The Week In Review #198

BMR,OHMy (1)The Week in Review is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and It’s Monday! What are you reading? Β If you have never joined in on these meme’s you can check them out by clicking on the meme and it will take you to the host blog.

So not much going on this week. Been in a blah mood but not really a reading slump just not reading cause I am getting sidetracked by a lot of other things. Things like working on my room, designing more things for my portfolio, or even getting sidetracked by booktube…lol. So reading has been a bit slow but I am really okay with that as I feel it just means I need a break.

I think summer has officially came early as it was 90 today, sighs. I like spring, I wanted more spring and 70’s…boo, oh well. πŸ™‚

Happy reading!

What you might have missed on my blog

Books I have added

Netgalley

Β

  • When Animals Attack: It’s a book about iconic movies based on animal attacks, I had to have it! πŸ™‚

Gift (my book bff is awesome!)

Β Β

So I got this cool package in the mail from Thriftbooks (a place I need to check out online) and it had these books! I knew they were coming but Barb wouldn’t let me know what was in the package, she was so mean…lol. We both wanted the Anonymous Rex series after seeing the first one on Tammy’s blog. Since she found two sets on Thriftbooks she got one for me and one for her, might be a buddy read in the future! πŸ˜‰ The other book she said she has read and liked and thought I might like it and it does sound good! πŸ™‚

Books read last week

Β

  • A Front Page Affair – I really enjoyed this Historical mystery featuring a young lady who works for the Ladies Page but really wants to report on real news. She gets her chance to investigate a death because she happened to be at the party when it happened. 4 stars
  • Color Me Murder – First in the Pen and Ink mysteries about Florrie who works at a bookstore and also creates coloring books. It was a very enjoyable first in series! 4 stars
  • Stalking Jack the Ripper – Audrey Rose is an unorthodox young woman who would rather learn about anatomy than frilly dresses and works with her Uncle who dissects cadavers for study. When women start turning up dead she is right in the middle of things trying to figure out who done it leading her on the trail of Jack the Ripper and a big surprise she didn’t see coming. Interesting take on a Jack the Ripper story. 4 stars

Currently reading

Β Β Β Β Β

  • Dead as a Doornail – No reflection on any of these books just not reading fast right now. I should have this one done by now but I am about 52% in and really enjoying it.
  • The Mermaids Singing – I am listening to this one on audio and following in the book since Its one on my shelf. I am 190/364 pages in so about 53% and it’s creepy and the author has one messed up imagination when it comes to serial killer and details!
  • Captain Superlative – Not really my cuppa tea but not bad either so just been reading about a chapter a night. Can’t remember where I am in this one.
  • When Animals Attack – I couldn’t help but start this one then after talking with Barb came up with a post idea for summer. I am looking up the movies and if I can find them free online I am watching them. I am going to do a When Animals Attack post starting with A and working my way down the alphabet as that is how it is in the book. So look out for a Summer of Animal Attacks! πŸ˜‰ πŸ™‚ So this might take some of my reading time…hehehe. Reading breaks are good. πŸ™‚

What might be up next

Β

Other than this I am not sure, probably still working on the above books. πŸ™‚

  1. Yeah, we don’t get a spring in my neck of the woods. It seems it’s summer 49% of the year and winter 49% of the year and that other 2% are the random days that may actually be a spring or fall day! Lol! Thus the life of a Midwesterner!

Nice new reads! Totally new to me ones! Hope you enjoy them!

    Here’s my STS

    Have a GREAT day!

  2. Lots of interesting books here. I had to go read about Obscura. I saw that one and I want to try to fit in reading it soon. It sounds so interesting. I’ll see you over at COYER the next few months. Anne – Books of My Heart

  3. When Animals Attack lol- looks fun! And yeah I miss spring- it passed us right over I guess, a few nice days and now HOT. Same here- 90’s the last two days *sigh*

I need to get to Watching the Detectives.

  4. I know what you mean about getting sidetracked by other things. Sometimes life gets in the way of reading but it’s not necessarily a bad thing when you’re doing other productive, creative things. The Anonymous Rex series looks really funny.

  5. I hope we love Anonymous Rex. It sounds like a really odd read but hey, I like odd. You did good not adding too many books this week. Most of mine were library finds so I guess that’s okay. Glad you’re having so much fun with the When Animals Attack book!
