Sebastian “Seb” McAlister has run out of luck in Vegas. Cornered by a trigger-happy gang and shot through the stomach, he makes a desperate escape in his supercharged Hellcat. Fate guides Seb safely out of Sin City and into the desert, but as his wheels fade into the horizon, he fades into darkness.
He awakes among a tiny community in the middle of nowhere. A mountain range circles the hodgepodge of shacks like prison walls looming high. And the warden that resides in those mountains is big, ugly, and deadly—a creature straight out of a Lovecraftian nightmare.
If Seb hopes to escape that wayward way station, he’ll need enough cunning to outwit a force beyond comprehension… and a fast car. With a little luck and a ragtag group of would-be monster mashers racing alongside him, Seb just might have a shot of making it through the mountains alive.
Barb and I are busy buddy reading this month! This is just one of a few we have going on this month, don’t ask me why we picked the shortest month for that…lol. Anyway, I am sure Barb enjoyed this one more than I did so after you check out my review go on over and see what she thought of it at Booker T’s Farm!
Here is what I thought
This was my first book by this author and it was a really short one and I am still trying to really figure out what I think about it as I am writing this.
This is going to be a short review because of the length of the novella and I don’t want to spoil anything.
It’s about a criminal named Seb who ends up in a shootout at a black market deal gone wrong. His partner is shot and he verily makes it out as he has been shot himself. He gets in his really fancy Charger and hits the gas and leaves his fate to an eight ball that you ask questions too but it’s an actual eyeball. Yeah, gross huh?
He has loss a lot of blood so he blacks out and when he wakes up he is in some sort of place and finds out that getting out of that place might be a bit harder than getting in.
For a small book it really seem to take me a long time to get through it! It got more interesting after about half way through it and then the ending to a turn I wasn’t a huge fan of so I am really on the fence overall about this book.
Can’t say I was a huge fan of any of the characters, so I felt no loss when anyone died and really wasn’t even rooting much for Seb. The tentacle monster thing was pretty cool though! There are so many thing left unanswered which is why I feel very confused about what I read. The end shows a THE END? which leads me to believe there could be another one but not sure if I care enough to see what might happen next. I do love the cover and the high speed car action towards the end. 🙂
