I pinch the screen to zoom until I’m staring at the face of a ghost. A man with very short hair, staring directly at the camera with piercing brown eyes.
He is as he was when I last saw him: wrinkles around the corners of the eyes and a knowing smirk. That’s the expression I see when I can’t sleep.
My body tenses. It can’t be him. It’s not my ex-husband. It’s not David.
I know that better than anyone because he didn’t walk out on me.
He didn’t disappear two years ago and he’s not a missing person.
I know that for a fact because I’m the one who killed him.
A brilliantly twisty thriller which will have fans of The Girl on the Train and Gone Girl absolutely gripped.

Here is what I thought

Close to You is told in two timelines. There is The Now and then The Why which is from three years and eight or nine months ago.

It starts out in The Now and Morgan wins an award for being a fitness trainer and while at the party afterward her friend shows her a picture. In the picture Morgan sees a person that looks a lot like her ex-husband, but she knows it can’t be true because he is dead, she killed him.

Then she starts getting some weird text messages, etc. which has her half convinced that maybe he is alive or maybe someone is just trying to mess with her but who? Could it be his sister? Did he have a brother? Is she just losing her mind?

In The Why we learn about how she met David and the sequences that leads up to when things go downhill with her husband.  David wasn’t the best of husbands, he was a pit of a moocher. He lied all the time, Morgan never knew if he was telling the truth.

I really wasn’t sure how this was going to end but I was waiting for the twist and boy I didn’t see that one coming! Totally blindsided me which I enjoyed because it’s always a bit of a let down when I guess it right…lol.

I can’t say that I was a huge fan of Morgan, I think she should have figured out that David wasn’t what he seemed before she even married him. Once I found out why the things was happening to her I disliked her even more. I don’t think you have to really like her to want to know what is going on and enjoy the story as it plays out.

I have read another book by this author and so I was pretty sure I would enjoy this and I did. It was a little slow to start off though part of that I think was my mood. Once things get going though I was really wrapped up in wanting to know what was going on and who was behind everything.

I would recommend this for anyone who enjoys a good psychological thriller.
