There's nowhere better to spend the holidays than with New York Timesbestselling author Susan Mallery in the town of Fool's Gold, where love is always waiting to be unwrapped...ย Noelle Perkins just got a second chance at life, and she intends to make the most of every minute. That's why she ditched a frustrating legal career to open her own store in Fool's Gold, California. The Christmas Attic celebrates everything that's magical about her favorite season. Business is booming, and as a bonus, gorgeous army doctor Gabriel Boylan has offered to help out during the holiday rush.

Gabriel's memories of Christmas past contain more sour grapes than sugar plums, thanks to a drill sergeant father who ran his home like a boot camp. Spending the holidays with his family while he recuperates from injury sounds as appetizing as last year's eggnog. Still, there are some enjoyable distractions in town, including sunny, sexy Noelle...and the red-hot mistletoe kisses they can't stop sharing.

Gabriel didn't think he was made for happily-ever-afters. But when fate hands you a love as sweet and surprising as this, only a fool could refuse....

I felt a bit like I was just passing through Fool’s Gold by reading this one as I haven’t read this series and I really hate not starting at the beginning. There were a great many characters in this book that I would like to get to know so now I am going to have to go back and start with #1. ๐Ÿ™‚

My thoughts on this book

Christmas on 4th Street is filled with that sweet gooey goodness that Christmas romance reads bring. Even though this is my first trip to Fool’s Gold I still felt very much at home with all the characters. It only made me want to explore the town and it’s unique and quirky towns members so I can get their stories.

In this one we have Noelle who is pretty new to Fool’s Gold, she has recently lost her mother and Grandmother in an auto accident and battled a sickness but it has only made her stronger. She came to Fool’s Gold on a whim, she stuck a pin in a map and found her place. I secretly think that Fool’s Gold finds you not the other way around. Noelle use to be a lawyer but now she is the owner of The Christmas Attic a fun and whimsical store that will suit your Christmas needs.

Gabriel is an army doctor with is own set of wounds. He might not have seen the combat his brother Gideon did but it was still hard on him to see all those wounded soldiers. He has experience loss that has made him decide that love was not an option. He is not looking forward to a visit with family as he has never gotten along with his father, but because of an accident he has the time off.

Noelle and Gabriel get along great right from the beginning and when she needs help in her store he decides to apply. The more they get to know each other the more it makes Gabriel think, but he is still sure he wants to leave after Christmas. The mayor is quiet the matchmaker as she puts suggestions out there to Gabriel about the new hospital they are building and then sends Noelle and him out to a place up the mountains to find the perfect Christmas tree that results in them getting stranded in the cabin.

Noelle is a lot of fun, she is very caring and perky. She loves her new job and the new town she is settling into. She has made a lot of friends and embraced all things Fool’s Gold. I could easily see her as a friend. Gabriel is handsome and brooding, but also caring. The way he helps rescue the mother cats and their kittens that were out in the snow, I mean would couldn’t help fall for that type of man…sighs.

Overall I really enjoyed my pass through Fool’s Gold and I can’t wait to go back and get the back stories on all those I met during my short jaunt through Fool’s Gold. I can see my TBR pile growing as I write this since this is #12.5 of the series..lol. ย So if your in the mood for a Holiday read and like contemporary romance novels then I think this is a great one to read! Even if it’s way down on the list in the series I never really felt confused, I only felt like.. I really need to read and get to know these characters more.

From your review it sounds like this book really hit the spot! That’s both a good thing & a bad one in that you now have to add the twelve previous installments to your TBR pile. Hehe! You’d better get cracking. ๐Ÿ˜€

One of my close friends, reads these books-I think. I haven’t tried one yet, but I have been known to fall in love with small town books! 12 books is kind of daunting though ๐Ÿ™‚
