No matter how much the paranormal politics of Atlanta change, one thing always remains the same: if there’s trouble, Kate Daniels will be in the middle of it…
As the mate of the Beast Lord, Curran, former mercenary Kate Daniels has more responsibilities than it seems possible to juggle. Not only is she still struggling to keep her investigative business afloat, she must now deal with the affairs of the pack, including preparing her people for attack from Roland, a cruel ancient being with god-like powers. Since Kate’s connection to Roland has come out into the open, no one is safe—especially those closest to Kate.
As Roland’s long shadow looms ever nearer, Kate is called to attend the Conclave, a gathering of the leaders from the various supernatural factions in Atlanta. When one of the Masters of the Dead is found murdered there, apparently at the hands of a shapeshifter, Kate is given only twenty-four hours to hunt down the killer. And this time, if she fails, she’ll find herself embroiled in a war which could destroy everything she holds dear…
I can’t believe we have made it to #7 of the Kate Daniel series. Once you read my review please go check out Barb’s and see if she liked it more than me or if were where about the same. 🙂
Here is what I thought
So I am going to be short with this because it is book seven and I don’t want to spoil anything to much.
In this one Curran is busy with some things dealing with other packs because of some important stuff acquired in the previous book. He has to leave and it buts Kate in charge of the pack.
And of course, Kate is going to have to deal with the conclave, it’s what they call the meeting between the Pack and the People. The People are the Masters of the Dead who control vampires. It’s the only way they can sort of keep the piece between the two different paranormal sections.
Something goes horribly wrong and the Pack is accused of killing a Master of the Dead and only have a certain amount of time to figure out what happened before their is a war between the Pack and the People. Curran is not around so it’s up to Kate to figure it all out and how to handle things so that she, a human, doesn’t look weak to the Pack.
I MISSED CURRAN!!! He comes back into the book later but it’s just not the same when he isn’t in the whole book. 🙂 I can never have to much Curran! Kate did a great job on her own, but she could have used Curran’s help which she does get towards the end. Trying to think if there was any stand out characters but can’t think of any, though it was interesting to learn a bit about Ghastek.
Because of some things that happened at the end of this book I am really curious to get to book 8 and find out how things are going to go! I really recommend this series!
