Book 1: One Week to Claim It All

Here is what I thought

Esmeralda finds out after her father dies that he has left her the CEO position in his television empire. The only thing is is he never recognized her as his daughter because she wasn’t from the woman he married. Esmeralda has worked hard in college and after to prove to her father and herself she had what it takes to make it in the media industry without his help.

Now she has a discussion to make of whether she wants to ignore the will or take her spot as CEO of her fathers company. She isn’t really sure why he decided to give it to her instead of one of kids from his wife. She knows that her fathers protégé, Rodrigo, was wanting the position. Because he wanted it was a little bit of the reason why she decided to accept it, because Rodrigo was her ex-boyfriend and she was still mad at him because of how he broke up with her and wants a bit of revenge.

Taking over as CEO isn’t as easy as she hoped it would be because the board of directors have a stipulation before they let her take over. She has to prove that she has what it’s takes to be CEO of a Sambrano Studios and she has one week to come up with a suitable plan moving forward. If she can’t then they will turn it over to Rodrigo.

She doesn’t have to just compete against Rodrigo, but deal with her fathers wife who is wholeheartedly against having her husband’s illegitimate child take away from what belongs to her and her two kids. To make matters worse if she wants to know anything about the company she has to go through Rodrigo. So of course this means they will be spending a lot of time together.

Spending time together rekindles all the sparks from before but can Esmeralda trust Rodrigo after what he done in the past? Rodrigo has never quit loving Esmeralda and she doesn’t know what the real reason for the break up was and he doesn’t want her to know.

To be honest I wasn’t sure if I would care for an office romance. I am not huge fan of contemporary romances unless they are suspense, intrigue or involve cowboys. 🙂 I really enjoyed this story though so maybe I like contemporary more than I think…lol.

I really liked both Esmeralda and Rodrigo. They had great chemistry. Esmeralda was a spitfire who wasn’t going to back down once she decided on taking the job and Rodrigo was just as determined. It made for some great steamy moments and fun banter. I loved how sometimes they forgot that they were suppose to be fighting each other for a job and then would remember and get mad at each other again.

I think if you like romances then you will enjoy this one.
