There’s a new witch-hunt in Salem, Massachusetts . . .
When Lee Barrett joins a former student’s bridal party as maid of honor, she expects cake tastings and dress fittings. But wedding planning becomes more peculiar than Lee’s scrying talents could ever predict. There’s a magical baker, a best man with a checkered past, and a talking crow named Poe as the ring bearer. There’s also a kindly old man dead under his apple tree—one of a series of unexplained deaths hanging over the Wiccan community . . .
With witches dropping dead before they even come out of the proverbial broom closet, Lee’s best friend, River, fears she might have somehow unleashed a terrible curse on the city. Now, aided by Poe and her clairvoyant cat, Lee sets out to investigate. Are lives being claimed by vengeful supernatural forces—or by something more shocking? She soon discovers, casting light on the wicked truth can be one killer commitment . . .

My review of this months pick

Lee’s life is pretty busy as she agreed to be in a former student’s wedding and that in itself is strange and even has a talking crow that is the ring bearer. Then witches start dying and her friend River who is a practicing witch thinks that it could be her fault because she was having bad thoughts about them before they died. Then Lee gets some weird visions through her ability to scry and she has to deal with this plus she just got a new job working for her old stopping grounds as an investigative reporter.

When bad things keep happening she tries to help solve the case even when her boyfriend would rather have her not doing so, but he knows that she has the abilities to help them out with her visions. He is not a huge fan of the supernatural but he knows better than to dismiss thins when she sees them and helps her try and figure out what they mean.

I thought this one was a lot of fun and interesting since it dealt with the death of witches and had a bit more of the supernatural happening than most of the other books in this series. It’s always had witches but not as much supernatural hoopla I guess. This one has a spooky witches book, a talking crow, a mysterious cat and more!

I have always enjoyed Lee’s character and her relationship with Pete. I love her aunt and her friend River so it just has a fun cast of characters. The mystery was pretty good too because I didn’t figure it out…lol.

If you like cozies with a bit of supernatural in it then you would enjoy this series.

  1. I am loving this series more and more as I read it! I did enjoy the more supernatural witchy elements in this one. The next one is a bit more normal for the series but still good. I’m 3 books from being caught up!
