Mila Flores and her best friend Riley have always been inseparable. There's not much excitement in their small town of Cross Creek, so Mila and Riley make their own fun, devoting most of their time to Riley's favorite activity: amateur witchcraft.
So when Riley and two Fairmont Academy mean girls die under suspicious circumstances, Mila refuses to believe everyone's explanation that her BFF was involved in a suicide pact. Instead, armed with a tube of lip gloss and an ancient grimoire, Mila does the unthinkable to uncover the truth: she brings the girls back to life.
Unfortunately, Riley, June, and Dayton have no recollection of their murders, but they do have unfinished business to attend to. Now, with only seven days until the spell wears off and the girls return to their graves, Mila must wrangle the distracted group of undead teens and work fast to discover their murderer...before the killer strikes again.

Here is what I thought

Seen this one all over the place and everyone seemed to be liking it, then Barb said I would like it so I decided to grab it from the library. Well, I liked it! 🙂

Mila is missing her best friend who the police say has committed suicide, but she just don’t believe them. A week before her death two of the mean girls hung themselves and Riley seemed fine at their funeral so how could she just go off and killer herself. Riley and her were practicing Wiccans but what Mila wants to do when she finds an old spell book isn’t considered a Wicca practice, and the lady she gets things from tells her not to try it.

Mila doesn’t listen and performs the spell on her friends grave. It’s suppose to bring her back for 7 days so that she can figure out what happened to her. Only it backfires and also brings back the two mean girls! So now she has three dead girls that she has risen from their graves and none of them can remember what happened to them, but June and Dayton swear they would not have committed suicide.

So Mila along with Riley, June and Dayton have 7 days to try and figure out what happened to them before the dead have to go back into the ground. One of the bad things is that if Mila is 100 feet from the dead girls they turn into looking like the dead and it’s not pretty. So she hides them in an old house that Mila and Riley use to use for spell practicing.

I really enjoyed this and so didn’t figure out the killer though in hindsight I should have figured it out. I really liked Mila flaws and all. June and Dayton were pretty fun for mean girls, but then when you dead you get to reflect on your mean girl ways.

It was a very fun and entertaining read and would recommend it to anyone who likes YA books as well as mysteries.

Ooh nice! I was debating about this one! It sounds rather cute, yet fun because zombies (sort of) and a murder mystery (totally)! Lol! Glad to see you enjoyed it! Will have to try to pick this one up at some point…wish I could read faster and not have this issue! Nice review!
