It’s the season of second chances in this heartwarming, contemporary holiday romance where two single parents find each other—and another chance at love—in the most unexpected of places!
’Tis the night before Christmas…and businessman and single father Jason is scrambling to find the dollhouse of the season for his seven-year-old daughter Emily. But when he finally strikes gold at an obscure toy store, he’s met with resistance—literally, as a beautiful woman named Leah is grabbing onto the dollhouse box from the other side of the aisle, determined to get the same Christmas present for her own daughter.

Desperate not to let the other win, Jason and Leah forge a pact: stay together until they find the same dollhouse at a different toy store. It sounds simple, but ten stores and many hours later, they still come up empty. They might not be finding another dollhouse, but they sure are finding a lot to talk about and, as their mutual...

Short and SweetThe Perfect Gift is the perfect holiday short read! I haven’t ever read this author before but I could see myself reading some other books by her. I am normally not a contemporary romance reader but some times a book comes along and it’s super sweet and just hits the spot.

What I thought of this book

This is about two single parents, Jason who has little girl is frantically out searching for a dollhouse that she wanted. It was the only thing she really wanted and he was to busy to grab one earlier. Leah has a little girl as well and she desperately needs to get her hands on the same dollhouse.

They both arrive at the same little toy store and they both have their hands on the last dollhouse in the store. After few minutes and the fact that the store was closing they make a deal with each other. They will both pay for half of the dollhouse and then help each other find another one.

Spending the day together they are really drawn to each other and have a lot in common, especially when it comes to their girls.

Normally I am not really all that into instant attraction but it really works with this one because they are really bonding over their children. They both have a girl that is about the same age and are into the same things. Because of this I think it was really easy to see them together.

I really enjoyed this short and sweet romance and if you like contemporary romance I believe you will enjoy it too!

I’m about to read a novella too that is Christmas oriented. It is hard not to have ‘insta love’ in a novella, I guess to some extent given the size of the story the reader just needs to ‘go with it’. This sounds like a good read of this format.
