That is it I am done with winter!!! This is the second time this winter that we have been in the single digits at night. Two days this week it didn’t get above 20 and I am FREEZING! This bi-polar weather is driving me crazy as next week it’s going to be back up into the 50’s and 60’s. No wonders I can’t get adapted to the cold, bring on spring I am so ready. I think I need to hibernate till spring gets here. 🙁 🙂

Other things going on around here…hmmm, well for some reason I had it in my head that I started my class this week but right before I got ready to go, I thought I better check again. I must have been in a big hurry to try out that graphic design class cause the calendar on the college website says classes start on the 17th….lol. The business end of things went back to work on the 3rd so I had it in my head that is when things started up again…good thing I checked. 🙂

Other than my rantings here nothing has been happening here but a bunch of audio listening! 🙂

What you might have missed on my blog

Books I have added

Netgalley/Edelweiss

So thought I was doing good and then Thursday hit and this happened….lol. 🙂

  • Meddling Kids – The blurb kind of reminds me a mix of Stephen King novels (like It and Sometimes They Come Back) and the Scooby gang as adults…lol. I couldn’t pass it up! #barbmademedoit!
  • Every Trick in the Rook – Marty Wingate has become one of my go-to cozy mystery authors so I had to get book three in her Birds of a Feather mystery series.
  • A Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting – Monster Hunting, now how could I pass that up. 🙂

From publisher

Couple Galley’s from Simon and Schuster, thanks!!

  • The King of Bourbon Street -It got crinkled in delivery. 🙁 At least it’s just a galley. Not my normal romance genre but I am kind of a sucker for a New Orleans background. 🙂
  • Royally Roma – Is kind of a retelling of the movie Roman Holiday and I loved that movie so I was curious. 🙂 It’s with a prince instead of a princess. 🙂

When it comes to this series I always jump at the chance to get in on the blog tour when they email me, even if it means starting it as soon as I got it!! 🙂

Bought

Spent some of my gift card this week. Everything was 2.99 or under. Couldn’t pass up getting my first bookshots as I have been curious about them. 🙂

Freebies

Try as I might I just can’t help but grab some freebies…lol.

Books read last week

  • Finally finished Stalked, and it had a slow start but I enjoyed the ending. I guess every series has that one book. Overall I do like this series and will continue if they come out with more.
  • A Whisker of Trouble – doing my best to catch up on some series and this is a fun cozy mystery series. Not bad for a cat mystery (Hey, I am a dog girl)…lol.
  • Crime on the Fens and Shadow Over the Fens was a great start to a series I just started and now I can’t wait for the next one to come out on audio for review!! I hate waiting…lol. I love  a good British crime series. 🙂
  • Telling Tails – Such a fun addition to the Second Chance Cat mysteries! My second 2017 audio, I am doing good! 🙂

As you can tell I have nothing better to do than listen to audios as I am not in my class and currently unemployed….lol.

Currently reading

  • Dead and Breakfast is off to a good start and my first 2017 eARC.
  • Batgirl at Superhero High -had to put D&B on the back burner for a bit till I get this one done as I agreed to review it on Wednesday and just got it Friday! I didn’t care I wanted this book!!
  • Consumed – Second in another series I am trying to catch up on. I am on a roll! 🙂
  • Moon Called – Been wanting to try this one for a while, listening to it on my phone. (Since it’s going to be warm next week, it’s time to try and get my garden in order for spring. (Old plants out, more dirt put in, mix in fertilizer, etc.)

What might be up next

  • Tag team reviewing Little Heaven with Barb from Booker T’s Farm, so need to get this one done.
  • Two Tall Tails -Really I am only interested in one tail, as I haven’t read the other cat mystery but I will listen to them both. 🙂 This novella audio will catch me all up with Second Chance Mysteries. 🙂
  • Father of Lies – Is a Darkly disturbing occult horror so I am really curious…lol.

How was your week? What did you get?

You have had a good listening week. I think I’m one of the few people who like the cold. I don’t like when its really hot, so I’m completely willing to take the cold. The other reason I prefer cold is the mud is frozen. I don’t like all the mud with my horses when it’s above freezing. In my ideal world, it would stay in the upper 20’s all winter. Enjoy all of your new books. Moon Called is the only one I’m familiar with. I love that series and Lorelei King nails it. Have a great week.

    • Stormi

Eww, that is way to cold for it to stay…lol. I am good if it was in the 60’s all the time. 🙂 Heard a lot of good things about Moon Called so I am excited to get started on it finally! 🙂 I like Lorelei King, she is awesome.

You know I love the winter, just don’t like the cold when I have to go outside and it hurts my face. I could live in the 30s all winter that would make me happy. I think the entire country and getting weird weather on Wednesday, It seems Wednesday doesn’t want to winter like the other days. It always seems to be warm that day.

Have a great week, Stormi! Happy Reading! ox

    • Stormi

Yeah, I am more of a fall/spring kind of gal. 🙂 It does seem like the weather is very weird everywhere.

I’m with you regarding the winter – I HATE being cold and it is so dank and gloooomy right now, I could happily fastforward to June. What a great book haul you have:). I love the look of Meddling Kids and Babysitters Guide to Monster Hunting – I look forward to reading what you make of them. In the meantime, continue to enjoy your reading breaking before you go back to college.

OH YEAH I HEAR YOU STORMI! I am done with winter too!!! I’m drowning in a sea of white here! SNOW EVERYWHERE UGH I guess MO has the same bipolar weather as here in New England. Single digits right now and 60 Friday??!!! That’s nuts! Good luck with that class, if you make it LOL! seems your brain is as crazy as the weather. 😉

I completely agree with you about the winter! I hate it. Fall is my favorite season, and I would love if it was like that everyday! Everything is just so dreary in the winter. Right now it is 10 degrees outside; looks like I am going to be in my house all day! 😀 The King of Bourbon street looks pretty good. I haven’t read anything set in New Orleans for quite a while! And good thing you checked before going back to school; my sister did the same exact thing! 😀

Mr. Barb’s classes start the 9th – wish he had another week. I grabbed Meddling Lids and while I agree that the synopsis sounds great, I was hooked by purple tentacles. How superficial right? Booker T forgives you for the cat love. However, have you noticed cozy mysteries are full of them so they’re kind of hard to avoid. Like you, I’m so done with winter!

We’re reading buddies! I’m loving Dead and Breakfast and am flying through it! Can’t wait to see what you think of it. I really need to read more Marty Wingate. I always love her books but for some reason she gets pushed back to the back of the pile regularly. That’s too funny about the school calendar. Definitely good thing you checked! Hope you love your graphic design class when it does finally start. Have a great week!

The bipolar winter weather is also wearing on my nerves. I dress for the weather, and then they have the heaters on blast at school and will not let us override them despite having 35 bodies producing heat in our classrooms. While the uncharacteristically warm winter didn’t help put me in the Christmas spirit, I did like it. I am ready for the warmth of spring and then the scorch of summer.

Glad you double-checked the calendar before you left! I get things set in my head that way too, and checking has saved me more than once. I am glad you are excited for this graphic design class. Happy reading this week!

  9. Greg

I’m with you on the weather. Now that the holidays are over I’m done with it. Unfortunately the snow doesn’t seem done with us. 🙁

The Monster Hunting looks fun. I might start Moon Called soon too.

We had our first major snow storm of the year this weekend and I’m hating it already. Plus, it’s freezing.

I love Sofie Ryan’s series. They are so good. I want to try James Patterson’s Bookshots. I like the idea of shorter reads and he is one of my favorites. Have a great week!

  11. Deborah

Oh it was a good thing you checked re classes Stormi! I was back at work last week, but it was a short week. This one will be more of a chore, but I can’t complain as I know I won’t be busy (which is part of the problem!!!).

You had a busy week on the blog! My reading was really slow over December and Christmas so I need to step that up again. (Although Netflix is interfering!)

That is crazy weather but we’ve been lucky with consistent cold weather. I can’t wait for spring to come too. I hope you are enjoying Moon Called! I finished book 3 so I still have a lot of catching up in the series. I hope you have a great week and stay warm!

We’re having the same sort of crazy weather. I never know what to wear before leaving the house so I’ve taken to wearing lots of layers. Today it’s zero degrees, tomorrow they’re forecasting 50. It’s nuts. I’m with you on the hibernating ’til it’s over. Enjoy all of your new reads 🙂
