Mini Reviews #39

February 6, 2020 Misc. 10

ย I have been meaning to cover these on my blog before this but just forgot as I have had them both for a while!

Harry Potter Crochet set by Thunder Bay Press

So I had ever intentions of creating some masterpieces with this very cool and very fun looking crochet set! It has some fun Harry Potter characters to choose from, but my crochet skills are rusty so still trying to practice in hopes that I can make one look like it should! So I don’t have a cool pic of my own masterpiece but can show you one that someone else did! ๐Ÿ™‚

Here is a pic of all the cool thing that come in the set! It has everything you need to make one Harry and one Dobby. Instructions and a cool wand crochet hook!

So even though I haven’t mastered the art of making a round head in crochet, I still think this is a cool set and if you are into crocheting give it a go! ๐Ÿ™‚

Isn’t that cover just beautiful!!!

An Encyclopedia of Tolkien: The Mystery and Mythology That Inspired Tolkien’s World by David Day

This isn’t a book that you can just sit down and read, or at least I can’t. It’s set up like a…well an Encyclopedia! ๐Ÿ™‚ It is full of all sorts of cool things that inspired Lord of the Rings. Now I have never read LotR but I have watched the movies and found them interesting. One day I would like to try and tackle LotR and I think it will be fun to do with having this book that tells about the things that inspired the world.

It’s also filled with some very cool illustrations from the front inside cover to the back inside cover and all through the book! It has some really cool battle maps and charts that tell about different aspects of the Tolkien world. I do think it would be great for those who like to read any type of fantasy as it has all sorts of things about dragons, etc. I will admit to really only skimming through and looking at certain things especially the illustrations as I said it’s not something you can just sit down and read, at least not me. It is something that is interesting to check out though!

Now are those not just some very cool illustrations!!!!

I would recommend this for those who love fantasy and anything Tolkien!

Well, I am learning that crocheting in a line and trying to make a circle is a lot different…lol.

Yeah, I loved the movies to but have heard the books are very dense so not sure how I would feel about them…lol. Maybe on audio! ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Carole's Random Life in Books

I did see that crochet set at the bookstore and thought it looked adorable. I can crochet but my carpal tunnel is so bad that I don’t know if I could do it anymore. I haven’t read Lord of the Rings either but that book looks amazing.

I can crochet a blanket, I very large miss shapened blanket. It might now look amazing but it will keep you warm ๐Ÿ™‚
Those are so cute. I love those little kits that have all the pieces and extra stuff too!

I’m a knitter – never have mastered crochet for some reason that hook just trips me up! But that set looks so cool – you know I LOVE Harry Potter!

You need to read LOTR, but know that it is long, very epic fantasy, and nothing like the movies. I personally loved the hobbit and found the other books just ok. But that encyclopedia is cool and I love the pictures!
