Hannah Swensen already has her hands full, between dodging her mother's attempts to marry her off, and running Lake Eden, Minnesota's most popular bakery, The Cookie Jar. But when the Cozy Cow Dairy's beloved deliveryman is found murdered behind Hannah's bakery with her famous Chocolate Chip Crunchies scattered around him, Hannah sets out to track down a killer. The more Hannah snoops, the more suspects turn up. This is one murder that's starting to leave a very bad taste in Hannah's mouth, and if she doesn't watch her back, her sweet life may get burned to a crisp.

What I thought of this book

I decided to try this series after watching Murder She Baked on the Hallmark channel and just like most book to movies there is a lot of differences in the two. Even with the differences I liked the book as well as I like the shows.

Hannah owns The Cookie Jar and bakes a lot of great cookies but when her friend Ron is murdered she takes up a bit of sleuthing. Her brother-in-law is a cop and he is trying to become a detective and this murder as horrible as it is, could be his ticket to becoming a detective.

So Hannah doesn’t mind helping him further his career especially if it helps her find out who killed her friend. There are several leads but the biggest one is that he must have seen something he shouldn’t have, but who or what?

Besides all sleuthing she has to deal with her mother trying to set her up with the new dentist, then the new detective Mike comes to town. A new guy gives her mother someone new to try and set Hannah up with, but maybe Hannah might now mind as he is quite handsome.

I like Hannah, she is fine living alone with her cat and she loves making new cookie recipes. (Wish I liked baking more cause there are recipes in this book!!) She is so different from her sisters and pretty much the oddball in her family.

It has a great  cast of characters that I can’t wait to read more about and I am partial to Mike cause of the movies and who plays him…lol. I enjoyed the mystery and can’t wait to see what other kind of trouble she can get into and already have the next book lined up to read. 🙂

If you like cozies then I think you will enjoy this series.
