The Week In Review #144

June 11, 2017 Memes 28

BMR,OHMy (1)The Week in Review is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and It’s Monday! What are you reading? Β If you have never joined in on these meme’s you can check them out by clicking on the meme and it will take you to the host blog.

My time in the Philippines is almost over as we leave on Wednesday. I can’t wait as I am really ready to go home. I miss all the comforts of home and my fur babies. I really only came so that my father could visit friends and I didn’t want him going alone or getting lost in the airport as he is almost 70. When we did something like the beach it was fun but a long day. Well any time we did something it was a long day the traffic here is worst that probably NYC! It takes all day to go and come back. So tiring. When not doing anything I just stayed in my room and read or listened to an audiobook, so it was okay but now ready to be home with internet that works! πŸ™‚ I need my TV for background noise it’s to quiet here…lol. So last week I told you I was going to the salon here, it was a 4 hour ordeal but my hair is pretty and straight and not all fuzzy frizz…lol. Ignore the horrible no make up face…lol. πŸ™‚

It’s so soft…lol. These peeps take their hair care serious lol.

I have a lot of catching up on the blog when I get back, read a lot of books that need reviewing and I have to make my Summer COYER reading list!!! Hope you all are ready for COYER!

What you might have missed on my blog

Books I have added

Β Β
  • Canal Days Calamity – Enjoyed book one and Barb let me know book two was out so #barbmademedoit and since we buddy read the first one we will do this one later in the year. πŸ™‚
  • Gone to Dust – Down below you will see I am currently reading book one, since I got an email for this one and just couldn’t pass it up. πŸ™‚
  • Shark Island – Seen this one on Barbs Β blog so another #barbmademedoit. We love to much of the same stuff…lol.
  • Secrets of the Dead – Still need to read book one in this series but seen this one and couldn’t help it. πŸ™‚

Books read last week

Β Β
  • The Heartless City – After Dr. Jekyll made his Hyde formula someone came and revamped it causing it to turn the Hydes into heart eating monsters. So I liked it but didn’t love it, there was a bit of something that I am not a huge fan of but others won’t mind. (audio)
  • The Supernormal Sleuthing Service – This was a really cute story about a young boy Stephen who finds out that the stories his grandmother told him about monsters are true when his dad has to take her place as the head Chef at a hotel for monsters. Trouble happens of course…lol.
  • Murder on Black Swan Lane – If your a fan of Deanna Raybourn’s books then I think you will enjoy this one. Lord Wexford gets in a bit of trouble when everyone thinks he is a murderer because of his arguments with the deceased and the satirical artist who depicts the murder and pokes fun at him doesn’t help. Then they end up having to work together to clear the Lords name. Loved it! I am really enjoying the historical mysteries!

Currently reading

  • The Darkest Corner – Heard this one was good and wanted it and then realized I had it after getting an email from the publisher about the second one!! So I upped it on my reading list. I haven’t read a romantic suspense in a while so its a nice change.
  • Brew or Die – Though not a huge fan of the way the author has the poor MC’s romantic life a bit of a wreck and two many guys she has feelings for, I do like the mystery element and the characters. I am hoping she chooses a guy at one point in this series before I get to bored with the drama. (#4, audio)

What might be up next

  • Cap’s Place – Book one in a crime series that I have been wanting to try. Β (audio)
  • Lost Boy – Heard good things about this author though I didn’t read Alice as I am not a Wonderland fan, and I am not a Peter Pan fan but I am a fan of a good villain. πŸ™‚ (Getting an early start on a buddy read/review with Barb for July.)

How was your week? What did you get?

Thanks, and the traffic is horrid especially at night cause I am guessing it’s a little cooler and gets dark here around 6pm all the time they don’t do daylight savings so it gets light here about 4:30ish so that was different. I am a homebody too, but I do like to travel but normally it’s not for this long…lol. Also I prefer to travel somewhere I don’t have to have an escort cause you don’t know what might happen!

    • Stormi

Me too, I am so bad with list as a mood reader so this will be challenging for me. I am glad Michelle decided to be nice to us moody ones and allows us to add to our list after we read five…lol.

The Philippines sounds like it’s a fun place but also a bit frustrating at times? The traffic anyway. πŸ™‚ It is always nice to get home after a long trip. Hope your last few days are great.

    I’m looking forward to COYER.

    Shark Island lol.

It’s not a bad place but it’s not home! πŸ™‚ I got to get started on my reading list!

  2. Evelina

Oh, nice, is this a long time treatment for your hair? I can relate to the frizz problem, I happen to have curls myself πŸ˜€ but like… proper curls. Doesn’t even straighten πŸ˜€

The last time I was here and had it done the straightness lasted for a really long time. I use to have really curly hair growing up but it’s relaxed a lot but still frizzy! Bummer on the doesn’t straighten it’s fun to wear a different style now and then. πŸ™‚

    • Stormi

So glad you are joining us for COYER! Thanks, hope my flight back goes quick though I know it won’t lol. That is the part I hate about traveling to far away places.

  3. Michelle @Because Reading

YAY! I can’t wait for you to come back. Even if we do chat everyday but still, it will be nice to have you home on normal time.

I am jealous you read so much while you were away. I need to get my butt moving.
You better make that list soon once COYER starts you can’t fix or add to it. That one host is so mean! πŸ˜‰

Have a great week, Stormi! Safe Trip Home! oxoxo

Yeah, some times it’s hard for me to remember that your sleeping when I am up so being on normal time would be nice. πŸ™‚

I know that host is so mean. I guess if I can get my internet to working I might see what I can put on goodreads at least get started. πŸ™‚

Home sweet home I can’t wait!

  4. sjhigbee

The Phillipines sounds rather like the UK with the traffic – journey times here can easily be trebled if there is an accident or sheer weight of traffic during a busy period. I like the hair very much:). Hope the trip home is uneventful – it’s where the heart is, isn’t it?

At night traffic is really horrid. I so can’t wait to be home, your right it’s where the heart is. πŸ™‚

    • Stormi

Yay, so glad your excited for COYER! I am looking forward to my own bed and my fur babies! Miss them so much!

    • Stormi

Yes, my own bed! Can’t wait…lol. I only have really straight hair when I get it done here never really do it at home. πŸ™‚

    • Stormi

I finished The Darkest Corner and I liked it, it was different and fun, was starting to wonder where to suspense would come in but it finally got there at the end…lol. I am looking forward to the next one cause I like Miller and Elias. πŸ™‚

    • Stormi

First time I came here I was amazed that everyone was just like us, kids had phones and earbuds in the ears jaming. Tons of malls even bigger than the one from home…lol. We always see all the sad poor parts on TV but it’s a pretty happening place. Some really pretty parts.

  5. Kathy @ My Nook, Books & More

You’re hair looks great! It’s good to hear you are having a good time. I know what you mean about the traffic. It is crazy there and the drivers make their own rules. I remember driving in a one way street and a car was coming at us in the opposite direction. Crazy lol! I just finished The Darkest Corner and want to read the next book. I hope you have a safe trip home and a great week!

I’ve already told you but I’ll say it again, your hair looks great. I know you’re glad to be coming home soon and don’t forget to snag some treats for the pups on your way home – I bet they’ve missed you tremendously

About the enabling…I see how you are, blaming me from all the way over there in the Philippines πŸ™‚ I sort of took a mini-computer break this weekend so I’m having to catch up on blogs today and tonight when I can.

    Have a safe trip home!
