About the Movie: Hannah Rhodes (Campbell) is faced with the biggest decision of her life when she loses her father, Gentry Rhodes (Perry). After Gentry suffers an apparent heart-attack, the Rhodes family is left to pick up the pieces and continue running the horse ranch Gentry had worked his entire life to build. Meanwhile, a local resident claims Gentry owes him thousands of dollars which the family does not have. Hannah and her family quickly become overwhelmed with the financial crisis that is upon them and unsure how they will pay off the debt without having to sell the ranch. She must find the strength to face her fears and compete in the race of her life or her family will lose everything.

My thoughts:

Race to Win is a moving story about a young girl who seems to have the weight of the world on her shoulders when her father dies suddenly leaving them with a large debt. She has to face some obstacles and learn to have a bit of faith in herself.

Darden is a shrewd business man and Gentry went to him to help keep their large piece of land going but once he died Darden wants 150,000 in thirty days or he takes the land. Hannah comes up with the idea to do barrel race to get most of the money. Meanwhile, Rudy won’t talk to anyone after seeing his father right after he dies and his spirit tells him there is something he wants him to do but to not tell anyone about it.

I really enjoyed Race to Win, and I thought it was put together really well. I did think that the mother putting a lot of pressure on her daughter to help come up with some of the money, but in the end, she did realize this so I felt better about it. I liked how the spirit of Gentry would come in and encourage all of them from time to time and remind them of how much he loved them.

Confession time, I must admit that even though Luke Perry wasn’t in this a lot I really liked his rugged cowboy looks!! 🙂

Overall, it was just a very touching movie that is great for the whole family.

Really excited for this movie. Was a huge fan of Danielle Campbell on ‘The Originals’ and the story looks like a positive one. – Jason Borges @jasonwvb on Twitter

  3. Beverly Hills 90210 was one of my favorite shows…I often wonder what everyone is doing now. Just from the cover, Luke Perry looks much older than I remember. I didn’t recognize him at first glance.
