#1 New York Times bestseller Maggie Stiefvater continues the adventure in Book 2 of this enthralling multiplatform series.

In the world of Erdas, only a rare few are able to summon a spirit animal in the way Conor, Abeke, Meilin, and Rollan have. The bond they share with their animals is a partnership that allows them to access more-than-human abilities.

But what if there was another way to create a spirit animal--to force the bond, giving the human partner total control? And what if someone with selfish intensions was offered this gift . . . with a catch?

The four young heroes have barely had time to come together as a team, and their own spirit animal bonds are still greatly untested. But now they face a brutal confrontation against an enemy who will break any rule to defeat them.

Spirit Animals is a great action adventure series for young readers and it continues on with Hunted. I was a little leery of reading a series that each book is written by different authors but so far that hasn’t hindered anything.

Our four heroes don’t have a lot of time to lounge around after their success from the first book. They are training hard to be prepared for the next mission and it comes quickly. They have located another great beast, Rumfuss, the boar. This time they are taking an extra person with them as a guide. Finn is from the north and use to be a greencloak warrior, but after the last fight he was in he almost didn’t make it out alive. After that his spirit animal went into passive state and never came out again. He won’t be a benefit to the young warriors as a fighter but he will be able to guide them through there mission.

Along the way they are attacked and seperated. Tarif is with Connor and Rollan, but he has been bit by a adder snake spirit animal and very weak. Finn is with Meilin and Abeke. Tarif, Connor and Rollan arrive at a safehaven where the two young men must leave Tarif and go off on their own. Connor wants to visit the place where he use to work as a servent to Devin since it’s on the way because his mother is there now. When they go there they find out that it is not like it use to be.

The conquerors have taken over and are using Devin, the earls son who didn’t get a spirit animal. The conquerors have their own brand of nectar that they call, bile.  This stuff is different from nectar because you can pick what animal you want to bond with and you have more control over it. Rollan and Connor run into some problems here and Finn, Meilin and Abeke catch up to them here and help them.

Many adventures await the young heroes on their way to find Rumfuss and the end of this book leaves you with a little bit of a cliffhanger as we see two of the young heroes having to make tough decisions that will affect everyone.

I really enjoyed Hunted, there was a little repetition at the beginning to remind you what happened in the last book, but it wasn’t to bad. It just made the beginning go a little slower, but after that it picks up and has a nice pace to it. I think if you have young readers that they will really enjoy this book. I can’t wait to start reading SA #3: Blood Ties to see what is in store next for the young heroes. One thing that makes this series a little different is the fact that your kids can go online and pick their own spirit animal and play games, etc.
