Liam "Fortune" Jones knows exactly who and what he is: the son of Deke Jones, born and bred in Horseback Hollow. He is an old-fashioned cowboy, committed to tradition and used to getting his own way. And he won't change for anyone—not even for the sassy aspiring chef who's been tormenting his dreams….

Julia Tierney holds the distinction of being the only woman who ever turned Liam down. She's an independent lady with dreams way bigger than their rustic hometown. Every time she runs into that bullheaded rancher, they bicker. The man makes her nuts! But there's something about Liam that keeps roping her in and making her come back for more….

I am a little late in getting into the series surrounding the Fortune. I have noticed after reading my first Fortune novel a few months back that there are a lot of different branches of Fortunes. This series is about the Fortunes of Horseback Hollow and I am really enjoying it.

Liam’s family has been turned upside down a bit with his mother recently finding out that she is part of the Fortune family. The Fortunes are a really wealthy family and Liam wants nothing to do with their high and lofty kind. His mother wants him and his brothers to and Fortune to their names in recognition of the fact that they are a part of that family and most of his family has done it but Liam won’t budge.

Liam is sort of an old fashioned cowboy and the thinks anything that has to do with change is a bad thing. Julia Tierney, is trying to change Horseback Hollow as she wants to bring a new restaurant to town. Not just any restaurant but one backed by a Fortune. This doesn’t set well with Liam and he is ready to do just about anything to make sure it doesn’t happen.

Julia is the only girl in High School that never succumbed to Liam’s charms. She won’t say that she didn’t think he was good looking cause he was and he is still today. There is just something about him that rubs her the wrong way and they always end up fighting. She put her life on hold to help her parents out and now she has a chance to become a chef if this new restaurant comes to town and she thinks it will be a good thing for Horseback Hollow’s economy.

Each time Liam and Julia are together their arguments always seem to end in a kiss. It gives Liam the idea that maybe he can seduce Julia and use his charm to change her mind about the restaurant but what happens is that it changes him forever.

Lassoed by Fortune is a quick light read about two very stubborn people and when they clash sparks fly. Liam is this sexy brooding cowboy that is a bit old fashioned but he can cook. Julia, takes care of her family but she also has dreams and she isn’t about to let anyone stand in her way and I like that about her. I also like the way she takes things into consideration with the name of the restaurant at the end to make it more of a Horseback Hollow sounding name.  I really enjoyed both of these characters.

If you love romances with based around cowboys then you will like this contemporary romance. (I must admit my favorite type of contemporary romances are cowboy oriented.)
