He's more than her protector…

Being a cop in a small Georgia town is a pretty peaceful job, and one that Boone Braddock takes pride in. Babysitting the governor's daughter, however, isn't Boone's idea of police duty. Especially when it's Susannah Rhodes, who has an impulsive streak a mile wide.

Boone was Susannah's crush in high school. He's still unmistakably handsome. Worse yet, it's impossible to keep anything from him—like the real reason she's returned home. And it's more impossible still to keep her distance. Because a long time ago, the two had shared something special. Something that was never finished….

This was my first book by this author but it won’t be my last as I really enjoyed This Hero For Hire. It was a sweet and clean read which was actually surprising because normally when I pick up a romance there is a bit of steam that rises up off the cover..lol. Not that I don’t mind clean reads by any means I do some times it’s really nice, but it doesn’t happen to often so I wasn’t expecting it.

My Thoughts

Boone Braddock is a cop, but he is also a cowboy. He grew up on a his grandfathers farm and now that he is grown he takes care of the farm. His brother doesn’t have as great of fondness for the farm as Boone.  Boone likes being a small town cop and was not real happy when the Governor requested that he be his daughters body guard.  Boone doesn’t have many memories of Suzanne but he does have one, the one where she brought him in the gym equipment room and kissed him then just walked out. It wasn’t long after that that her father put her in boarding school, but it’s a day he never forgot.

Suzanne is a vegan eating environmentalist of sorts and has a different way of going about getting her points across. The first time Boone runs into her again before his new assignment starts he is arresting her for letting chickens out of their cages. She also doesn’t believe she needs a body guard but doesn’t mind to much that it’s Boone.  Her father is running for Governor again and she is going to work on his campaign and while doing so her father wants her safe. Suzanne has an ulterior motive for wanting to come and help with the campaign as it seems she has been corresponding with Boone’s Grandfather about a piece of his land she wants to buy. Suzanne is trying to teach others about organic farming and that patch of land will be perfect, then she learns that Jared, Boone’s brother might have different plans for it.

The more that Boone and Suzanne are together the closer they get and the danger that Suzanne ends up in has nothing to do with the Governor but with someone she had once trusted.

Boone is a very sweet man who takes his responsibilities seriously whether it’s in his work or his family. There are times when he feels torn between wanting to help Suzanne and her organic farming and Jared and his big ideas on what to do with the farm. I have a soft spot for cowboys and cops so a cowboy who is also a cop is one sexy combination!

Suzanne is a spitfire and she has been since she was a teenager. She has also had a crush on Boone since high school, she didn’t just kiss him for the fun of it but she was a little disappointed in the outcome. Thankfully her second chance at that kiss goes a little bit better this time around. Suzanne definitely gave me a chuckle or two and I liked her attitude.

Over all, I really enjoyed this one. I am not a huge contemporary romance reader but when I do you can bet there will be a cowboy in most of them. 🙂 It was a fun quick read and as I stated above it was a clean read, I think it really only had like two or three kisses and no sex. So if you like your a bit steamier this one might not be for you, but if you like them clean you should pick this one up.
