I am officially back home with an epic flight horror story! We got up early Wednesday morning (3 am) as they thought the traffic would be really bad but it ended up not being bad and we were way early for our 8 am flight. The lady who gave me out tickets said they had an earlier flight and if they had space would put us on that and that happened. So we get to Manila and sit and wait for the next flight as we are now really early there…lol. We make the flight to LA just fine, a nice 12 hour flight..ugh. Then it’s time to board for Chicago and we get on the plane (12: 30 pm) and then we sit there and sit there. The Captain comes on the the intercom and tells us that there is going to be Β delay because Chicago was having some bad t-storms and the flights there were grounded till it was over, so that meant we couldn’t leave yet. Then we sat and waited and waited.

By 5:30 pm we finally got an all clear to go, while I was on the plane I get a message saying our flight home had been rebooked for 10:05 am Thursday!!!!! I mean I knew we where going to miss our 8:20 pm flight to Springfield, Mo. but surely their had to be an earlier one. We finally land in Chicago at 11pm (with the time zone changes). The only thing open was a Starbucks in the airport and we were starving because the last actual meal we had was at 10 am on Weds. and it was airplane food. So we go there even though dad is not happy with the prices. We eat and finally find a place to sit down and we are so physically tired. I call the airline to be told that the earliest flight to Springfield was the 10 am flight. So we got to spend a lovely night in the airport. Every one was sharing their horror stories too and I heard some bad ones. Some people couldn’t get a flight till Friday, and there was some young teenagers who couldn’t go anywhere till Β Friday but couldn’t get a hotel room because there were not 18. It was horrid.

I don’t know about you but I can’t sleep on an airplane so I hadn’t really had any sleep and my poor dad is just to old for that kind of thing and he looked so tired. It started raining again in Chicago and everyone was antsy but it went away. There was a small delay with our home flight but we made it to Springfield by 12:05 pm Thursday and promptly went to Mcd’s for something to eat I think my dad at two meals….lol. Made it back to our house at about 3pm.

I know officially feel sorry for you northerners who get snowed in all the time at airports cause that experience is horrid!! Worst flight experience every and hope to never have that happen again! To make matters worse when I got home my wifi wouldn’t work!!! I was like ooooh no, I had three weeks of that it best work. Turns out since we had it unplugged it had to recharge. πŸ™‚

Happy note, my fur babies were so excited to see me and I them!

Short little happy dogs video…lol.

Here are a few of my souvenir trinkets and a couple of foreign books I got one last time too so I think that means I need to start a foreign book collection. πŸ™‚

Speaking of books I managed to read/listen to 17 books while I was in the Philippines and that translates into lots of reviews to catch up on…ugh. πŸ™‚

So COYER has officially started and I just verily got my reading list done in time, but I am ready! Click the image for kick off post!

Also, I was a bit late putting up the Binge Watcher post but me and Michelle are doing a new meme all about the shows we binge watch. It officially starts next Wed. but you can check out the intro post by clicking on the image.

So went from hot weather to hot weather but that is okay, it’s no were near as hot here as it was in the Philippines…lol. As I write this I actually hear thunder so I suspect a down pour soon, the rain sure has been crazy this year.

Sorry for the long ramble! πŸ™‚

What you might have missed on my blog

Books I have added

Β Β

Though I was only going to end up with one but I am having trouble adjusting to being back and the time change so I was browsing Netgalley at the wee hours of the morning on Saturday…lol.

  • Optical Delusion – I enjoyed Just Add Water so I knew I had to get the next in the series involving those weird ads in comics. This one is about those x-ray glasses. πŸ™‚
  • Dead on the Bayou – Still not got to book one but I had to grab book two. πŸ™‚
  • Artful – is a graphic novel about the Artful Dogger with a twist – vampires.

Thanks to the publishers and netgalley!

It was exciting to come home and find a few packages in our box we had set for my brother to put our mail. πŸ™‚

  • Download for 3 free audiobooks from It came in that cool little bag with some earbuds! Now to decide what to get!
  • PixiePiper and the Matter of the Batter – I really liked the first book in the duology so I was excited when the author contacted me about the new one.
  • Royally Romanov – Second in the Royals series and based on Anastasia. Now I really need to read the first one…lol.

Thanks Annabelle Fisher, Simon and Schuester and!

  • Ragdoll – Been wanting this one for a while and so I was excited to see it on sale for 1.99. πŸ™‚

Books read last week

Β Β Β

  • The Darkest Corner – I enjoyed it but it was a little different that what I normally think of as romantic suspense. It was really funny and kind of quirky and well that worked for me. πŸ™‚
  • Lost Boy – Wow, talk about a dark read but I really enjoyed it. Kind of thought it was slow to start but at the same time I couldn’t quiet reading and then I just had to find out how it ended. Never was a Peter Pan fan and it’s a good thing cause he was not nice…lol.
  • Brew or Die – I liked this next installment of Brew to Die but I still wish she would figure out her love life as it is driving me crazy, but the mystery is really good.
  • Grace Against the Clock – This one was just as good as the others in this series. I love Grace and the gang!

  1. That does sound like an epic horror story! At least you had your dad with you. I’d be freaked to spend the night in the airport alone. I feel bad for those teenagers too!

Nice new reads! Mostly new to me ones! Though I also got Lost Boy this week and plan to read that one as soon as I finish my current read!

    Happy Reading!!

    Here’s my STS

    Have a GREAT day!

  2. Sam

Flight delays are the worst! But, at least you were greeted so warmly. Love the Binge Watchers meme. I am not a huge TV watcher, but I know tons of people who could do this one.

  3. I knew all that but YAY! you are finally home! πŸ™‚ I can’t wait for the Binge Watchers Post, I was working on it yesterday and hope to get to finish it today, I’ll send the link when I make it.

YAY! I am so glad you are home! πŸ™‚

Have a great week, Stormi! Happy Reading! oxoxox

  4. Oh my goodness, that flight story πŸ™ I hope you have had your bad flight experience quota and this one marks the last one. EVER.
And your fur babies are adorable πŸ™‚

  5. Dammit! I posted on the wrong day. I went to read your Currently I’m and posted there instead. Blonde moment! lol

So, copy and paste it is. LOL

I haven’t flown since 1997 and I really have no desire to especially after hearing your ordeal. No food?! Yikes! Hubby would not be able to do that with his diabetes. I always carry snacks in case of a low sugar, but I would not have enough for that many hours.

Looks like you had a fantastic trip! Traveling is always nice, but it’s awesome to be home, right? lol

    • Stormi

It was a fun trip but I am not a huge fan of flying. I hope someone develops teleportation some day…lol.

  6. Welcome back! I’m sorry about your flight horror. I can’t sleep on a plane either. Glad you are home safe.

Your books look good and I love the idea of the bingewatching meme. I think I might join in.

    Have a great week.

  7. Oh Lord, we are flying next month with one layover. Your story makes me cringe. I have enough trouble sitting on a long flight but being stuck at the airport overnight..gads. I would have kissed my home when I got there! We had no internet for 24 hours with the storm. It was how i imagine hell

    • Stormi

I hope your flight is a great one with no hang ups! I was really glad to be home when that last flight hit home it was such a relief. πŸ™‚ Oh goodness I would go stir crazy with no internet…oh wait I did while I was in the Philippines…lol. They have the worst wifi!

  8. I’m just so glad you are finally home. You and your poor dad. I bet you are still trying to recover. Glad you got your reading list done. Is it bad that I’m already planning what 5 to add once I finish 5. I worked outside today in the flower garden and it was hot as hell. We are supposed to get rain tonight. My luck it will storm and Booker will freak out. I loved seeing your happy little pups!

    • Stormi

Yes, we are still recovering and I think I am about ready for a nap…lol. Nobody mowed for us while we were away so you can just imagine what it looks like out there. πŸ™ So I have that to look forward too at least it rained today so I can delay it one more day…lol.

  9. That whole flight experience sounds miserable but I hope the vacation was good!
Binge Watchers sounds like an awesome new post opportunity but I just put myself on a Binge Ban for COYER! Haha. Anything to catch up on my reading goals! πŸ™‚

    • Stormi

The vacation was good and it always seems like we have bad luck on the way home with flights…lol. Well, one COYER is over you can join in on Binge Watchers then. πŸ™‚

  10. Aw nice video- the dogs look pretty happy! And I’m not a fan of flying, and that’s one of the reasons why (those layovers). Ugh. I mean I’ll fly if I have to, but would rather not lol. What a nightmare! Glad you made it back and are home though, must feel good!

Binge Watchers looks fun, can’t wait to see those posts. And looks like a pretty good book haul.

    • Stormi

My dogs haven’t left my side. πŸ™‚ I am curious about what others will do for Binge Watchers too! πŸ™‚

  11. I’m tired just reading that! I can’t sleep on airplanes or in airports either so I feel your pain. I’m not a big Starbucks food fan period and you definitely don’t get value for your money. I bet McDonald’s never tasted so good! Dead on the Bayou has been tempting me but so far I’ve resisted. I’m sure I’ll regret it when I see your review! I’ve got Booked 4 Murder starting next up. It looks like a fun read! Have a great week and get some rest!

  12. Oh gawd! You must be soooo glad to be back home! What a calamity! I can’t imagine travelling for so long, and being that hungry! I’ll look forward to your many reviews πŸ™‚ Have a great week.

  13. You weren’t kidding about a horror story. I always worry when flying and having to change flights. So far I’ve been lucky for the most part. I love the video of your furbabies. They are so well behaved for being so excited:)

    Welcome back!

  14. Oh my gosh. Ack! That stinks. Glad yall made it home finally and got some food! A lot of what I do at the USO is working with military who have had flight issues like that. So not fun! Hope yall are able to unwind a bit now and recover from vacation!

  15. I’ve already commented on your horror story on IG so not saying anything else. Your poor dad! 17 books is a lot! How long were you gone? I bet you were happy to be home. I loved your dog video! They missed you! Welcome back!
