Mercenary Kate Daniels knows all too well that magic in post-Shift Atlanta is a dangerous business. But nothing she’s faced could have prepared her for this…
Kate and the former Beast Lord Curran Lennart are finally making their relationship official. But there are some steep obstacles standing in the way of their walk to the altar…
Kate’s father, Roland, has kidnapped the demigod Saiman and is slowly bleeding him dry in his never-ending bid for power. A Witch Oracle has predicted that if Kate marries the man she loves, Atlanta will burn and she will lose him forever. And the only person Kate can ask for help is long dead.
The odds are impossible. The future is grim. But Kate Daniels has never been one to play by the rules…

I can’t believe Barb and I are on book nine of the Kate Daniel series! We are rockin this series! 🙂 After you check out my review go check out hers!

Here is what I thought

The ninth book in the Kate Daniels series was chalked full of action and had me on the edge of my seats so to speak as I was so worried about some of my favorite characters!

So I can’t really say a lot about what happens because it would be spoilers since this is the second to the last book in the series. It was a wild ride though!

  • Kate has been shown the future with two different tracks, neither are good. She decides to change things.
  • We find out who Christopher really is and let just say he is pretty awesome! I am glad we know now as I have been curious about him since she rescued him.
  • Kate really ticks off her father who is a real ass and I want him to die! He didn’t take her disobedience very well.
  • Kate has to come to terms with her magic and not become her father.
  • Big battle!

That is the highlights without saying to much and just trust me it was pretty cool and I really can’t wait to see how it ends but at the same time I don’t want it to end. We were told we should read the first Hugh book before the last one so we might do that even if it pushes #10 back to January.

I love all the characters  in this series (well besides Roland her father or Hugh) and I am so afraid they are going to die in the last one so I will be a nervous wreck reading that one! I think Kate and Curran are now probably my favorite couple of all time!

If you haven’t read this series and love Urban Fantasy with lots of action then don’t wait any longer! The whole series is out so you can binge like we have! 🙂

Wow, Kate and Curran are dethroning Matthew and Diana? I find that hard to believe. However they are pretty awesome and you know I have love furry creatures so I would agree. Love how you hit the highlights.

I know but I have always liked furry over vamps…lol. Matthew and Diana are probably second favorite (though could tie with Veronica and Stoker…lol). Bullet Points was the only way I could figure out how to hit things and not spoil…lol. 🙂

I think you would like it! Most people say book one isn’t the best but I really enjoyed it about as much as the rest of them.

Hope you enjoy it when you try it! Some say book one is the weakest in the series but I enjoyed it just as much as the others. 🙂

I think I started reading this series when about half the books were published. Binging the whole series as you and Barb have would have been a great way to experience the series. I didn’t read the Hugh book until after book 10 and I thought it worked fine. They are both great books so you don’t want to miss either of them though.

So nothing major happened in the Hugh book that we might should know? Hmm, wonder why it says to read it first (on the timeline…lol). Good to know we can skip and go to ten if we choose too! 🙂

The Hugh book does chronologically come before book 10. I guess if you are planning to read both anyway, then it would be best to stick with reading chronologically. I had a really early review copy of book 10 which I, of course, read right away but had to wait to read the Hugh book until its release. It worked for me reading them in that order but there are some appearances that happen in each book.

Totally get that if I had had an early copy I would have read it right away too…lol. 🙂
