Apples are at the core of the family business run by Winona Mae Montgomery and her Granny Smythe. But this year's crop is unseasonably ripe with murder . . .
ONE ROTTEN APPLE Blossom Valley, West Virginia, is home to Smythe Orchards, Winnie and her Granny's beloved twenty-five-acre farm and family business. But any way you slice it, it's struggling. That's why they're trying to drum up business with the "First Annual Christmas at the Orchard," a good old-fashioned holiday festival with enough delicious draw to satisfy apple-picking locals and cider-loving tourists alike--until the whole endeavor takes a sour turn when the body of Nadine Cooper, Granny's long-time, grudge-holding nemesis, is found lodged in the apple press. Now, with Granny the number one suspect, Winnie is hard-pressed to prove her innocence before the real killer delivers another murder . . .

I think this year has been the year to be behind on my reviews! I really need to start going back to read/review cause if I don’t things get read but not reviewed…lol.

Read this one back in October so forgive me if it’s really short as I can’t remember much but I do know I enjoyed it!

Blossom Valley is the home of the Smythe Apple Orchard and it’s falling on hard times so Winnie has an idea to help her granny’s orchard. They are going to have a Christmas festival at the Orchard and she wants to talk to a guy at the bank about a loan to fix up the barn into an apple cider shop. Winnie makes all sorts of apple cider flavors and she knows it would be a great draw and they could have other things going on as well.

Things don’t go so well when she was trying to show the banker around and the dead body of her granny’s foe is found on her property. With her granny being a suspect Winnie decides to dig into things and see if she can figure out what is going on.

I really liked Winnie and her granny, plus the detective who seems to have a bit of a crush on Winnie. I also thought it had a really good mystery and had me a bit fooled. 🙂

I will be looking out for the next one in this series!

The national bestselling author of Wound Up in Murder spins a deadly yarn of knitting bees, butterflies, and beauty queens.
Every October, thousands of monarch butterflies flock to California's Monterey Peninsula to spend the winter there. To welcome their colorful guests, Cadbury by the Sea holds a weeklong festival complete with a butterfly queen and her court.
Eager to show some town spirit, Casey Feldstein finds herself fluttering back and forth between setting up a yarn retreat, baking and helping out at the festival. But when a former butterfly queen is found dead with a knife in her back after a Bless the Butterflies service, Casey must set her loom aside to hook a killer with a score to settle.
Includes knitting patterns and a recipe!

In book 4 of The Yarn Retreat mystery series we are back at Cadbury by the Sea for another festival but this one involves butterflies! This is an enjoyable series.

Casey is the owner of a yarn retreat and she bakes goodies for the town bakery and now she is helping with the festival and she is having a time doing all of them. Especially after a former butterfly queen is murdered and everyone thinks it was a young girl who is a bit different than the typical butterfly pageant person. She is also detective Dane’s (Casey’s sort of boyfriend) sister and Dane is off the case so he has to let Casey do her thing in hopes she can figure it out.

Also, things are a bit dicey because her ex-boyfriend who is still a friend has told his parents they are together so they don’t find out he quit being a doctor to be a magician. So she has to pretend to be with him, while trying to figure out things, run her retreat, etc. She is a busy lady in this one!

I really like the characters in this series. From the MC Casey to the side characters, especially the returning yarn retreaters! I also think it had a good mystery.
