Friday Meme’s ~ Thread on Arrival
Since there are a few Friday Meme’s that I want to participate in I have decided to post them all in one post.
Book Beginnings is hosted by Rose City Reader. Take the first sentence of your current read and post it.
In this coastal New England town, folks take care of the needy–but someone is killing without kindness . . .
Ike Hamilton is a part of the Haven Harbor community just like anyone else, though he’s fallen on hard times and has to make do on disability checks and deposit bottles. Most of the locals do what they can to help him out, and needlepointing partners Angie and Sarah are happy to see him at the annual Blessing of the Fleet, honoring all those lost at sea over the centuries.
But when harmless Ike is stabbed, suspicion quickly falls on a troubled teenage boy who’s new in town. Angie’s convinced that young Leo is innocent–but if he didn’t do it, who did? Turns out Ike may have appeared simple-minded, but he knew a few secrets that someone might have murdered him to keep quiet. Angie sets out to trace Ike’s bottle-collecting route to find out what he witnessed–and for this killer, there may be no redemption . . .
I am almost done with this one and enjoying it. It’s one of my favorite series.
“How many from Haven Harbor died?” Patrick held my hand as we joined the crowd of Haven Harbor residents walking towards the waterfront.
Every year in Haven Harbor they have a Blessing ceremony down at the docks where they read of the names of all those who died at sea. Kind of a grim start to a story.
The Friday 56 is hosted by Freda @ Freda’s Voice. It’s like Tuesday Teaser but you have a specific place in your read that you have to turn in your read (page 56 or 56%) to get your teaser.
“I’m sorry, Dave.”
“Not as sorry as I was. I wasn’t dumb. I got out of there when I was about Leo’s age. Figured I could take care of myself. Found out that wasn’t easy. Lived on the streets for a while. That was a really educational experience.” Dave paused, remembering, looking off into a place I couldn’t see.
I like getting to know a little more about Dave’s past. He has always been the quiet one of the needleworkers.
Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Each week we are asked a question to answer so it reminds me a bit of FF and so I thought it made a good fit to my other Friday Memes.
When reading a series, do you re-read the previous book/s before reading the newly released book?
Not normally but it does depend on how long it has been since I read the previous books. If it’s just the normal wait of a year before the next book I don’t reread. If it’s been more than a couple years since I read a book in a series and I decide I want to continue on then I reread.
