Elle Reagan isn't about to stand by and let a con-artist get away with stealing her grandmother’s life savings. While the legal system moves at a snail's pace, Elle promises to bring him to justice. She follows him to a ski resort in Colorado, where she hopes to get the evidence needed to put him away for good. But she didn't count on her roommate being a distraction, because he wasn't supposed to be her brother’s best friend.

Detective Logan Ford has denied his desire to take Elle into his arms since they were teenagers, but when his partner asks him to follow her to Castle Alainn to keep her out of trouble, Logan finds himself unable to refuse her. He agrees to help catch a thief instead of convincing her to pack her bags and go home. To make matters worse, he can’t seem to remember why he should keep his distance from the delectable, infuriating, independent Elle.

Elle and Logan surrender to their attraction, but as their passion ignites, her plot is discovered. A killer will do whatever it takes to silence her and destroy a love that was destined to last a lifetime

First Line

Elle Reagan’s heart pounded against her rib cage, pushing blood through her veins at record speeds.

What I thought of this book

Elle is bound and determined to prove that Brandon Ethridge conned her grandmother. She follows him to a ski resort to do some snooping. What she didn’t know is that her brother sent his best friend Logan to keep an eye on her and make sure she doesn’t get into any trouble.

Elle is not happy when she finds Logan there although a part of her is happy to see him. She has always been in love with him, but he has never showed any signs of liking her. She refused to go home and once she tells Logan all she knows and gets some info on Ethridge, Logan agrees to help her. Elle is a great spunky character but it can get her into a lot of trouble.

Logan knows being here with her is not going to go well. The bro code says hands off and his friend has always made it clear that he needs to leave Elle alone, but he has been in love with her for a long time. He wants to keep her safe, but he has his hands full. Logan is a sexy cop trying to keep Elle from getting hurt and wondering how to break things to his best friend and I really like him.

Flirting with Fate is a sexy novella and one of the reasons it works is that the two MC’s have secretly been pining for each other and so when they are put into close proximity with each other, sparks fly. For me it’s easier to see a quick romance and fall into bed happen when they already like each other.

I really enjoyed Flirting with Fate and if you like sexy, fun reads with great characters then you will like this one. It’s part of a series but they can all be read as a stand alone.

  1. Are they all novellas? The cover kind of makes her look like an older (but less than forty) woman with maybe a younger man, but the review doesn’t sound like it. I love a spunky main character. Glad you enjoyed!
