I look at my stack and go oooh my..lol. Thanks for stopping by!

  14. Rita @ My Home of Books

So many good books I can’t start to list all the ones I am interested in! I am also a new Klover member but have yet to pick a book for it. Have a great week, and enjoy work and those books.

    • ladystorm

Before I became a Klover I got accepted for a couple books then I was accepted and couldn’t help getting a couple more..but that just means I got to get to reading! πŸ™‚ Thanks for stopping by!

  15. Wendy

Saw the link for the RIP IX Challenge and think I might get into some spooky stories! You have a lot of books to review; hope they are good ones :).

    • ladystorm

I didn’t need a reason to read spooky stories but I thought that challenge sounded cool..and well it gives me a reason to read them…lol. Thanks for stopping by!

  16. Kathy Martin

You have some nice ones on your stack. My reading has really slowed down since school started. I have a massive stack that I need to read too. Luckily, I do have a bunch of reviews scheduled. I stockpiled during the summer. Happy reading!

    • ladystorm

I need to read some and schedule the reviews, but then I wouldn’t have anything to put on my blog. Well except for what my blogging buddy puts up that girl can read!..lol. Thanks for stopping by.

  17. Elsi

Thanks for stopping by my blog — and I see that you’re also participating in #TackleTBR. Good haul of books this week. I think I’ll track down Tut: The Story of My Immortal Life. It sounds like a very interesting book.
