August 14, 2016 Memes 39

BMR,OHMy (1)The Week in Review is where I combine Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post and It’s Monday! What are you reading? ย If you have never joined in on these meme’s you can check them out by clicking on the meme and it will take you to the host blog.

So dad was off fishing and I had the whole house to myself and it was nice…lol. Is it horrible that I was a little bummed they came home early cause their generator quite working and it was too hot without AC? They were supposed to come home Saturday but ended up coming home on Friday afternoon instead.

I did some more canning and as you can see below I listened to a bunch more audiobooks because that is the best thing to do while canning. ๐Ÿ™‚ Though I really think I am about canned out but still have a lot of tomatoes…sighs. ๐Ÿ™ ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh wow, you’re on a roll with reading and listening these days, Stormi!
And I can’t say I fault you for being a bit sad they came home early from their fishing trip. It’s so nice to have the house be empty of people, and just quiet every now and then ๐Ÿ˜€
Do you can tomatoes, too? I love either fresh or dried tomatoes, but I don’t think I’ve tried canned tomatoes ever.
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

Canning has helped on the audios cause at least I can still listen to a book while working in the kitchen. ๐Ÿ™‚ I do have tomatoes and I have canned salsa, diced tomatoes and experimented with canning some roasted tomato and red pepper marinara sauce…lol.

No… I think it’s fair enough if you’ve planned certain activities to find yourself a tad fed up when someone crashes back in unexpectedly… Have you considered making tomato chutney? It’s delicious with sandwiches, cold meat, cheese & salad and will keep for a very long time… It’s a bit more of a fiddle to prepare, but when we used to grow veggies, we used to give jars of our chutney as part of our Christmas presents. You’ve netted yourself a hefty haul of books:)). I’m looking forward to reading your review of Titan’s Curse. Take care and have a great reading week:)

    • Stormi

I haven’t tried making chutney but seen some recipes. I might look it up and see what all it has in it. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Jessica @ a GREAT read

Oooh nice! Lots of new to me reads! Oooh Relic! I know it’s not a new add on, but seeing you read it this week! Can’t wait to read that one! It’s on my wishlist I think…or perhaps my kindle…lol! Seriously cannot remember! Will have to check! I love Gretchen’s thrillers! Hope you enjoy all your lovely new reads!

I do love having a quiet house, which is what I was seeking when I downsized from the big house in the foothills. Now there is not enough room for anyone to stay more than a little while…LOL.

So, no, you were looking forward to a certain amount of quiet time…and it’s only natural to be disappointed.

Enjoy your new books…I see several cozies that look really tempting…and I’m still curious about Liar Liar.

    Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

I loved not having to cook for someone and could just eat light…lol.

I really liked Liar Liar, the whole series is pretty good. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Stormi

Yeah I don’t blame them for coming home but I was a bit bummed…lol. I try to stop getting books really I do. ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Stormi

Yes, they do I have a bunch to tomatoes…lol. The Haunted House Diaries isn’t scary but a little creepy. It’s a Diary of a lady whose family lived in a house that was very haunted. It never hurt them but it was just creepy. Not sure how they could live there…lol. It’s interesting. ๐Ÿ™‚

        • Stormi

Okay so I finished it last night and the first part is the diary, then they talk about things that happen in other houses that are in the surrounding neighborhood and have some trying to link it to a secret military base…lol. Last part is the author trying to explain his take on paranormal stuff and that part was kind of boring…I gave it a 3.5. It was interesting up till the end…lol.

  5. Lark @ The Bookwyrm's Hoard

I completely understand being a little bummed that they came back early. You were looking forward to enjoying some solitude, and you lost some of it. Doesn’t mean you don’t love them, just that you also enjoy your quiet time. ๐Ÿ™‚

Enjoy your new books! I see several that I was tempted by, but I managed to avoid requesting too many books this week. I wish I could say it was willpower that stayed my hand, but in fact, it was panic — I’ve got too many ARCs at the moment as it is.

I would’ve been bummed about the early return, too. Sometimes you just need time and space to yourself. You have been on a reading tear! I wish I could say the same. :/ When my grandpa would do his big garden (and literally recruit all six of his children, their spouses, and grandchildren to harvest) he would give sacks of various veggies to close friends. Perhaps you could do the same with some of your tomatoes?

    • Stormi

Yeah, with the canning I can’t do much but listen to books and sometimes I get finish one in a day as I listen at a faster speed…lol. I have a ton of audios to review so it’s a good thing but I also need to catch up on eARCs too…lol.

I have gave some to my brother and cousins. They just keep growing more and more…lol.

  7. Greg

Send the extra tomatoes this way! Ha ha just kidding I love tomatoes fresh from the garden, and our plants didn’t do so good this year. And no I wouldn’t feel bad ha ha- having a nice quiet house is a good thing.

You got Murder in the Secret Garden! I’m looking forward to that one, and curious about Relic too. Did you like that one?

If I could I would…lol. There is nothing better than fresh tomatoes and they are the only ones I will eat. I hardly ever eat them out of the store.

I hope we both like Murder in the Secret Garden, I am curious to be back there with those characters.

Relic was good, this author does good with YA horror.

  8. Kathy

My mother-in-law lives with us so don’t feel bad when their trips get cut short. It’s happened to me and I feel bad but it is nice to have the house to yourself lol. You got a lot of reading/listening done and The Woman in Cabin 10 is on my TBR. I hope you have a great week and enjoy all your new books.

I hope you enjoy The Woman in Cabin 10, I thought it was okay but wasn’t wowed by it like most people seem to be. ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. Kristen @ Metaphors and Moonlight

That Spring Heeled Jack book caught my attention on Netgalley. It just looks so mysterious and interesting! I didn’t request though as it’s just not my genre. It looks like you got lots of nice books this week though! And it’s great having the house to yourself sometimes, so don’t feel bad ๐Ÿ˜›

Good luck finishing your canning, and have a great week!

Sounds like you got a lot done with your dad being out of town! No, I don’t think it’s awful that you’re sad they came back early. Sometimes you just need that alone time! You’ve been reading a lot! Summer is a great time for reading.

  11. A Voracious Reader

I’m so jelly! I wish we had stuff to can. Our garden was a major flop this year. We have got to cut some trees down and see if that helps next year.

And no, it’s not horrible that you were a little bummed about the early return. It’s nice to have the place to yourself occasionally. It’s good for everyone. But bummer about the generator. It’s definitely been too hot for a lot of things this year. Stupid weather.
